Cool spot if you like rotten to the core cheese! It's shameful and goes against everything that's decent.

We usually make the hour and a half drive twice a year. We asked to use the restroom, and were basically yelled at. Then asked if they had a trash can to throw a few coffee cups away, and one employee started yelling at my Mother (70) if he can come to her house and dump his trash there. Again a simple no would have been an appropriate response. So we decided to leave (7 of us) and as we were walking out, I was the last one and I hear employee with the dark hair and glasses call my Mother a self entitled B***h. I turned around and said a few choice words to him. I guess that's why their parking lot was empty at 10am on a Saturday. Very disrespectful people. We will never return as their behavior was unnecessary and without cause. read more

Before the election we were making our usual trip and found a trailer in the front selling DJT mdse. Did not go in and have not been back. My 97 yr old mother and I shop at the Cheese House at least once a month. She has celiac and the gluten free section is amazing!! Best selection for miles, even comparing to health food stores. They always have new products to try as well as the tried and true. We've never had a problem, the help is attentive when needed. I think most shoppers just want to wander and take it all in. I know we always see something that we missed last trip. As far as the reviews referring to the 'rude' sign on the door....... apparently you've never been in retail when a group come in and let the kids run wild destroying everything in their path. Well, I have. And the Cheese House sign is definitely not rude! It's a cry for help to please realize that you're the parent. The employees are not there to baby sit. Amen! read more

The owner told my daughter that her 2 year old twins was annoying because they were giggling through the store and was asked not to come back. I called to talk to the owner, I told him my name and asked for his. He wouldn't answer me. He asked what the issue was was I said a complaint. He immediately said "we don't take complaints" and hung up on me. I tried calling back but the answer machine said that the phone would not accept any calls. There are amish items, postcards, bags of snacks, mugs, sayings and barn signs, cards and all sorts of books and calendars. The clerks are helpful and friendly. If I could give this place a negative rating, I would. Relatives traveled 2 hours to purchase from this small business. One is a cancer patient currently undergoing treatment and just needed a drive and felt a small local business would be safe. No. Employees were not wearing masks and were rude to her when she asked them to please put one on while handling her order. They proceeded to talk about her to other customers (also walking around sans masks and not social distancing.) Every employee there was incredibly rude and my relatives left (after driving hours) without purchasing. The place obviously has no regard to state orders and should be shut down. read more

This place could have so much potential, but I am often disappointed when I shop there. It could showcase the local Amish, but it doesn't... most so called Amish products are from Ohio. I have found outdated items unfortunately! I LOVE THIS PLACE. First of all they have a fantastic selection of gluten free stuff. I am not even going to tell you my favorites because you will be coming from far and wide to buy them and then there won't be any left for me when I get there. They also have a huge selection of jigsaw puzzles that get me through the winter. Tons of Amish made foods that are jarred and taste great. I do have to say that the cheese selection is always keeping me interested. They have super hot and completely different cheeses that go great on my gluten free crackers. Make a day trip of it if you live far away you won't be disappointed in the things to buy and see as much as the scenery getting there. read more

This could be such a great little shop, as they have many nice food items...however, the rude sign in the door regarding keeping your children quiet etc kind of turns you off. We still went in though because my elderly mother wanted too. I have never seen such rude ,unfriendly employees ....didn't smile or greet us when purchasing lots of items! Also...not a single employee was wearing a mask! After suffering loss during covid-19 pandemic you'd think they'd try their best to welcome customers. The sign on the door was an immediate turn off. "If you cannot keep your kid quiet you will be asked to leave." Wow, talk about BALLS. Also, hours online are wrong. I drove from Boardman oh to support this "small business" and I arrived at 4:58. Online says they close 5:30...apparently it's 5 and they don't give a fuck :) they rushed us through the store. The cashier was very unpleasant. This is objectively defined as RUDE. Drove past and decided to stop in. It is more like a bulk foods/gift store than cheese store. But it was interesting walking the aisles. The very cold AC was a plus since it was so hot outside. They have a few ethnic sections and I stopped at the German section. Sadly, most of the items were out of date by 3-4 months, but still on the shelf. They do have a very very large selection of puzzles. But that's not cheese. The parking lot is huge and can hold large RVs or trailers. read more

