Excellent spot to grab a grilled dog or special grilled cheese and soup dunker! I've lived around here a long time and never stopped in...I now have regrets! Great grilled dog on either grilled split top buns or foot long hoagie rolls. Tons of combos to choose from...most wasted on me because I'm a 4 year old when it comes to hot dogs....ketchup and maybe baked beans. So.i went with the new England (Bush's baked beans) and a plain. Of course paired with a Sunkist Orange Soda to complete my nostalgic lunch. I was on the run, but there are tables inside if you picked a messydawg and need to hunch over a table! Good eats!

I was craving hot dogs today after my son's game, so we decided to check out Cheese Dawgs. Mystery man happened to come across them on a list of the best hot dogs. So of course had to check it out. At first glance it looks sort of a hole in the wall-ish, but that's usually when you know it's going to be good food. There are a couple tables inside, each with about 3 chairs. There are 3 large coolers with a wide assortment of drinks. I had gotten 2 hot dogs for myself and a baked beans on the side. I went with the Dallas chili & cheese & a NY with spicy mustard for my picks, just regular size. All was delicious. I'm not typically into hot dogs esp if they're not Sahlens with Webbers mustard. But these I'll make the exception for this place. The mystery kids got a Mac n cheese and plain hot dog and bacon on side. They loved everything. Ate it all up. That's a big deal! Mystery man enjoyed just as well. The price was so cheap too. I couldn't believe it. We are definitely fans so will be certainly coming back again. It was also very cool how they had local business cards spread around. People all knew each other by name. It was pretty nice to see.

We stopped in after spending the afternoon at Parx Casino. I was a little skeptical based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews (it's just hot dogs right)? But holy crap, this place is awesome. I got the Jersey which was a well grilled foot long hot dog with crispy bacon, American cheese, cole slaw and onions on a fresh roll. Absolutely delicious and a nice twist on the usual hot dog in a bun you'd get at a random fast food joint. They also have many more varieties available so I look forward to coming back again and trying some soon!

Saw this place online and knew I had to come try it. I was honestly a bit skeptical about how good it would be, but the food quickly had me convinced. The decor and feel is classic philly, down to the eagles posters and pictures on the wall of all the people that have finished their massive hot dog challenge. Their menu is full of hot dog specials with all sorts of toppings, some grilled cheese specials, and their grilled poundcake or grilled donut ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Came where with my brother and a cousin, and between the three of us split a Jersey, Nightwalk, and a foot long Pleasant Pig. Each hot dog came out grilled to perfection, sliced down the middle and perfectly crisp outside. The nightwalk (chili, pepper hash, Fritos) had just the right ratio of toppings without spilling off the ends. The pleasant pig (pulled pork, cheese, jalapeños) was packed with meat and such a good deal at only $6. The jersey was my favorite, topped with a perfectly crisped slice of bacon and a good ratio of onions, slaw, and cheese. Everything was grilled perfectly, and at $3-4 for a regular size and $5-6 for a footlong, very affordable. The food was so good we got a footlong West Virginia (chili and coleslaw), which was just as good as the others. At $3, we had to try one of their desserts so we decided on the grilled donut sandwich; they cut a glazed donut in half, grill the sides perfectly, and sandwich it around a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. It's not fancy, but the donut is warm and crisped just right, and tastes amazing with the cool ice cream. Don't let the very unassuming location fool you, Cheese Dawgs pumps out some extremely tasty, extremely affordable comfort food. Having tried food scenes in the burbs and fancier, more expensive places in the city, I can definitely say that the hot dogs here are worth every penny and I can't to come back!

