This is probably my favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is authentic, spicy and delicious. Be prepared because the food is spicy. Not the typical "how spicy could it be?" Found this place in Yelp and the reviews were right! This is my new favorite spot the sushi is great they give you more fish and extras than they do rice which is great! It's honestly some of the best sushi I have ever tasted. I got the beef hot pot and it was yum yum yum!! The service was good and they were very attentive! My only complaint would have been more beef less Bok choy but it was still amazing. Would recommend to everyone! read more

Authentic Szechuan cuisine, though if you order enough, the sauces and flavors start tasting the same. The service is great, and the menu is massive, with a variety of spicy meats, vegetables, and appetizers. Inside is spacious and well designed, with a bar and a sushi bar. First of all I'm giving the restaurant 5 stars because they just opened and I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. The restaurant is very spacious so there's plenty of room to have a party. The decorations and the ambience are very nice. As far as the food I had the beef with broccoli with brown rice and since it was the lunch special I had some hot sour soup which was very tasty. My wife had the tempura roll and shrimp pad thai. My mother in law had California roll. They both enjoyed their lunch. Linda the head waitress explain to us that the owner of this restaurant also has three restaurants in Manhattan. The staff was very friendly. They are still waiting on their liquor license but there is a very nice bar whenever they do get it. Just bear in mind this is not a buffet restaurant but they have Chinese and Japanese cuisine and the portions are very good. The restaurant is large enough to accommodate big parties. Linda told us you could put the tables together to accommodate 30 people there is plenty of room so it is a nice place to have a party for a large crowd or family. read more

This started as a takeout order. When I arrived for pickup, I asked the man at the register if everything was there. He said yes. (my bad, I didn't double check) Of course when I got home, it was the wrong order. So now I had to go back to New Hyde Park (from Massapequa ) .Since it was getting late, I told the restaurant we would eat there. When my wife and I arrived at the restaurant, we were seated and I asked for menus. Thinking maybe I would try something different than originally ordered. While we were presented with the menus, we never had a chance to order from them as the food from my takeout was being delivered to the table. I asked if this was the same food that was laying in a bag for over an hour and a half and was told no. Before being served, I took a look at the bench where the takeout orders are placed and saw mine still sitting there. As the food came out, it became apparent to me and my wife that this tasted like old reheated food. I went back to the bench and my order was gone. The eggroll was dry and overly crisp (a dark brown) the Lo Mein tasted stale, and the Crispy beef (ordered spicy) was cloyingly sweet. The worst part was the manager never came to the table to offer an apology for the mix up. Needless to say, we will not be going back. read more

DId not like this place. The food came out extremely slow. waiting nearly 40 minutes for all of our food the come out and the place was not even half packed. The service was good, but it wasn't busy at all. it should have been good. We ordered the soup dumplings, hong kong style pan fried noodles and hot and sour soup. The food was mediocre and lacked the flavor of other places. Maybe this is authentic chinese food , but I didn't enjoy it. I have eaten more times than I care to remember at many restaurants in both Flushing and Manhattan. First of all, I want to say that many of the negative reviews here are by people who I believe never have eaten at the best Sichuan restuarants in New York and really don't know what authentic Sichuan food tastes like. As for their menu being too varied- you have no choice offering some different styles of Asian food when operating on Long Island. There just isn't enough adventurous people on Long Island to sustain only Sichuan food, which is very spicy and, let's just say, a little too authentic for most Long Islanders tastes! That said, everything I have eaten here so far has been better than any dish I have eaten at a Long Island Chinese restaurant. The quality and freshness is a cut above what is available at most of the better Chinese restaurants In Nassau County or Queens. And if you like truly spicy Sichuan food, there is no other place in this area except Chef Wang. As for their sushi bar...it's very good, and the the sushi chef is very hard working and culinarily curious, which is a good thing. All in all though, if you live in Nassau or anywhere near the Queens-Nassau border, and you like fresh spicy Chinese food, this is the best place around, bar none. read more

The Best Szechuan food I have ever had the pleasure of eating. A common dish of Kung Pao Chicken kicked up 3 notches by a surprise Ingredient that brought sweetness to the heat (finally). The Grand Marnier Walnut Prawns were amazing, the sauce perfect in flavor and texture! And (hang on to your hats) this was a take-out order! So plentiful, we're still satisfied 12 hours later. This was a wonderful find, since we definitely need more authentic Chinese places on Long Island without entering Queens. I am not a fan of spicy food, which is the one red flag when going to a Sichuanese restaurant. Sichuan food, arguably the spiciest branch of Chinese food, is very rare in Long Island, which is why this place opened. The restaurant stands alone on the street with little flags and a bright entrance. I love the walkway into the restaurant, crossing over a bamboo bridge over a "river" and a waterfall. The decor tries to be intimate, but falls a bit short. The walls are very bland, the atmosphere is strange, but the chairs were nice and comfy. The service here is excellent, very accommodating, professional. They knew what they were doing and it couldn't be proven that the restaurant opened just a few months ago. The menu is quite large, with the American entrees, the ultra spicy Sichuan entrees, each having 2 or more pepper signs next to the name, hot pot, and a full Japanese menu, made from the visible sushi bar near the kitchen. They have three rooms, a main dining room, a similar dining room to the right of the entrance, and a full bar. Prices are reasonable, not the cheapest, but the restaurant is huge and they sort of stress fine dining. We started off with a nuts appetizer, so people with nut allergies, BEWARE of this. They were a nice start. We ordered the typical soup dumplings, which were a bit more expensive than they should have been. They came out after 15 minutes, very hot. Some weren't closed completely, so one or two exploded. The flavors were so complex. You had the typical soupy, fatty flavor, along with a sweet substance that I wasn't expecting. The skin was very thin. Overall, this was one of my favorite soup dumplings I've had over the course of a year or two. Entrees came out together, all presented beautifully. I ordered the beef noodle soup, which I shouldn't have, since it was very spicy. Since the meat and broth were pre-made, they couldn't really lessen the spice. The broth color was a dark red. The beef and noodles were delicious. The beef was so tender. The broth had very nice taste, but it was very hot for me, but for a person who eats Sichuan food often or can tolerate high intensity foods, this would not be a problem. Their sesame chicken is fantastic, very succulent, great taste, generous portion. If you decide to come here, get their cumin lamb. It is so good. It isn't extremely spicy, but the peppers are on the side. The lamb was perfect, with an authentic taste. It was a great portion, served with spicy red peppers, celery, and green onion. An authentic meal at a very good Chinese restaurant, one that I may go back to. read more

