Freshly made and tasty. I had the Wood Street Steak. It comes fresh garlic, mushrooms, onions and American cheese. Exactly how I make mine at home. Food is a solid 4.5/5 stars. Super friendly personnel. It's a "Good Bang For The Buck" type of establishment. Their proprietary line of sodas were great. The counter top area and pickup area are spotless. Ok so given the amount of food we ordered it's crazy I don't have pictures lol. We ordered to go so we could enjoy the food at home with our guests and we 100% enjoyed it! Researching great cheesesteaks in the area City Steaks came highly recommended. We ordered 3 of their specialty cheesesteaks which were all delicious and MASSIVE (& priced reasonably), a mini chicken Parmesan sandwich which was not mini at all but was also delicious, a fish fillet sandwich which was also MASSIVE and 24 wings which were FRIED TO PERFECTION And delicious! We have not one single complaint or anything to offer for improvement. We were also going to order an Italian sandwich but since the following week was Christmas and they were going to be closed for a good portion of the week they informed us that they were out of the deli meats because they didn't want to over order and have left over meats that would either go to waste or be leftover for sandwiches the following week because they want everything fresh. We will definitely order again and be sure to take pics. read more

Loved the Italian Hot Dog (2 wieners, fries, onion, green pepper, mustard ketchup), and very liked the Wood Street Cheesesteak (garlic, mushroom, onion, American) and the small standard cheesesteak (simple @ $6.99). There's a pound of beef in a whole sandwich, and half pound in the halfer. The rolls are soft and pliable from Old World Bakery in Southampton. Service is personable and friendly. Always a story to be heard over the steel grill. Be sure to ask about Burlington Island and the amusement park that occupied the 90 acre parcel midstream in the Delaware River at the turn of the 20th Century. I decided to try the chicken Wood Street cheesesteak. So much meat. The roll was fresh. I loved the mushrooms but the fresh garlic was strong. I liked it. I wasn't expecting the flavor. It was dry and I didn't realize I was out of ketchup at home. I used the marinara sauce from the mozzarella sticks. That helped. It wasn't bad but there wasn't too much juiciness or cheese. But that happens with chicken......not a lot of grease. Lol BTW the mozzarella sticks were awesome. That will be my go-to! We picked up and brought take out home. And they were still gooey!!!!!!! I visited City Steaks for the very first time last weekend. I have lived in Burlington County for over 30 years and was not aware of City Steaks until I recently saw a nice video about City Steaks on YouTube produced by VacationEducation (http://www.youtube.com/@VacationEducation). I ordered a whole cheesesteak with fried onions ($13.49). I also ordered small size crinkle cut fries and a can of Coke ($3.99) as a combo special. Total cost was $18.65. The cheesesteak was very meaty and moist with good taste. A bit extra cheese was needed to be a more "cheesy" sandwich which is my preference. The roll was soft and slightly butter flavored. The crinkle fries were well cooked, tasted very good, and were well portioned for "small" size. Service was very pleasant and hospitable. Absolutely amazing cheese steak. I hadn't eaten here in years due to moving out of the Burlington area to Camden County, but I made the trip last Friday. I can't say many things other than absolutely delicious, huge, meaty sandwiches; great friendly service; timely orders even at the lunch rush time. I do recommend calling ahead and giving them some time, because when you serve sandwiches this good people know it, and it's very, very busy! Can't wait to eat another one soon. read more

Second time through even though we live hours away. Husband is from Philly and always requests that I find the best cheesesteak place along our long trips up to New England. Cheesesteaks and fries are terrific, but what really makes the place is the people. They clearly make a point of remembering their customers' names and orders. They sent us out the door with some free funnel cake they save "just for these types of special occasions" - ie making a five year olds day. We'll be back for sure. read more

