I dropped by Mamma Lucia's for a quick lunch. It was a famously simple, quick lunch stop. Service was fast, and I got a couple of large slices of pizza. They had quite a few different types, and I opted for two Blanco style pieces. The pizza wasn't anything to write home about, but it was good, and reasonable priced.

I love getting the pizza here! It just tastes so good! I'm a meat lover and, even though it's not the cheapest, I prefer coming here rather than all of the other pizza places in Bethesda.

How this place gets less than 5 stars is beyond me. Everyone there was super nice and the place was very clean. I got a NY style pepperoni slice and they added hot honey, very good. My wife got the cheese slice and loved it. We also got garlic knots and all my wife could say is how much better pizza and garlic knots are better on the East Coast (we are from LA). We were super shocked when we saw the bill and it was $12.11. Wtf?! So cheap and so good. How is this possible. I freaking loved it! Must try.

I'm always getting pizza from here. I usually get the supreme which is my absolute favorite. It's super fresh and I love the fact that they don't overload the sauce. Fresh veggies, meats, and crunchy crust! The service is quick and on point. I've never actually sat down here but it's cute. Cozy little spot in Bethesda. There is street parking. And this street is very congested so watch out lol.

Calamari, garden salad, and the AMAZING mushroom ravioli! Delicious

In town on a Business trip. Was craving Italian. Less than a 10 min walk from my hotel. Decided to check out and so glad I did! Food was fresh, delicious, came out fast, and had big portions! One of the BEST mushroom ravioli I've ever had! Customer service was great! And the outdoor seating was relaxing. Will definitely come here again when I'm back in Bethesda!

Great little Italian American restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is pleasant, although it can be busy and noisy depending on time of day. My waitress provided excellent service. On her recommendation I got the chef special gnocchi trio, which was incredibly delicious and one of the best things I've had in a while. Came with a Caesar side salad, and I got a wine to go with. Very filling, and a good value! I look forward to going back. If I could Change one thing, I wish they served some nice Italian espresso or coffee for after the meal.

Generous Pizza Slices! Today I tried Manma Lucia's pizza slices. The restaurant offers several choices: Cheese, Cheese/Pepperoni, "Meat" (sausage, pepperoni, bacon & ham). I ordered a slice of Cheese/Pepperoni & "Meat". Delicious! Fresh ingredients. Wow generous pizza slices! Prompt Courteous Customer Service. See Photo!

Stopped by here after shopping in the area and was pleasantly surprised! We tried the Calamari, Shrimp Bada Bing (a wonderful specialty sauce), Greek Pizza, Mussels and Linguine, Shrimp and Linguine, and Seafood Asparagus pasta with pink sauce. Everything was flavorful and incredible - the pink sauce was so addicting. The dish sizes are generous and everyone was satisfied after the meal. The servers were nice and attentive and we were checked on by what seems to be the store manager - he was walking around and making friendly conversation with all of the customers. Definitely would return!

    The Mama's Special!

Nice, friendly greeting with a big smile. Our server was kind enough to split our garden salad even though we didn't ask her to do it. The salad was zesty and crunchy! Delicious greens, yellow peppers, green bell peppers, pepperoncini, olives, onions and Cherry tomatoes. Love the vinaigrette dressing! The medium Mama's Special looked more like a large pizza. The this crust was loaded with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, ham, mushroom, olives, onions and chopped green peppers. It had just the right balance of cheese and red sauce. Also, the thin crust was evenly baked. It wasn't too doughy. It had just the right blend of crisp and flakiness.

Absolutely delicious. True family pizzeria. Dads making the pizza, son & daughter up front. Outdoor seating & dog friendly. Son even got some water for my doggie dude & the daughter (manager) was awesome & checked on everything. I got 2 cheese slices & a cannoli. The 2 slices were delicious reminding of back home in Boston. Thin, good crisp, quality cheese, sauce had great flavor & crust was flavorful, crunchy outside & soft inside. The cannoli was absolutely delicious cream shell, good mix of sweet & range from filling. Can't wait to be back to try a fresh pie. 1 bite, everybody knows the rules

This was such an exceptional find. The portobello mushroom ravioli was so good that I kept eating even after I was full. And the service was outstanding.

Any Marylander of the Boomer and GenX generation knows about O'Donnell's RUM BUNS. I used to come here with family back in its heyday and these were served table side before our meal. How crazy is that, a nice lil somewhat sinful dessert BEFORE some MD crab?! Those were the days! The rum buns are more nostalgia more than anything, I wouldn't say they'll blow your socks off, but hey, nostalgia is nostalgia. Well, I'll need to dine in here for a full and complete verdict, but my quick grab and go visit was a tad chaotic. Service for taking orders could improve - you walk in, there's a seafood counter to your left, bakery counter to your right (both were unmanned when I walked in) and in the middle is a deli section with the cash register where I assume they take orders. We stood there for a few good minutes before getting anyone's attention despite the fact a manager asking staff (not customers) if everyone was being helped. Clearly staff did not know who was waiting to check out, take orders or just waiting for their orders to arrive. So it was just weird. No one greeting you as you walk in either, it just also weird because there's no clear line anywhere you stand. Otherwise, rum buns were as I remembered them. Also picked up crab dip and chicken salad from the grab and go section from the back and they were just ok, not bad, not great. So will come again for a future visit hoping to have a much better meal and experience!