In my never-ending quest for the best Szechuan Chinese in NY, I have found my new home. To start off...you need to appreciate the authenticity they are bringing to the table. Szechuan at its core is a balance between the heat of the chilies, the numbing effects of Szechuan peppercorns (which were illegal to import for many years) and the sour that can only come from the black vinegar. They are doing an excellent job of introducing a populace that grew up on Americanized Chinese food (mostly Cantonese in style) to the taste bud tingling cuisine of the Chendu Provence. I highly recommend these must have dishes which they can adjust the spice level to: dumplings in roast chili oil, scallion oil cucumber, braised sliced fish in hot chili oil (not as spicy as you would think), chendu roast duck (in soup..amazing), dry spicy crispy pork chop, dry sautéed string beans, sautéed pea leaves with white garlic sauce (seasonal). All of the soups are very good. Their Americanized Chinese is also very good. As a kid, my family would make a 45 minute drive to get good chinese food. My 80+ year old parents now make the 25 minute drive for the best Authentic Szechuan Cuisine on Long Island. I stopped going to my favorite place in Flushing after the recommendation from Dick G, a Yelper whose opinion I value, and only go here. Please support these wonderful culinary artists. This place is awesome. First, its not your typical strip mall Chinese Restaurant. The inside is huge and really nice that includes a bridge and a koi pond. The staff are very professional and the atmosphere is great. Now, about the food...it's a Szechuan style restaurant with a large menu. I've tried something new each time I've come here and they never disappoint. Right now I'm having My Shu and they are making the pancakes table side for me. I've has the crispy pork intestines and it was nice and spicy and tasty. They have a lot of different things to choose from, some unusual if you're not used to this style of food. Decided to try out Chef Wang's and it was excellent! It's definitely a bit more Americanized than traditional Asian foods, but we only ordered two entrees, so I'm not sure what the rest are like. As other people have said, the scallion pancakes were light and flaky and not too oily: so yum!! Other appetizers we ordered were the Mango Chicken Wings (good, but overpriced) and pork egg rolls. I've ordered takeout from Chef Wang's at least three times. I've found that they excel in a few dishes but do subpar in others. Hot and sour soup: excellent Chicken and broccoli: very good when they follow instructions to use less oil; otherwise it like most of their dishes is too oily. However, the flavor is much more complex than standard Chinese American chicken and broccoli. Duck soup: Not worth the $18 price. Far too salty to even have more than a sip. Chicken with chestnuts: excellent flavor but where is the chicken?? My dish had plenty of fat, skin and cartilage, but I was extremely disappointed to not find more than a single Bite of chicken that was edible. Beef with cumin: very good flavor albeit far too salty, though not inedible. Cucumber with scallion oil: excellent. To the owner: thank you for responding! As I said above, I would love to try your food again, but would suggest ensuring whole pieces of chicken in your "chestnut chicken", and less salt in your duck soup, and less oil overall. read more

I live in Garden City and have tried a bunch of Chinese food restaurants in the area. This is my favorite. Their soup dumplings are delicious. I really like their chicken and broccoli - I often order just the broccoli in brown sauce with rice and it is a good way for me to eat a giant bowl of broccoli. Excellent egg rolls. Taking off a star because I like some appetizer items better at other places (pan fried pork dumplings, shumai) and sometimes they don't deliver the full order (forget the rice sometimes). Came back with my wife and had a few dishes. Braised Beef noodles - A+ in my books. Wish it had more noodles though Dan Dan mein - My wife's favorite and a winner. Mapo tofu - Perfect amount of spices. Would repeat. Shanghai soup dumplings - Needs more work. It's just not as flavorful as Joe's shanghai or other offerings in Flushing. Read so many good reviews that got me excited, and determined, to try it this place this past weekend... and so very glad I did!!! Was here Sunday evening. Ambiance was nice, clean and inviting. Parking was full but there was off-street parking that worked. We ordered the dumpling soup (little juicy pork buns) appetizers, salt/pepper prawns, fried beef w cumin, yang zhou fried rice, and Cheng du spicy fish and sautéed snow pea sprouts.... ALL WERE JUST AMAZING and did not disappoint my expectation. Regret was didnt come here sooner. They were 4 of us, all first timers and we definitely will be coming back. In fact, planning a dinner with a few of our friends already. Price was good, serving was just right. Recently went to Chef Wang's Chinese Restaurant to celebrate my daughters 25th Birthday. She wanted really good Chinese Food, and since the weather was not the best, we decided to skip the trip to Flushing and stay local. Based on internet reviews, Chef Wang's was a rare Chinatown quality restaurant on Long Island. In general, food quality was good, not great. Scallion pancakes were nothing special. Pork dumplings were tasty but on the small side. General Tao's Chicken was good but could have used more sauce. Overall, portion size did not impress. Service was so-so. Seems like the wait staff lost interest in our table once the order was placed. Not sure I would go back to Chef Wang's. I have been to better Chinese Restaurant on Long Island. read more