We always pass City Steaks and always say we have to try it. Finally we did. We went inside to order take out. There are a couple chairs inside, but I think it is more for waiting to pick up your order. There is a window in front of you as you walk in to take your order. We ordered a full size chicken cheesesteak with american cheese and the boat club platter. The boat club platter was a piece of flounder, 3 pieces of fried shrimp, a crab cake, fries and cole slaw. Just be aware that the menu online is out of date with old pricing. The prices in the store were about $2-$3 higher than what was listed on the online menu. We placed our order and they said it would be about 10-15 minutes. We walked down to JB bakery, which is right down the street. We came back to the store about 10 minutes later, and we waited about another 5 minutes until our order was ready. It was pretty busy as there was a constant flow of people coming in to place orders and picking up. Once our order was ready we headed right home. We opened the wrapper to the chicken cheesesteak and thought, that is a lot of chicken! The roll is nice and soft and a ton of chicken. However, it seemed a little dry. It could have used a touch more grease or something. It was also cut up very fine. It was minced chicken. The cheese was on the bottom, but could have used a little more. We added a ton of ketchup to make it a little less dry. The boat club platter was fine. The crinkle cut fries were really good. I am not a fan of cole slaw so I didn't try it. The flounder was decent, but very fried. The shrimp was good. They were a good size. The crab cake just tasted like stuffing, which isn't bad, but could have used a little more crab. OMG!!! This was my first visit to City Steaks In Burlington and I LOVED it!!!! I was hungry and wanted to treat my Sister to lunch and she wanted a steak sandwich from City Steaks. I drove past many places just to get to City Steaks. She kept saying "Sis they have the BEST steak sandwiches and the bread is so good", you're going to love it! The one thing she didn't mention is the staff is AWESOME, FRIENDLY and they have their OWN soft BEVERAGE drink as well!! I had a chance to meet and talk to Kim (the Owner's wife and really the Boss, she was super friendly, welcoming and brought out my energy to want to do this post. I, also, talked to the owner, their son and, Kim's friend too. They all were in the kitchen cooking, packaging and getting my foods ready!!!! EXCELLENT SERVICE!!!! YES!!!! This is THE BEST steak that I have had in New Jersey!!! I WILL go back again soon to try their American Hoagie because it has all the meats on it that should be on an American Hoagie!! This is clearly a hometown favorite. And I'm glad I spotted it in my time around the area. The family running through place appears to know just about all of their customers name and order and by the time I left I felt like I was one of them. Well I finally stopped at this steak shop after living in this area over 15yrs. Man did I miss out. This is a great little cheesesteak place. The Service was Super Friendly ! Food was fresh and the cheesesteak was awesome ! I had a cheesesteak combo that came with fries and soda. I like cooper Sharp cheese, which they didn't have so I got the plain steak and fried onions. I LOVE their specialty steaks, each one with a cool name: The Rte. 130 (Steak, ham, pepperoni & bacon!), The City Special (Steak, onions, mushrooms, provolone), The City Double X (Extra steak & cheese!), and The Wood Street Steak (Steak, fresh garlic, Mushrooms, Onions) are among my favs! We ordered cold sandwiches from from City Steaks before (a tuna sub and an American sub) and had a pleasant experience. Tonight, we were in search of great cheesesteaks. After reading all of the cheesesteak reviews, we placed our order. I opted to try the Broad Street cheesesteak (steak, American cheese, French fries, and ketchup) and added fried onions. He opted for a regular cheesesteak with fried onions. I was excited to try the cheesesteak since I had a craving for one. To my surprise, the sandwich was large and filled with steak, onions, and a few fries. Umm, not sure what happened to the cheese as it was almost non-existent. My hubs checked his sandwich and also felt like there wasn't enough cheese. I took a few bites. I could taste the onions, and the steak tasted like meat, but there was absolutely NO FLAVOR. I never knew the importance of cheese on a cheesesteak until today. I tried to use some of the stuff I had at home to doctor up my sandwich, but nothing helped. My husband said his cheesesteak was "ok." I can't really trust his review bc I have seen him eat food that should be thrown in the trash. Lol. My son, who lives in Beverly, said I should try City Steaks. He said they display "Funnel Cakes" on their door. I drove from my home in Moorestown to check it out. My family and I just absolutely love the food here! They prepare with the intent on everything tasting absolutely delicious ! Unfortunately they're not open on Sunday and we tried Gaetano's in Willingboro on Rancocas . Absolutely no comparison whatsoever. Eating just a bit of that disgusting food from Gaetano's made us miss City Steaks that much more! Perfect embodiment of a local spot. The food is delicious and fast. I think I've ordered from every category on the menu and I have yet to be disappointed. I got takeout from City Steaks today and was pleasantly surprised. I've driven by this place soo many times without stopping in, but after hearing everyone say good things about it I was willing to give it a try. I got a large/regular-size cheesesteak and a large order of fries. The wait was 35 minutes from when I called and I still had to wait 5 minutes when I arrived. The steak itself was a decent size and was made with a soft steak roll and well seasoned steak. It's wasn't overflowing with meat like at "G", but it was filling. The fries were the best that I've had from a takeout spot, they're seasoned, crinkle cut fries and I BELIEVE had old bay on them, but the old Bay wasn't overpowering like crab fries sometimes are. I give it four stars, but I was tempted to know off another star because of two things. First, they ran out of bread when I called yesterday........
