We love this place. We met on our way to Arizona and my sister drove from Dallas. It was a great meeting spot! Get people working there. They're so nice and welcoming. We had the place to ourselves because of being between lunch and dinner. It was a lovely time to eat great food and catch up. We had delicious mock tails along with an appetizer. I've been wanting to try Cheever's cafe since I moved to OKC, and now I'm about to move away, I had to check it off of my bucket list. I have to say it delivered on many levels! I met up with a few friends on a Wednesday night. Reservation recommended. We grabbed a patio seat as our friend brought her beautiful Great Pyrenees. Immediately, our awesome waiter (whose name I didn't catch and I'm so so sorry!) brought out a water bowl for Dully the Great Pyrenees. He also gave us a quick run down of the menu since it was my first time trying Cheever's. I just love it when the waiter is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food from their restaurant, it fuels my excitement about trying the place too! We started with the bleu cheese potato chips. While I'm not super into bleu cheese, the massive tower of chips was not overwhelmingly funky from the cheese. I loved the scallion pesto atop the chips. It added a vibrant green hue to the dish too, 5/5! They had a decent wine and cocktail selection. My friends enjoyed their cocktails. For dinner all three of us went for the dinner special - New York strip with flash fried brussels and mashed potato. Say no more when you tell me there's flash fried veggie (spinach or brussels sprouts, I'm down!). While we were waiting for the entree, our wonderful waiter brought out the house rolls with salted butter, which we enjoyed very much! The dinner entree was delicious, as expected. I've been eying their seafood tamale for ages and I wish I had a second stomach so I could have tried that as well. Maybe I can squeeze in another visit to Cheever's before I leave town... if not, I'll take it at everyone else's praises and let it be one of those forever dreamt-about dishes and a reason to return to OKC someday. For dessert, we shared the 7 layer carrot cake. I'm a huge fan of carrot cake with all the fruity veggie goodness and the crunch of walnuts, smothered in a tangy cream cheese frosting - this carrot cake checked all those boxes for me. It's my early birthday and I couldn't have asked for a better slice of cake. I wish I could've caught our waiter's name because he was simply awesome. Super classy dinner spot in Uptown serving up incredible high end dishes, but you can go casual and fit right in. The service is as fantastic as the food, Patrick made some excellent recommendations and was on top of everything. Check the current menu on their website, some of the dishes in reviews on Yelp are not on the current menu. The chicken tortilla soup is some of the best I've ever had. Very well balanced flavor - you can taste the large chunks or chicken and they aren't overwhelmed by the broth and other seasonings. I chose the braised boneless short rib entree. The chef is a flavorologist !!! The combination of the blackened jalapeño au gratin potatoes which were rich and creamy, with a spice that creeps up on you, paired with the sweet garlic sautéed Brussels, and the savory fork tender short rib....speechless. Cheever's Cafe WAS our favorite spot for amazing food in Okc. The cinnamon rolls were our favorite and the food was always fresh and delicious. It's our 10 year anniversary and we couldn't wait for brunch. After being seated we were told they don't have cinnamon rolls anymore. That should have been our sign. Crème brûlée french toast was ok. Fried eggs sunny side up were cold, potatoes were cold. The coffee was hot at least, service was blah. $50 breakfast and would have been better elsewhere. Just disappointed since this was our favorite place. Hopefully they were just having an off day, but we will not return. read more

