I came here by chance as this takeout restaurant is next to my neighborhood shoe/bag repair shop where I came by to pick something. A good alternative to my regular take out place. Located in a corner of Hillside and Langdale St - has perfect view of the road if decided to stay in. My order didn't take long- I tried their fried scallop with pork fried rice, nothing fancy about it. Price is affordable, $8 and change including a bottled water. The dine in area which could serve about 10 people is neat. It has adoring Chinese decorations in the ceiling and a gigantic fish tank for viewing pleasure. Had a horrible experience last week - I ordered two different entrees for delivery - for me and my daughter one was shrimp fried rice and one shrimp lo mein all no veggies. Both entrees tasted burnt!! It was later in the evening so my guess is they cooked this all in old recycled oil. We both couldn't finish our meal it was horrid! Ordered chicken in garlic sauce lunch special (7 bucks). The meal wasn't bad; it also wasn't good. It was forgettable. The hot and sour soup that I got to go with it was fabulous. I've had worse lunches, I've had better. Not my neighborhood, so I won't go out of my way to get it again. Too bad. read more

Not sure what is the bad review but the whole neighborhood loves Jian on. If we want a Chinese food fix... this is where we go. The pace is clean, they have a good exhaust that you won't smell if you decide to stay in. Great service... Owner greet you with a smile. I've lived in New Hyde Park since 2000, almost 20 years now, and I've always found the food here to be great. This Chinese restaurant is a neighborhood classic. Back when I was in high school, I remember trying to save up money with my friends to get food from here after playing basketball or going for a swim. The employees are all very nice and are happy to provide you with quality food that tastes great. You really can't go wrong with ordering anything from here. The interior is small, but I've almost always ordered food as takeout or for delivery from here. Most recently, I purchased 1 egg roll, 2 orders of fried chicken wings, and 3 lunch specials (General Tso's chicken, chicken & broccoli, and jumbo shrimp with garlic sauce). Each lunch special came with soup/soda (we got the wonton soup) and white/brown/pork fried rice (we got brown rice and pork fried rice). The delivery person arrived quickly and was courteous as he delivered fresh food to us. The portion sizes were large and the food tasted delicious. I've never regretted a purchase from here and I would definitely return for more. read more

As far as Chinese takeout goes, this is probably one of the best ones I've eaten from in NY. Of course, its the 'American-based' Chinese food and nothing authentic so there's always that complain, but what do you expect? Its takeout!!! Over all the years of ordering from this local spot, they've never failed to deliver/prepare on time; never failed in proper etiquette and service; and never failed in food prep (I don't remember a time that I've gotten something undercooked or overcooked). Also, in my opinion, their sesame chicken does not compare!!! This Chinese restaurant was very disappointing, my coworkers and I tried to eat some place new and never again will we order from here! We all got different meals and each one of us had the same response. The general Tsos chicken was pink inside the food had zero flavor! I've been coming here for years. My favorite chinese food spot in the area. Owner is super friendly and knows what my family and I like. Big fan of the ribs, the boneless spare ribs and the plain lo mein. My family usually orders the fried rice, fried wontons and sesame chicken and they all love it. It was great to see this neighborhood takeout open again after weeks of Covid closure. Understandably their prices have gone up but it's still worth it! An order of fried chicken wings consists of 4 complete wings (not cut-up segments like from other places) and were fresh and deliciously crunchy. In our opinion, much more satisfying than Popeyes or other takeout places. As other reviewers have mentioned, their lunch specials are a good deal. Cash only. There's usually plenty of street parking. On Tuesday June 23 around 10:00 pm, I ordered a small barbecue spare ribs and a order of singapore noodles. When I got home I prepared to sit down and eat and opened by food container I was angry and disappointed at the contents of my order. They had put (3) baby back ribs on top of a few rib tips (that were burned). The noodles were old, mushy and soggy and cut up in rice grain lengths. I had called and specifically asked for barbecued spare ribs medium cooked and a order of singapore noodles. They were closed by the time I had gotten home. I went this morning to return the food and the Woman (owner) was at the table by the door, I proceeded to tell her why I was bringing the food back and she snatched the bag and threw my money at me and told me to leave and get away. Like everyone, we've tried many places of the years. This place will season your dish as spicy as you like it. They also offer fried tofu--everyone else makes theirs slimy. They offer chicken almond ding, which I always get, but will occasionally try another dish, which never disappoints. We make a speak mention of it when we order over the phone and ask that the food not be refried, and they always honor our request. My family and I have been ordering out from this location since we have been living in the neighborhood for the past 15ish years. They are your local, dependable Chinese take out eatery. We always have their chicken with broccoli ,which is the standard to which I compare every other chicken with broccoli to. Their boneless spare ribs are sweet and always a good cut. Ordered beef with scallions. It was more like scallions with beef. It didn't even equivocate to 1/2 a cup of beef .... literally. Scallions tasted as if they were fresh or washed and they also had regular onions in there so the dish was 15% beef, 50% scallions and 35% onions. Beef was also breaded ... I do not believe I have ever reviewed something before, but. Wow this was horrendous. I was not sure my sesame chicken was in fact chicken and not some soy seitan thing. Both the eggplant with garlic sauce and the Hunan bean curd were made with the same burnt tasting gel.
