Yellow rice with pigeon peas and 3 pieces of oxtail.
    Ronnie H.

Ordered here and got the most expensive thing on the menu. The oxtails didn't did not taste good at all. And I ordered through bite squad so it was 50 dollars wasted. They gave plenty of rice and 3 pieces of the oxtail which I'm not going to eat. Then I ordered a beef empanada and an chicken empanada. Very dry!!!! I also asked for the sauce that comes with the tostones to dip them in... of course I did not receive it which made the empanadas even more dry and hard to swallow! On this rainy day where I wanna just be lazy.. now I have to find something to eat. I should've just ordered pizza. Definitely will NEVER order from here again. The Puerto Rico to go truck was a tad bit better. Edit: After I posted this review, I immediately got a message from the owner. WOW!! Talk about customer service! And for lawton this was shocking!! He was very apologetic and wanted to make it right and offered me another meal the next day. Which is why I changed my review from 1 star to 5. I learned that this is a family owned restaurant and again. CUSTOMER SERVICE! I would recommend just based on that alone. This time I had the pernil, which I usually make myself. However, his moms put mine to shame. Which I guess is a good thing. Very good!

    Lunch Special:
BBQ Ribs and Green Beans $6.99

This was a great place to eat. We came here for lunch, and it was what we had hoped for. We ate the daily lunch special, which was BBQ ribs, and they were so tender that we just sucked them from the bone. I had a side of green beans, and they were the best I have ever had.

    Carne guisada

I grew up here in Lawton and could only get authentic PR food during the international Festival. I was here visiting and found this gem on accident and was SO happy! I ordered the chuleta and carve guisada and it's so delicious, just how I remembered it when I lived here. The rice? Perfect! This will be my go to eatery on my visits to Lawton! Great job!

    A must try!

The service was amazing... treated me like I've known them for years. The food will definitely have me coming back! It has the Perfect amount of seasoning and flavor. Meat was so tender and Delicious and the rice was the perfect combination to top it off. I got a Salad and beans on the side. The portions will definitely fill you up. I got my food to go but it does have enough space inside if you wanted to go with a group.

Great little local place in an old house. The inside has been renovated well, it's clean, & has a great vibe. The staff is friendly. My empanadas were delicious & not small, nor greasy. My entree, Fricase de Pollo, was very good; as well my rice & beans side dish. It's a Caribbean restaurant though it felt like eating your Mom's cooking, if she were Caribbean. Don't pass on this place if you're looking for something different or just good food.

There was a gaggle of teenage boys in the business uniform horsing around, throwing fries at each other, choke holding each other and just acting a mess. We are larger people and we had a party of four. They tried to sit us at this half moon booth with a rectangle table. No one could comfortably sit there with more than two people. Once I got them to let us move to a table, we were told the QR code was the menu. This link takes you to a menu with pop up adds all over it and it's horribly hard to read. We were not even allowed to read past the first page before the server asked "what food you want". Still hasn't taken our drink order. Asked for ice water and was told they have bottled water. Later to find out from seeing another table ask for ice water and was given it without question. Teenage boy brought our water bottle and asked 2 more times if we were ready to eat and order. Once we did order we wanted some beef empanadas. What we got was mashed potatoes with cornmeal around them fried with no beef in any of it. Was hungry so we ate them. The green salsa that came with it was the best part of the meal. 3 of the 4 of us ordered cane asada and was labeled as skirt steak but what was brought out was flattened flat iron steak. Maybe 4 ounces of meat pounded over a 10x6 inch plate. Should have been a $12 meal each not $20. My food was flank steak which was suppose to salsa on top and just had tomato and onions. Green salsa was 8 of 10 all the food was 2 of 10. Not to mention of of the boys that brought our food ripped a very large fart and did not apologize for it just pointed and laughed and ran off. Save the money and go to Taco Bell at least you know what you are going to get.

