Great food. Surprisingly affordable. Chef Mickey was super nice. I was in Puerto Penasco for a bachelor party. One of the guys on the trip wanted to check out Mickey's restaurant because he saw him on the TV show Iron Chef in the US. The food lived up to the hype and the service was just as good. Since Penasco is known for seafood, I had the stuff dates and shrimp. They were amazing. Most of the guys had either the filet mignon or the skirt steak. Excellent from start to finish! This is a very popular place, mostly for American tourists. We ordered the shrimp and dates to start, they were very flavorful! I ordered the Mexican style filet mignon- this was incredible! The meat was tender and seasoned so well. It sat on chipotle sauce which wasn't too spicy. It also included rice, beans, and guacamole. All so yummy. We finished our dinner with coconut rum flan. The presentation was great but it also tasted amazing! I would definitely go back. Service was good. Wanted the flounder but wasn't available. The waiter said we could substitute sea bass instead! Great substitution as sea bass is my favorite. Food was delicious! Mickey's place was awesome. We were a party of 4. I have many allergies and have not been able to eat until now. They were sensitive to my allergies and created a special dish just for me. Oh my goodness we had this place recommended from our friend Gabriel (most amazing waiter at Bakal at the Mayan Palace). We had asked him because we had been eating at Bakal all week and wanted a change for our twin daughters birthday dinner. We were not disappointed! The food was phenomenal. Highly recommend the Mickey's chicken with asparagus. Chef Mickey was very accommodating making sure we loved our food. We will definitely be back. Very cute spot and good service . 3 of us ordered fish and it all kind of tasted the same- a lot of sauce with over cooked fish. One persons got enchiladas and they were very good! I would stick with Mexican food if I went again. Desserts were huge and not great, we got fried ice cream and the bananas foster . For the price I was not impressed. I had never been to Chef's M restaurant before. I am so happy that I went because the caliber of his restaurant is much better (than almost all of the others). I think at core the reason why is: the quality of the proteins that he buys are much better than the other top-named restaurants. He additionally, is very creative with his seafood menu choices (we all had seafood for dinner). I would say that because you are in the shrimp capital of the world (PP), you should be taking advantage of the quality fish (halibut) and shrimp type dishes. And with that in mind, he does not disappoint on the menu. (note: I'm sure his non-seafood choices rock too) sample of dishes we had: -3 different Chiles rellenos (shrimp stuffed) and different chiles and different sauces on top -the crab stuff halibut with a wonderful sauce (lemon/wine/butter I think) both amazing! If you haven't gone, don't be like me (and delay on going)-- go there and try one of his creative dishes, and I think you will be very happy and agree with me. The food is good but not great. The steaks were over cooked. The truffle chowder soup was grey and unappetizing. It's also very expensive for Rocky Point, even for the U.S, especially if you have kids. We were shock at the prices when we sat down but were out of options at that point. I also had to leave and get more cash because they don't take cards and the total was way more than we expected. Service was slow but they are kind and want you to be happy. I'd go if it was just my husband and I and the group wanted to go there. (I'm fine to pay a lot for a killer meal. This just wasn't one. We love to support the economy and eat local. It was the most expensive meal of the 10-12 meals we ate out while in Rocky Point earlier this month.) read more

Delicious food, great staff. Very organized & accommodating. They only had 5 people working between the kitchen & serving but they have a system that works so well. I can't wait to come back again. The chicken parm was DELICIOUS. The filet mignon with gorgonzola sauce amazing & the shrimp & date appetizer was out of this world. For dessert we had the creme brulee & I have to say - it is one of the best I've ever had. Please give this place a try if you are in town - you will NOT be disappointed!! read more

Wow. Have not dined here in 8 months. Happy to report the food and service is still 5 star. He has expanded the main dining room without missing a beat. We love cooking at our beach house but usually venture out for one meal and it's here. Can't say enough good things about the this cozy bistro. We loved it. Good attentive staff. Chef Medina graciously stopped for pictures. The stuffed dates and shrimp appetizer was iron chef winner in 2012. Yum. We had crab stuffed flounder and pecan encrusted flounder. Both tasty. The bananas foster was delicious served in a fried tortilla bowl that was sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, a nice "homey" twist. We recently dined at chef Mickey's. It was recommended by our awesome Realtor and his wife Ana. After we closed on our beach condo they gave us a gift certificate to the restaurant. We found this via Google and we were pleasantly surprised with how delicious the food was! The bread they serve before your food was SO good! My daughter got their kids MacNChz and it was easily the best MacNChz we've ever had on a kids menu! I got a chipotle chicken dish that was delicious...great flavors! My son had the fajitas and he loved them. It's pretty expensive so be prepared to spend a little bit of money and it's CASH ONLY. Friendly staff too! read more

One of the better places in Rocky Point for a meal other than mini fish tacos and burritos. This place should definitely be on your short list when visiting RP. The flounder is outstanding melts in your mouth! The ribeye is also delicious. Portions are very generous too. They were very busy the night our foursome arrived without reservations so, service was a little slow. They had just opened a new dining room area in an adjoining space and the HVAC had not been sorted out yet as it was a little warm. Go for reservations and ask for then main/original dining room. Chef Mickey is very friendly and likes to come out of the kitchen to see how his diners are enjoying their meals. All in all can't wait to go back! Took hubby out for his B Day - had the crab stuffed mushrooms for apps. Perfect - mushrooms where cooked to perfection ( not mushy or dry) the crab stuffing - a light crab slaw slt. Sweet . The flounder stuffed with crab was equally delicious as was the macadamia incrusted flounder. Both done perfectly. The wait staff was very attentive. Will be back. read more
