If you have a palette for Indian spices this is definitely one to try in Lawton! Although it's the only Indian restaurant in Lawton that I know of, I frankly think, it's the best restaurant in Lawton stacked up against all the other restaurants of all other cuisines in the area. I don't like a whole lot of heat, so yes, the heat is more on the mild side which I appreciate but lots of flavor which I love even more! My only request is to have the option of tikka masala on the buffet menu and I would be in heaven! read more

The food is wonderful! My family and I come here frequently and have made a commitment to try everything on their menu. It honestly seems like no matter what we order, the food is always delicious. We have yet to try the buffet, but that is definitely on our list. I'm just afraid we may end up having to be wheeled out to our vehicles afterwards. The staff is always very nice, very friendly. I know they get busy during certain times of the day, so sometimes service is a little slow. If that's the worst I can say about a place, then honestly they can keep the 5th star. The parking lot is a bit cramped at times, but that can't really be helped because of the location. But you can always place a pick up order or order through BiteSquad. I have yet to have them mess up my order (I always get everything, no missing this or that, or sending the wrong food, etc). All in all, a very happy addition to the Lawton area!! P.S. The restaurant is always clean, including the bathroom (very important!!!). read more

So you know that prayer that you say at the end of Thanksgiving that goes something like this: Dear Lord, if you just make this pain stop by promise to never eat like that again! That's how I walked out of Chef India today. I ordered the chef special for 1 and although I am but one and I did do some serious damage on that plate (or should I say plates) I am paying for it now! But it all was so good! It was tough making a decision between the buffet and the menu especially after looking at the menu and just wanting to say bring me one of everything. Now if I've giving it such a rave review why then only four stars? Well the 5th star for me is consistency. So, if they are consistently good then the last star appears. The only thing I can say that I would change would be to add more tables and wait staff as they appeared a little understaffed. But they are new and that will come with time. It would also be nice to have a few more things on the walls but again that will probably come with time. But I will most definitely be back. read more

This is probably the best restaurant in Lawton. I've ordered takeout here several times, and the food is on par with some of the best Indian restaurants in the Boston metro area. The chili chicken and tandoori mixed grill are some of my favorites. Really flavorful spices and they'll kick up the heat for you if you ask. The naan is a great mix of fluffy/chewy with a nice char. Sometimes the Yelp ordering system seems to go down, but you can hang out inside and drink chai while you wait. Overall a great experience, great owners, and definitely an awesome surprise to find such a good Indian takeout in a smaller town like this! read more

Came in and the young lady at the counter was very patient and kind. Compared to the other restaurant I have been too. I am military so compassion is something I value . She promptly took my order gave me my lassi. And as I waited another young lady came over and gave me a cup a chai tea . The food is really good, especially considering it's one of the few authentic restaurants in Lawton. I really enjoyed the lunch buffet pre-COVID, but obviously haven't been to it in a while. The downside to this place is the service/friendliness of the staff. I always feel as though I've offended or inconvenienced them by walking into their establishment as everyone just stares at you until you ask for assistance or if it's ok to sit somewhere. Their carry out also always takes a while whether you place the order 15 minutes ahead or 45 minutes ahead, as though they wait to start it until you get there. read more

Hands down the best restaurant in Lawton! We went for our first time in Monday and went back two days later. Everything is made to order and bursting with flavor. The service is kind and courteous. Highly recommend the royal special (my friend and I split the royal for two) and you get to taste five dishes-soup, app, tandoori, curry and desert! We drove over two hours to Lawton, Oklahoma today on personal business. After completing our appointment, we headed to Chef India for lunch as we had read of its 4 1/2 star rating on YELP. The place deserves a 5 Star Rating! The owners opened Chef India just 4 months ago! They were very welcoming, seating us 1,2,3. The restaurant is very clean, comfortable and filled with décor & music from India. Several other diners were present & seemed as satisfied as we were! The menu is extensive! My husband chose the buffet, which, we were told, has different selections daily. I chose the chicken curry, ordered medium spicy! Naan (fried flatbread) was served on the side with yogurt sauce. We had begun dinner with appetizers of vegetable samosas & pakoras, served with delightful sauces on the side. Totally delicious all round meals! (Well priced, too!) In addition to my leftovers, we ordered two portions of Vegetable Biryani (a saffron rice) to go. (When home, I realized the amount will be serving us at least 2 more meal times!) If we resided in or near Lawton, Chef India would be a weekly destination. We highly recommend the restaurant to lucky folks living nearby! read more

I love the nan here. They bring it out fresh much like others places bring out hot rolls. The bread has an awesome char to it. The selections are great. I gave 2 stars because the food is delicious but the portions have been reduced even further. The packages for delivery are smaller than I remember from last time. They used small clear boxes before but now they have switched to small, partitioned, styrofoam boxes to further reduce the portion sizes. The goat biriyani had more bones than meat and definitely NOT worth $12.95! I feel ripped off! This is the second and last time I'll order for delivery from this place. Tried Chef India tonight. Guys. OMG. It was SO GOOD. I got Saag Paneer (something I craved relentlessly when I was pregnant but couldn't get it anywhere.) Hubby got Lamb Curry (hot). It was pretty dang spicy so we recommend getting the medium instead of the hot. We also got a chicken pakora appetizer and some garlic naan. They serve alcohol and they bring you the world's greatest pita chips with a couple of sauces when you sit down.The restaurant was very clean and decorated with bright colors and art. Our waiter's name was Sunny and he was awesome. Super funny and attentive. He did a great job answering our questions about the menu. I think he and I will be good friends. We definitely recommend Chef India. Let's all step up and support this wonderful local business that is dishing out some amazing food! read more