So first they tried to sit us at a round booth with a rectangle table that didn't fit so that was poor planning. We asked for a different table and they obliged, no biggie. The oldest young man told us we could scan the QR code for the menu and then left. The menu site had big ads that made it hard to be visible sometimes but we worked through it. He immediately came back and started asking if we knew what we wanted. He didn't even offer drinks, we had to ask and tell him we were figuring it out. We ordered appetizers and food eventually. The empanadas came out, the description said there was meat in them, I saw none. He asked us if we wanted plates, we said yes please and silverware. He brought plates, my husband had to get up and get silverware. Then almost immediately our food came so the timing was poor. The food came out a little at a time. Like our sides and then our mains with some space in between. As they left from the first round of drop off, one of the boys farted really loud right next to our table and just walked off. No excuse me. No I'm sorry. The food was fine and okay, the experience with the wait staff made it just not enjoyable. Also, the carne asada doesn't seem to be actually carne asada so it felt like a lot of things were not as promised. We watched them lock the door a half hour early so be aware they don't honor their posted hours.

I can only speak on the Service and Ambiance…read more I entered in on the courtyard side. First Impression: The restaurant is hidden. The courtyard was messy outside of the establishment. I was a bit confused about where to order entering in on that side. The sitting area is cool. The cook was helpful to show me where to go. It's dark in here. My shoes are sticking to the floor as I'm walking. The menus are paper. The counters have water damage. Order Details: We ordered 2 stew oxtail plates (1 with Sautéed Cabbage and Rice and Peas, the other with Rice and Peas and Macaroni) with 2 drinks (Strawberry Lemonade for $4.95 and Rainforest Rumble for $5.99) TOGO. We paid $75.73. The Experience: I encountered an issue when the owner was notified that I needed to refund one of the plates. The Problem: The owner became agitated that my girlfriend didn't want her meal and drink anymore. The Conversation: The owner asked "What was the issue? Was there anything wrong with the food?" I told her "No, my girlfriend changed her mind and doesn't want it anymore" O: "She doesn't want it anymore?" Me: "No" O: "Was there an issue with the food? Like is it too salty, not good...?" Me: "No, the cashier just handed me the TOGO bag, it's untouched, and still bagged" *She sucks her teeth*, O: "Do you have the card you paid with?" Me: "I paid cash." *She calls over the cashier, asks her if I paid cash. She tells her "yes." * *In the midst of all this happening I'm sensing the attitude or frustration from her. I truly believe she just didn't want to refund it.* *She mumbles "Y'all come up in here wasting food."* Me: "just refund both meals because you're trying to argue with me." *She expresses how they been up since 8am cooking the food and they work hard, and she can't do anything with the food now that it's been put in a Togo container.* That's obviously where her frustration was coming from. The thing is, I get it but account for when things happen unexpectedly. My girlfriend also mentioned that the bathroom toilet was broken and did not flush. Honestly, I can't give a recommendation based on the food. Other reviews say great things about it, that's why I went. I told them that too. The two ladies she has working for her though were helpful, especially the dark skin queen cashier she was a vibe. Until the inconvenience on both of our ends, it was decent off the cashier's vibe. My rating...Go try the food for yourself. You'll probably have a better experience overall to eat. Let me know how it went for you and how the food tastes. If you're the owner and you got this far, I'll give you transparency. LOVE TO OWNER: If you're passionate about your food, business, and providing an experience to your customers, treat your restaurant (including the courtyard entrance area), your business as a whole, with that passion. You, your employees and business deserve it, if you want it.

The food is absolutely delicious and the portions large, even if a bit on the higher side in terms of cost. The oxtails are tender and tasty, so is the chicken, goat, salmon, shrimp jerk rolls, drinks - all phenomenal. We don't like the macaroni (neither do any of the friends we've brought by) with onions and the cabbage is a bit too sweet, but you just have to know what sides to avoid. They also never had beef patties in stock which made my husband sad, and now they've entirely taken them off the menu - but that probably comes down to supply and demand. I really hope people stop by the save this business though - it's one of the best restaurants Wichita Falls has!!