I was a little worried the food wouldn't be as good because it was so busy, but that wasn't the case at all. We ordered two Combo B (OH SNAP!) and one Combo F (FEELIN' CRABBY). For one of the Combo B, we added an extra 3 lbs of crawfish, 3 lbs of clams, and 2 lbs of Dungeness crab. For each pound of seafood boil, it comes with one corn and two potatoes. The seafood boil was drenched in their ultimate Juicy Special sauce. Their sauce is so good! It's packed with bold flavors and a nice spicy kick (This makes it addicting). You also can't sleep on potatoes and corn! It's soft and sweet which balances out the bold tastes! If you're craving a seafood boil, Juicy Seafood is the place to go! Everything tasted amazing, and it's such a great value. If you're not sure which sauce to choose, just go with the Juicy Special. I had some mild expectations when arriving at Barrel & Crow which were quickly met and exceeded. Our party of four enjoyed a truly delightful and delicious meal. From the moment we sat down, our server--Dan--delivered five-star service. He was genuinely friendly, attentive without hovering. His knowledge of the menu and thorough description of the dishes was also notable. Some were his favorites, so he really described them (all) with mucho gusto. It was like we were guests in his home. We basically ended up ordering literally everything he recommended and he was absolutely spot-on. We started with the fried green tomatoes and calamari. Our smorgasbord of entrées included the lamb bolognese (my favorite, though sadly not the one I ordered), a beautifully tender lamb shank, spiced shrimp and grits, and a deeply flavorful andouille and seafood gumbo. Each dish was thoughtful and well prepared, though the shrimp and grits were a bit savorier than I'm accustomed to. Dessert didn't disappoint either. We savored the chocolate torte and also their signature sweet beignets. They were the perfect ending to an already stellar meal.We left behind so many other tempting menu items and looking forward to our next visit.

We'll have to look for an opportunity when we are around the dog all day, so she can be on her own for a couple of hours, likely sleeping. Birdsong already is acclaimed. This is much more Thai and Thai American. Like Chinese or Italian cuisine before it, Thai flavors have assimilated to a palate not accustomed to the true strength of the spices. Birdsong is a remedy. They do not offer the pad thai that has become a staple, no longer exotic but to its detriment. (A digression. The history of pad thai, with contested origins, is fascinating. As you delve into these matters, you see how syncretic culture is. You also are exposed to the efforts to fashion a unifying mythology.) We ordered the chicken, the shrimp, the crab fried rice, the papaya salad, and the enhancement. The chicken and the shrimp were quality ingredients, prepared well. Although both proteins were fried, they felt clean. The crab fried rice was one option of many with the rice base. The papaya salad was fresh. The enhancement was radish with "fermented daikon, garlic, red onion, cilantro, palm sugar, and fish sauce scrambled with eggs for a balanced savory and sweet flavor," and the portion was generous: we put it on the rice, then I finished it off in an omelet the next morning. We have traveled to Bangkok. Thai spiciness exceeds what I would endorse, and I love hot dishes. Birdsong was much milder, though with sufficient pepperiness my wife, who does not share my preferences, remarked it was closer to her limit. They will work with you in this respect, and I'm confident I could request something that would test my capabilities. That is, in my book, all positive. The dishes that were mild according to the menu, were mild, but they were flavorful. If you do not like fish sauce, for example, you may not appreciate the offerings, which if they don't have fish sauce have something along those lines. I hope Birdsong fares well.

I've eaten Thai food on 3 continents and have found the genre reliably good even in some of the…read moremost remote corners of the globe. If you came to Birdsong craving Thai food let it be known that you will be severely disappointed as calling this Thai food is a direct affront to the dignity of the people of Thailand. A certain expectation and fulfillment of spice and delicious flavor are usually achieved upon dining at a Thai restaurant. Birdsong did not deliver on either of these fronts. We had the Basil Rice bowl which was recommended and according to the menu was one of the spicier entrees. A few bites in and the spice wasn't even registering. Let's us take a moment to reflect on the gravity of that statement- while eating at a Thai restaurant, a food genre beloved for its spice, one of the alleged spicier entrees didn't even register a single degree of heat. The ground pork that came over the white rice was dry and the dish was devoid of any sauce so therefore actual flavor for that matter. In practice this meant that 70% of the dish was just white fluffy rice without any sauce or seasoning. I could carry on about the abject failure of the other courses, or how we had finished both the appetizers before the waiter brought my date's beer which she had ordered upon arrival, but I will leave it here. So $94 for two very small apps, two beers and the most flavorless Thai entree I've ever had. Someone needs to smack the chef in the face and remind him he's the chef at a Thai restaurant, not a retirement home. Pathetic