Was grabbing some dinner and I've always wanted to try Cheese Dawgs. It could not have been more convenient since I was getting a cheesesteak right next door to accompany my footlong. I tried the South Philly footlong which had grilled onion, spicy mustard and provolone cheese in a perfectly sturdy but supple and chewy roll. The exquisite hot dog was grilled perfectly and all the flavors worked perfectly together and this was only shockingly $5. Wow. I was talking to the owner who was a very friendly guy and they have a challenge here for $10 if you finish a 2 ft hot dog under 10 minutes you get your picture up on the wall and a t-shirt. Next time I'm coming ready to deep throat that challenge. So many unique styles of hot dogs going to be back here for sure on the regular.

Stopped in today and was pleasantly surprised. Before I get to the food, the place is spotless and very welcoming. It's new and refreshing. Tables and chairs, a TV all inclusive. The food---we chase hot dog places, wherever we are, whatever state we're in. So, we know our hot dogs. Cheese Dawgs has every kind of dog you can think of, including kielbasa and sausage. The combinations are endless and delicious. The rolls are toasted just right and the food is served hot. They also have grilled cheese with many variations of that. Also, on the menu is pulled pork. Once finished your meal you start thinking about when you're going to come back and, it's worth the trip. Owner is friendly, his name is Rick and couldn't do enough for you. Very helpful and very quick. read more

I've lived right around the corner from this place all the time it's been open (3 years) and I'm upset that I just discovered it today. I had a chili - cheese - fritos hot dawg and HOLY SH*T was it good. After that my cousins and I split the grilled ice cream (grilled poundcake with ice cream in the middle). Needless to say, it was an awesome hangover cure. Five thumbs up. read more

Stopped in to get a hot dog. What we found was a small business with the owner behind the counter. we got two hot dogs, soup and some other stuff. They were the best hot dogs we have had in a very long time. The owner was quite friendly and took time to talk to us about how he started the business, etc. read more

Let me preface by saying I read all the reviews and the lower stared ones seemed to be expecting fireworks from a Hot Dog... NOPE. This guy who owns his shop, personally works behind the counter and pays attention to the person he is serving! He EARNS his 5 stars by smiling, being friendly cooking each dog to order. YES it is kraft mac and cheese - YES it is grilled cheese on traditional white bread with campbells tomato soup BUT it is done well, not overpriced and you feel at HOME! You are made to feel welcome here and no matter how many people come through that door, he can handle it. Remembering each order, bringing it to your table, making sure you had your fill... ALL without pressure. Do one thing and do it right. HOT DOGS nothing special, nothing fancy but topped with anything you can imagine. FRESH, JUICY,TASTY and served with a warm smile. Kudos to you sir; poo poo on the lower stars expecting something other than a hot dog you are a reminder of what an establishment should be. It is NOT a chain, it is NOT a franchise, it is a MOM&POP. Representing a shop owner who cares about his business so much so that he personally runs it himself, puts his blood sweat and tears into the place and serves his product personally to his public with a smile read more

Great place, good quality food and definitely fresh. They're good, basic hot dogs, it's hard to make hot dogs "great" but to have good quality hot dogs, awesome toasted buns and fresh toppings is key and this place delivers. I'm surprised not many people on here have reviewed this place, much better than the other hot dog place in town. read more

Can't say enough about this place. Best (and cheapest) place to get good takeout food in the bustleton area. Everything on the menu is under 5 bucks, and good luck finding any other place that offers a footlong Texas Tommy for 4 dollars. The rolls, bacon, dogs, everything is always fresh. The owner is kind and always appreciative of his customers, clean interior, great selection of sodas including Stewarts products, one of my favorite things to get is the buffalo chicken grilled cheese sandwich. Don't think about it, just go check this place out it's the real deal and not enough people know about it. read more

Cheese Dawgs has an excellent range of hot dog choices and the quality of the food is great. The owner works alone and really goes above and beyond to make sure you feel welcomed. the wife and I stopped in for a try of these hot dogs. my wife loves hot dogs and always loved Johnny hot dogs in jersey we would always stop for some going up to the Poconos . now after having cheese dawgs and we live only a mile from here we are hooked on the best hot dogs around here and will be back for more so go get some and stuff up there that good. read more

