Finally got to try Chef Tony's on a super hot Friday evening. We actually had trouble deciding what to try because there were so many dishes that sounded amazing, but there is only so much that we can eat at once. After negotiations, we ended up with the following: Goat cheese stuffed fig appetizer White lasagna w/ shrimp and crab (one of the specials) w/ roasted veggies. Italian style paella For drinks, my husband got the blueberry margarita and I followed instructions to "ask about our creative mocktails", and ended up with a superlative strawberry no-jito. (It was REALLY good. I want another one. Now. Hub's drink was also tasty but I liked mine better.) Of all the dishes, my favorite was the Italian style paella. Tons of perfectly cooked seafood in a delicious broth with angel hair. Liht and delicious. The white lasagna was also delish but the dominant flavor was the mozzarella; the seafood didn't come through as much with this one. But I absolutely loved the roasted vegetables it came with. Sometimes the simple dishes are the best. The figs were quite tasty, it's hard to go wrong with goat cheese. I think I get dates and figs confused because they weren't quite what I expected but I enjoyed them. The service was friendly and pretty fast. There are still a bunch of dishes there I want to try so I will try to get back on another date night before too long and order something different. Small negatives - it was a tad warm in the restaurant but given that it was HOT A.F. outside, I will cut them slack on that. Also, I wouldn't have minded a small amount of bread with the meal, maybe you have to order it and I just didn't notice? I'm used to a little bit of bread with Italian food so it didn't occur to me to do so but I would have loved to sop up some of the delicious broth from the paella with it. read more

We stopped by Chef Tony's for an early dinner on a Wednesday and let our server know we were on a bit of a time crunch. While the service was friendly, the timing of the food was slower than expected. Our CT's Famous Grilled Caesar Salad arrived about 20 minutes after ordering, and our Crispy Thin White Pizza didn't arrive until about 45 minutes after we placed our order. I was also disappointed to learn that the Tri Color Cheese Tortellini had been removed from the menu, as it had always been one of my favorite dishes here. The CT's Famous Grilled Caesar Salad is still a solid starter. We also enjoyed the Crispy Thin White Pizza, and I liked that it was presented flat rather than stacked, unlike the version at Amalfi Ristorante. That presentation allowed the toppings and crust to shine, while still offering its own distinct flavor. I'd also love to see the Tortoni dessert make a return, even if it's only offered as an occasional special. It was a memorable way to end a meal and would be a nice nostalgic addition to the menu. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but between the longer wait despite mentioning our schedule and the removal of a couple of favorite menu items, this visit didn't quite match the experiences I've had here in the past. read more

I called yesterday afternoon and placed an order for two pizzas for pickup. This restaurant has been next to my business for over 20 years, and I have known it well. The previous owner was extremely kind and always provided excellent customer service. Yesterday, when I arrived, no one was at the front. After waiting for about five minutes, I went into the kitchen and saw the owner. I told him I was there to pick up my pizza order, and he said someone would help me shortly. Unfortunately, no attention was given to me as a customer. Another customer arrived after me, and instead of helping me first, they spent about ten minutes speaking with that person while I continued waiting. I stood there for nearly fifteen minutes while my pizzas were getting cold, with absolutely no regard for customer service or the fact that I had been waiting first. I was extremely disappointed by the service and management. It was very frustrating and unprofessional. Sadly, after this experience, I do not plan to return. read more

I was a long time customer of Amalfi, and when I learned that Tony was buying the restaurant, I was both excited but a bit anxious about what it would be like. We went last night, and I can tell you, the new venue did not disappoint! I like what they did with the refresh of the physical venue, and the food was fantastic! We started out with cocktails, and they were delicious. I had a Negroni, and it was spot on. Then for an appetizer, we ordered a white pizza, which was one of my main stays at Amalfi. It was fantastic, definitely up to par with the white pizza we would order at Amalfi. I'm a seafood lover, so it was great to see all the new options on the menu. Two of us ordered the seafood stew, which was fantastic, one of us ordered pasta with shrimp, which was delicious, and one of us ordered the eggplant Parmesan, which I tasted and I must say it was at least as good, if not better, than the eggplant Parmesan I would get at Amalfi. In addition to the great food, the service was fantastic! Gladys was our server, and she was incredibly intentive plus we loved her bubbly personality. Truthfully, this was more like three and a half stars. My friend and I were looking for a good happy hour place. She suggested Chef Tony's because she really likes fried calamari and it was on the happy hour menu. I will say the place itself was very nice. Bright reds and blues make it colorful with lots of fish decorations on the wall. The service was awesome. Our waiter was there when