Used to go there about once a month but last time I was there on Sept 12, out of the 4 employees I saw there only one was wearing a mask. A man behind the meat counter had his pulled down on his chin while waiting on a customer and the woman working there has hers pulled down below her nose. One man at the checkout had his on his chin while checking someone out. The other person at the checkout was the on only one with their mask on correctly. Not a safe place to shop. I won't be going back. If it's that lax up front I wonder what goes on in the back. read more

It's an interesting place to stop in to if you're in the area. There's a good selection of local products but not as much cheese as you would expect from the "cheese house." I would have liked some more unique options beyond the standard cheddar and swiss. The cheese that we got, however, was very good. My family and I stop here 2-3 times a year but will not be returning anymore. Our last trip here was less than a week ago. CHECK ALL ITEMS BEFORE BUYING. A lot of things are expired here. I don't think they care about dates because every single time we go, there are multiple expired items on the shelves (both cheese items and shelf stable goods). It makes me wonder how fresh the stuff they are slicing behind the counter is. This past time I was there, I was overcharged because they punch prices manually into their register and the lady wasn't paying attention the guy behind the counter was distracting her as she was ringing up my items. The same thing happened to my mom who checked out before me, she was overcharged about $14 due to carelessness by the cashier. We did receive our money back but the situation was annoying. I also find the sign on their door about children to be rude. I'd say skip it. They don't make anything from scratch here anyway so you can just buy the same stuff from another store with fresh products. Looking at other reviews, the way they have responded to other customers is extremely unprofessional - essentially insulting customers for pointing out that they are selling old products and questioning their parenting skills. We drive from Pittsburgh to go here at least 4 times a year. Love the place. I am in a wheelchair and we have never had a bad experience, have always been treated well. They have unusual Amish food items as well as gifts. We try a different cheese every time we go and never had a problem with mold as stated by others. Only bad part is no handicap restrooms, and stalls are VERY small. Try it for yourself and see. read more

I gave the man at the deli counter a list of seven cheeses and asked for a half lb. of each. I continued shopping and when I returned to the deli counter, instead of a half lb. each, I recieved a full lb. each. Okay, lets just say it was my mistake. But, it was definitely not a mistake that all seven cheeses were actually over a lb. closer to one and a quarter lbs.only a few of the packages were marked with which cheese were inside each one, only the weight and prices..the pimento cheese was sliced and stuck together in a clump. A customer shouldn't have to ask them to do their job right. Deli-paper between each slice is too much to expect. So don't. Before heading for the checkout, I put the other items in my cart back onto the shelves. (I didn't expect to pay for that much cheese and had a bad taste of the place). It seems that too often whenever I patronize the deli section of a grocery store, the person behind the counter seems annoyed just doing their job. And have to be asked to do the job right. (Deli-paper between slices when needed) Except one place that I can think of... Giant Eagle. Top quality and excellent service. Every time we go to Pennsylvania to visit family we go to The Cheese House. They are always friendly although sometimes busy. I love the Hometown feel of the store. All their products are locally made. I always buy my Jellies, Butter, and other canned goods from there. I look forward to it yearly. I love buying as close to Organic as I can. I look forward to next summer when I get to stock up again. Also there are several Amish produce markets around as well. Love buying from those as well. Stopped by the Cheese House on 9/5/15. I have advanced MS and use a mobility scooter to get around. Before leaving the store and heading back to Pittsburgh, my husband and I wanted to use the restroom. There is a cinder block barrier built around the entrance to both bathrooms so I asked if there was an accessible restroom and was told there wasn't. With great difficulty, my husband walked me in while another customer that we didn't know stood guard outside. We then found that the toilets were very old and dirty and didn't have grab bars. I stopped on my way out and asked to speak with a manager to voice my complaint about accessibility. He became highly agitated and defensive immediately and said that "there is no law saying that he has to provide bathrooms/he wasn't doing anything about it/if I wanted to use grab bars THEN I SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT THEM/I just wanted something to 'bitch' about" . . . Then asked a smart-mouthed young loser that I suspect was his son to open the door and show me out. All of this because I had the audacity to speak up about his lack of accessibility. I will be following up with code enforcement agencies regarding his disregard for ADA regulations. This business does not deserve your patronage. read more