A diamond in the rough. Many options to add to your hot dog. Great soups. For a quick bite you can't top this place. The owner is very personable and his service is outstanding. The only negative is you could miss his place with some fast moving traffic on Bustleton Pike. If you take the time to find his place, you will definitely be a repeat customer. read more

I drive by it all the time and finally gave it a shot. Absolutely wonderful place. Small hole in the wall joint. Large selection of hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches that are very affordable. Excellent service. The owner was super friendly and pleasant. Very laid back spot that is unassuming. Felt right at home. Had a few different hot dogs. All were delicious. They use toasted New England style buns which is so much better than your typical hot dog bun. Will definitely come back again. read more

Just took my two grandsons to Cheese Dawgs for lunch. What kid doesn't like grilled cheese and hot dogs? I really enjoyed the sharp provolone, tomato & cilantro grilled cheese. The kids got plain grilled cheese & hot dogs. Perfect. But, the real winner was a hot dog with cheese wrapped in pork roll. Pig heaven! This restaurant is clean, kid-friendly, and the service was great. We will definitely be going back to Cheese Dawgs. read more

Go there everyday friday with coworkers for Hot Dog Friday. Rick is by far the nicest guy and is always on his game with making the hot dogs. Has something for every taste. Frito pie is delicious if you just want something small. The buns are not normal hot dog buns but more of the buns I see used for lobster rolls. Recommend getting the Seattle (cream cheese and siracha) and the chili crunch (chili and fritos). But lets be serious, they are all delicious. Make sure you catch a day when someone tries the 2 foot long challengs, makes you feel great about yourself while they struggle. read more

The Beast is a great deal. For $10 you get a 2 foot hot dog with fixings. Rick has a large list of fixings for his hot dogs and you can pick them all for the beast if you'd like. Rick is a really nice guy and keeps a clean neat place. Great breakfast choices too! read more

Great place! Stopped in while driving through the area, and was impressed by the selection. I finally settled on the Northeastern--a dog with ketchup, beans, mac and cheese, and kraut, and it was delicious. Nice grilled bun, and everything was fresh. Only problem was, it soaked through the bun and fell apart. Definitely a "fork" dog if you're not careful. But well worth checking out. I can't wait until my next trip to the area... read more

WOW! What a great place to grab a grilled cheese or a hot dog!! We wanted everything on the menu, but, we got the sauerkraut and spicy mustard dog, the Chicago dog and a Texas Tommy. We took a cup of corn chowder to go that was so delicious...I wish it didn't take me a year to stop in this place - we will definitely go back...there's no doubt! BEST HOTDOG AROUND!!! They also make some very unique desserts including a glazed donut with bacon and cheese...or grilled pound cake with vanilla ice cream.... read more

Pumpkin spice is for pumpkin pie and that's it, no matter what these dizzy suburban women say. So the decision to visit Johnny Longhots today was based entirely on poor reviews. The guy who ordered a sandwich to the hospital and found a cheesesteak to be "greasy" deserves to contract MRSA during his stay. The dope who complained his fries were soggy ordered his shit off Door Dash. He's lucky the driver didn't eat all of his fries. The folks who called out the teenagers who are getting their first experience working can all get bent. You weren't perfect when you had your first job. Don't forget people like you willingly locked kids in their homes during covid. It's no wonder some of them struggle with social skills and working under pressure. Have a little grace, then eat a bag of dicks for not being patient to them. Don't get me started on that dipshit from Brooklyn. That person who rated the place a one for the soda? I already know who you vote for. Onto the food - the menu is huge. There are a ton of choices with something for just about everyone. There's even gluten free options for those fucking people. There were four or five sandwiches in the running, but it was the Gritty Cheesesteak that ultimately won out on my first visit. And that's a strange decision for me because the Flyers stink and their fans are even worse. They're the worst organization in hockey. Maybe I just wanted fries on my sandwich. Yea - that's it. So the Gritty is a good amount of beef, fries tossed in Old Bay and topped with white cheddar cheese sauce atop a seeded roll. I added fried onions. The sandwich scores higher than the Flyers. I was a fan of the seeded roll which was super fresh. The cheese sauce was tasty and complemented the fries really well. They were super crispy, well seasoned and plentiful. The beef wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was tender and cooked well. All-in-all a good sandwich. The gals up front were attentive and friendly. They took my order quickly. Hats off to the kitchen for getting my food out promptly among the online orders. The place was pretty clean and had a ton of Philly Sports pics on the wall. The music on the radio was some throwback stuff - thank God it wasn't any of that mumble rap shit most kids play these days. Johnny's has a bunch of lunch specials that look worthwhile and a decent value. Locally owned spot worth giving your business to. It's a 4-star review from me that gets bumped to a 5 to spite the mopes who gave it a one.