we needed him, but gave us lots of time to talk. The happy hour menu offers lots of choices. My favorite dish was the grilled shrimp and cannoli beans with vegetables. That dish was perfectly prepared and delicious. We also ordered half price glasses of wine and they were a very generous poor. Our next dish was the fried calamari. It was okay. The breading didn't stick to the fish and I like my calamari cut into smaller pieces. My friend enjoyed her dish. The fried zucchini had a strange aftertaste. It was fried really well, but I couldn't get past the aftertaste. Maybe, it was some herb they added? The eggplant parmigiana was not prepared well. It was heavy and just didn't taste good. I would not recommend that dish. My friend also enjoyed her cup of crab soup, but said it was spicy. So, great service, but more misses than hits, at this happy hour. Will not return. Ordered $44 Branzino. Website said 1/2 experience is their deboning it at the table. Waiter said he didn't know how to debone. I asked if the kitchen would. My brother took my mother and me out for dinner here, and we had a great time. The food was DELICIOUS. Upon arrival, we were seated, and the dining area is super beautiful, cozy, and romantic. I love the artwork. We started with apps and got calamari and satay of marinated filet mignon. 10/10!!! It was so so good that we were lowkey fighting for the last piece of beef and plantains. For my main, I got the braised beef short rib. SO GOOD ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! The food was so so flavorful, the mashed potatoes were heavenly and addictive. I loved the portion sizes and felt I was definitely getting my money's worth. My brother got the Italian paella and it looked so good I almost snatched his plate. For dessert, we shared the caramel cheesecake and tiramisu. Once again super delicious - I can't even pick a favorite. Our server, Franklin, was amazing and so so kind. The white pizza was way too salty! It wasn't greasy, but I definitely would not order it again! It also had very little cheese and not much flavor! It was very flat and the crust was extremely crispy! It wasn't as good as before! The lobster was delicious! There was a up charge for asparagus of $3.00 and they were only 4 tiny pieces that were overcooked and way too salty! The lemonade was delicious! The meatballs and spaghetti was too dry and the meatballs seemed like they had not been made fresh! Looks like they repainted/renovated the outside, but stepping in, I was transported to an outdated Italian restaurant complete with creaking chairs. Intimate seating with low-lighting. Ambiance 2/5* I wasn't expecting much, but the food was great! Didn't care for the free bread, but the fried oysters and filet mignon satay were delicious. I got the lobster pasta with a few good sized chunks of lobster and the pasta was cooked well, but sauce got a little salty at the bottom. The grilled halibut with crab and cauliflower hash was also cooked well and we ate up every bite. Had mixed feelings about the vanilla cheesecake with strawberry Malbec sauce... the filling was creamy and delicious, but the sauce was over the top - only a thin drizzle but very overpowering and not enough strawberry taste. Italian ice/ice cream/sorbet was ok. Overall, food was a solid 4/5*. Service was also great. Waitress gave recommendations, but we did have to flag her down a couple of times. After getting our appetizers, she didn't take our entree order and we finished before we flagged her down. But overall 4/5* for service. OK, after seeing, reading and hearing SO many comments about Chef Tony's at Amalfi and this HEMI pizza which we had NO clue what it was, never heard of such a thing, so we decided to go tonight and check out the restaurant in Rockville. THAT pizza was THE BEST we have had anywhere, so far. No lie!!! AND to make sure we stayed to sample it at it's freshest, we ate inside the restaurant. I do like the non-traditional pizzas and toppings, and always in search of more gourmet or unique pies. I had the BBQ Chicken Hemi. Right amount of everything from the cheese to chicken, caramelized onions mixed well with the sweet BBQ drizzled on top, Bellisimo! Oh and the crust, just right, wasn't overly chewy, right amount of crisp yet surprisingly light for a deep dish style. My hubby ordered the Chicken Pesto Hemi which he thoroughly enjoyed. Again, from the awesome blend of cheese (definitely love the cheese!!!) to chicken, cherry tomatoes to Pesto drizzled, and well proportioned, tasty. We felt it was at a great price point for the quality and wonderful flavors. Did I mention the cheese? Yum! Oh and the bread served for dinner with oil was very good as well. I'd say the only disappointment was missing out on receiving our Caesar salad we ordered which was on my Must Try list. Our waiter was good and when we questioned the food runner where our salad was once the pizza was delivered, our waiter came by to apologize. We told him to cancel it, we'd come back to try another time. There were many delicious dinners, appetizers and desserts on the menu that was so tempting to order, but we were there specifically to try the pizza and SO glad we stuck to our plan. Yesterday, I ordered delivery through Yelp. The Tab was more than $130. Once it arrived, the food was acceptable. But, I discovered something criminal on the receipt. Instead of a $10 tip, the amount they charged me for the tip was $21.79. I don't know who was at fault; and I don't care. You don't automatically change amounts on a receipt and get away with it. I will NEVER, EVER use Chef Tony's seafood restaurant again. I don't trust Yelp, Never again. Their refusal to help me, when I wrote to complain, just sealed the deal. And, I will never allow DoorDash to deliver food Io my family again. In the past, their delivery people ate my food and delivered a messy bag. On a few occasions, they stole my food and never delivered it. One time, I received a text from someone who said that they had cancelled my order. When I called the restaurant, they swore up and down that the food was pickled up, and that was the end of their responsibility. I didn't use that restaurant again, for three years. I had thought that they had gotten their act together. I was incorrect. My opinion is unprintable. read more