I stopped in here by myself on a workday for lunch. Sat right down at the bar and immediately got my tea and was brought bread with a seasoned butter. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was a large portion with mashed potatoes underneath. The presentation was nice and the taste was excellent. It had just enough kick to set it apart from every other CFS I've ever had. Cheevers is a small jewel slightly hidden off 23rd street in north OKC. This is an affordable but elegant dinning experience that provides both a small and home like feel with the flair of fine dinning. The service was phenomenal! From booking a larger part of seven, just hours beforehand, to the waiters at our table, everyone was flexible, understanding, and accommodating. I had the grilled ribeye, with cheesy jalapeño scalloped potatoes and asparagus and my wife had the Italian sausage rigatoni with goat cheese and mascarpone. The serving size was filling and more than expected. The steak was cooked perfectly but had a unique sweet wine sauce that was surprising and satisfying. I highly recommend both these dishes. At the end of the evening they brought us a free seven layer carrot cake for my mother's birthday that was so large it feed the table. Currently, I am waiting for a picture from another guest as I didn't get a chance to take a photo before it was sliced up and dished out. It was the best carrot cake I have ever had, please no matter how full you are, get this cake. read more

Giving this 5 stars because our waiter (Trey) was amazing. Fun personality, explained menu well, answered any questions, and never left our cups empty! I only got pictures of the queso unfortunately but we ordered a lot of food and tried multiple desserts. Queso was just okay- not great in my opinion. The ribeye was great! Cheever's is an OKC staple with a really cool backstory. It was started as a flower shop by the first baby born in OKC after it was officially a city, but enough about that...on to the food! We opted for Sunday Brunch on Father's Day and were not disappointed at all. We are a party of 6 so reservations are generally a must. We were seated promptly and started off with craft cocktails and the most amazing rolls with herb butter. That was followed by queso with lots of tasty add-Ins and then the feast arrived. Cheever's Cafe is a unique restaurant with beautiful decor and attentive waitstaff. I ordered the cauliflower bread pudding and adored the flavors. The red pepper jus really complemented everything well and I felt there was a lot of thought with the flavor combination, particularly having the crispy brussels sprouts & pistachio to provide some texture to the dish. I'd get the goat cheese on the side, sometimes it can be too overpowering if there is too much. This dish would be my go to if I were to return, but living out of state now doesn't provide me with the opportunity to. I appreciated that my friend & I were also not rushed out the door, as we were really enjoying the ambiance & meal. I dislike restaurants where you feel so rushed, you're not able to take your time, digest the food, and enjoy the experience of a meal. The sparkling wine we purchased was also nice - we decided on the Gruet Blanc de Noir Brut (from NM). Now I consider myself a pretty big eater, but man, I was struggling. The dinner portion comes with two pieces actually, and I couldn't finish my second piece. With that said, the steak was perfect. The batter that they used was so unbelievably crispy and the steak itself wasn't pounded to be paper think like many other place might try, it was a decently thick steak. That jalapeno gravy is so so good. I still dream about this meal and I would go back to OKC just for this if I had the chance. This place is an oldie but goodie. Their service is still top notch and food is still fabulous. My wife and I shared the infamous Chicken Fried Steak and their Spicy Caesar Salad. Chicken Fried Steak (Jalapeño cream gravy and garlic red-skinned mashed potatoes) The breading was crispy and thick but in good proportion to the meat. Half was perfect for us because this is the ultimate comfort food. There's a chili oil or what tasted like an infused oil around the plate that was really tasty with the mashed potatoes. Spicy Caesar Salad (Little gem lettuce, Calabrian chili, grated parmesan, bread crumbs) We wished we had asked for the dressing on the side because my wife doesn't like her salad smothered in dressing. However, we both agreed that this is not your usual Caesar salad. Had a slight kick which was interesting and added to the salad experience. :) Their bread + butter with what looked like pink Himalayan salt ... hard to stop eating. We ended our meal with a smaller version of the ROASTED PECAN ICE CREAM BALL Vanilla ice cream rolled in brown sugar roasted pecans and red chile - smothered in chocolate sauce Dessert was spot on if you like all the ingredients mentioned. You can actually taste the flavor of the red chili but it's not spicy. Our waiter was kind enough to mention that there was a smaller version (that's not on the menu) when he noticed how we were splitting everything and saying how full we were.... They are famous for their shrimp and grits... their lunch/brunch cheeseburger is arguably the best cheeseburger in okc. It's really really good.