But I definitely was placed on hold for this to be discussed to be told sorry they are here waiting for you NO manager came to the phone And if you read my review wasn't mad or upset over the long wait . I kept trying to love this place . But I think tonight is the last time I'll order from here . Order should have been ready at 6:25 it wasn't . Which understandable could have been a busy night . So went to get some pickles it was empty ask was told they would be right out . Food wasn't done till 7 . So 35 minutes late which I was still fine with it . Never got the pickles . What killed it was getting home with missing a sandwich and a side . And having to go all the way back wasting more of my time and gas . Kinda sucks since they are the only one in the area with a decent steak sandwich

I spoke to someone before ordering and was so happy to hear how knowledgeable they were about gluten free. I felt comfortable giving it a try. The cheese steak was DELICIOUS! The pretzel bun was incredible. I also had the gluten free french fries. It was such a treat. We do not live near here and I can't wait until we are back in the area again.

It was a good portion, the roll was dense and as thick as a bagel. I'm afraid to know the salt content, but you could taste it for sure. The staff is nice and very quick with their service. The store is always fully stocked with drinks and the warmer has pretzel dogs along side cups of regular and jalapeno cheese. I've been coming to this location for years in the afternoon and can't say a bad thing about them. The kids love getting that surprise whiff of fresh hot pretzels when they hop in my car! A few days after the snow of the decade the drifts and plowed piles of graying white made parking problematic, but I managed to back into a shallow spot right across the street. Walking in, the morning sun through the large windows made the room bright and cheery. Mike was behind the counter and greeted me heartily. He let me know that there was a special breakfast deal - meat, egg and cheese of choice, plus tater tots for the price of the sandwich alone. I couldn't resist. Cooper Sharp Cheddar, please, on Onion Bagel. To go. It was all still warm when I reached the office; so I settled in at my desk to chow down before getting to work. It was all very good and filled me quickly. The tots were more than I could finish. The transport had taken the crispness from the bagel and taters, but the flavor was there. Given my self imposed delay in eating right from the grill, I can't be sure that the bagels went though the boil/bake cycle, although I read in another review that they were produced offsite and flash frozen, rather than made onsite. Although he tried to talk me into having their "Slack Attack" sandwich - pork roll, bacon, sausage, ham & egg with choice of cheese and bread (good lord that's a lot of meat!!), I settled for a sausage, egg and cheese on a pumpernickel bagel. Their bagels are baked and flash frozen by Pretzelworks off Oxford Ave in Philly. The sandwich was a good size and had good flavors (they forgot my hot sauce request) and a light kick from the sausage patty. The bagel had typical rye pumpernickel flavor, and a balanced portion of cheese, egg and meat. If you like a bagel that's dense with a bit of a chewiness you'll enjoy theirs. I think they wanted around $6.50 to $7.00 for the sandwich which was fair. I didn't try the coffee, but it smelled good. I'd definitely return if I'm in the area and when it's warmer! Thanks guys!