At the time of this review, the appetizers were half off from 4-5:30. The service was terrific. We started with the Pan Roasted Brussel sprouts. Very unexpected flavor but in a good way. Pretty good. It's hard to tell from the outside, but the inside of the restaurant is lovely and eclectically decorated. We came for an early brunch so it wasn't very busy but seemed like a lot of takeout orders were going out. I had a savory waffle and the sauce that came with it was delicious. My partner had the eggs benedict which he really liked. They had a really good wine special going on that day so we ended up having a nice bottle of wine as well. My wife and I stopped in for lunch today March 1st 2026 at 1230 pm . We ordered the grilled Caesars salad and a dozen oysters. To make a long story very short my wife found a worm moving in her oysters . When we brought this to their attention they acted like it was nothing .. I highly recommend that no one goes to this restaurant. That could have made us very very sick .. never ever again and I urges everyone to reconsider ever going there . A party of 4 went here for a Saturday night dinner. We were seated and given menus and a couple of us got the Specials menu. We ordered Seafood stew, Stuffed shrimp, Seafood pasta and shrimp and crab lasagna. Everything came out in reasonable time except for the seafood stew which didn't show up until the wait for it had been so long that we had to ask about it. Not sure if they forgot it or what but it came out fairly quickly after we asked where it was. That person had to sit and watch the others eat for a while waiting on the stew to come out. The crab in the stew and the stuffed shrimp had too much cartilage in it. It should've been picked cleaner. The crab and shrimp in the lasagna was minimal and the lasagna seemed overcooked. The person with the seafood pasta said he'd order that again, but the ladies who ordered the stuffed shrimp and seafood stew said they'd order something else. I wouldn't order the lasagna again. First time here. I never tried Amalfis under prior ownership. So this review is based solely on the Chef Tony's Amalfi. I did however, try Chef Tony's Seafood at his other location. That's the reason I wanted to give this place a try. I enjoyed his Seafood restaurant. The wine and cocktail selection was pretty diverse. There is something for everyone. Only one recommendation. Many Italian restaurants tend to have sangria as an offering. Amalfis does not Just a suggestion but not a deal breaker. Ordered the peppers and crispy oysters for appetizer. Both super delicious and very flavorful. I would definitely order them again. However, the menu has so many options that I want to try it all! Entree choices were the chicken piccata that I thought was a wonderful twist. It had tomatoes, mushrooms and artichoke. Definitely not customary in your piccata. But all the additions made the sauce taste even better. Chicken was cooked to perfection and juicy on its own had it now also had the delicious piccata sauce. It comes with linguini, veggies mentioned in the piccata sauce. I really liked that because I always ask them to add the piccata sauce into my pasta instead of marinara. Amalfi you know me well! The lobster pasta was creamy but not heavy that it sinks in your stomach. It was very flavorful and it contained at least a whole lobsters worth of meat in the dish. That's impressive as some places skim on the meat. Service was prompt and they asked if I needed anything else often. A specials menu was also offered but I didn't order from there. We have been to this place twice. Lobsters were fresh and the veggies & baby potatoes were really tasty. My friend ordered the Seafood stew, portion was very small. For almost 30 bucks, 1 scallop, 3 shrimps, about 8-10 mussels plus a small portion of rice. (very little lose crab meat was found in the broth). It wasn't filling at all. Another friend ordered the seared "Jumbo" scallops, it was like an appetizer, took 5 minutes to finish and felt really hungry afterwards. Today's review is of a popular restaurant in Montgomery County Maryland called "Chef Tony's". Our group dined at the Rockville, MD location. First off the staff and patrons were nice. We even met Chef Tony himself who was a pleasure. The food was very good. I wouldn't say out of this world but it's definitely worth eating at more than once. The surf and turf wasn't what I expected. And while the shrimp and scallops were excellent, the steak was too salty and way too chewy. The stuffed salmon was delicious and definitely a winner. Crab cake was on point. The Seafood Stew was excellent as was the Seafood Paella. All in all the experience was a 3.7 out 5. We will definitely come back. Note: We don't recommend trying the appetizers "beef ravioli" or the "crab stuffed mushrooms". It was plated nicely but the taste was average and not worth the price. read more
