    Side salad with ranch dressing

My little family of 4 stopped in for dinner after the rain ruined our park time and I'm so happy we did! We started with a pretzel that had amazing jalapeño cheese. I had a Hawaiian burger with a side salad and it was delicious! My husband had the picante burger that was also delicious! Our boys shared waffle fries and chicken tenders. My phone died before the entrees so I didn't get any pics. Give this place a try. Don't forget the ice cream!

We don't eat out too often, but when we do our goal is usually to find a hidden gem in a small town and give them a try. Tonight we made the 25 min. drive to Richwood to try Chef's Parlour. It was worth every single minute in the car. We started with the chili cheese deviled eggs and the arancini. Both were excellent, but that sauce for the arancini was the star of our appetizers. My daughter ordered the Hawaiian smash burger and she really enjoyed it. My husband got the big poppa chicken sandwich. He told our waiter that it was the best chicken sandwich he's ever had. I did try a bite and it was phenomenal. The jalapeños spread was 5 stars. As a lover of all things pickle I ordered the big dill and it was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time with a creamy dill spread and fried dill pickle spears on top. Goodness. I would truly recommend that burger to any person that loves pickles like myself. For the portion sizes the prices were extremely fair. There are a few tables and modern chairs inside so you can dine it. It does appear that they also server alcohol and boozy shakes (not on Sundays). We shared a peach cheesecake sundae and it was amazing! Pie crust at the bottom with a fresh peach filling. If you're heading to Richwood, definitely give this place a try. It sits right on the corner of an intersection and there are parking spots out front.

Instead of put together sloppily like a fast-food place would have, Smash Shack Burgers spent time stacking their burgers and making them look just as amazing as they taste. I had a side of mac & cheese, which was delicious as well. The staff were extremely kind and very patient. We were greeted by a staff member immediately and had the menu explained to us. Everything in the building was very clean and organized, I saw no spills or dirty tables at all. There is only one 2-seat table inside along with some benches lining the sides. This is very understandable due to the limited space. However, there are a few picnic tables outside that were also extremely clean and tidy. Would definitely come back!

I checked the menu several times, and "coney sauce" was never listed as part of the dish. When I tried to address the issue, the customer service was very disappointing. The manager apparently didn't feel the situation was important enough to address, and the employee at the counter seemed annoyed that I even brought it up. I wasn't asking for a refund -- I simply wanted what I actually ordered. Instead, I left feeling ignored and unheard. Customer service and communication matter just as much as the food.

This super cute little diner is family-owned and operated, and from the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. We had the pleasure of meeting Tania and her granddaughter Maddy, who were both incredibly friendly and genuinely excited that we stopped by. The diner is absolutely oozing with personality. It feels like you're visiting family... if family charged you for a great hamburger! I ordered the Body Bearded Burger, a smash burger topped with your choice of cheese, crispy bacon, peanut butter, and the option to add jelly for just 99 cents. They offer grape or strawberry jelly, and of course I had to try it. All burgers come with fresh-cut fries, though you can upgrade to onion rings for a small additional charge. The burger was outstanding. Cooked perfectly on the griddle and served on a nicely toasted bun, every bite was packed with flavor. The peanut butter added a rich, nutty taste, the bacon brought a salty crunch, and the jelly added just the right touch of sweetness. It sounds like an unusual combination, but trust me--it works incredibly well. The fresh-cut fries were a great side, and the whole meal felt like classic diner comfort food done right. If you're anywhere near Bellefontaine, do yourself a favor and stop by Don's Downtown Diner. Great food, great people, and the kind of hometown atmosphere that's becoming harder and harder to find.

Home of the Famous Bologna Sandwich…read more That's the bold claim G & R Tavern has been making in Waldo, Ohio for more than 60 years, and judging by the line waiting outside when we arrived shortly after noon, plenty of people believe it. Located in a village of about 300 residents, G & R Tavern has become one of Ohio's most popular destination restaurants. Visitors come from all over the state to try the sandwich that put this small-town tavern on the map. Founded in 1962 by George Yake and Roy Klingel, G & R Tavern has become a true Ohio institution. In 1985, Rick's family purchased the restaurant and has continued the tradition ever since. During our visit, I had the opportunity to speak with Rick and learn that the next generation is already preparing to carry on the family tradition. In a time when many independent restaurants struggle to survive from one generation to the next, that's something worth celebrating. The atmosphere is exactly what longtime fans have come to love. Wood-paneled walls, a bustling dining room, homemade pies in the dessert case, and an old-school charm that feels increasingly rare today. Even the cash-only policy somehow feels right at home here. As for the famous sandwich, it continues to live up to its reputation. This Ohio classic features a thick-cut slice of fried bologna topped with melted American cheese, sweet pickles, and onion on a soft bun. It's simple, flavorful, and easy to understand why people continue making the trip to Waldo year after year. Perhaps the strongest endorsement came from my wife, who ordered the fried bologna sandwich as well. That's not something she would normally choose, but she thoroughly enjoyed it. The fries were hot and crispy and made a great companion to the meal. Some places become popular for a season. Places like G & R Tavern become part of Ohio's history. Lunch at Woody's Diner: A Buckeye Superfan's Dream…read more If heaven has a diner, it needs to be like Woody's--otherwise, I don't want to go. As a lifelong Ohio State fan, walking into this place felt less like lunch and more like stepping straight into Buckeye Heaven. Every inch of the diner is drenched in scarlet and gray pride--autographed photos, jerseys worn by real players, helmets, and memorabilia that makes you want to stand up and belt out "Carmen Ohio." I knew before even cracking the menu: I was home. Our server, Grace, was all smiles and Buckeye spirit. She gave us the rundown--Woody's has been serving up Buckeye-influenced eats for about 15 years. And it shows. The burgers aren't just burgers here--they're tributes, each named after coaches, players, or football legends. Picking one felt like draft day. Grace recommended the Dustin Burger, named after former Buckeye great Dustin Fox. Now, I'll admit--when I heard "peanut butter on a burger," my first reaction was the same as when Michigan wins a game: complete disbelief. But I trusted Grace. And let me tell you... this was no trick play. This half-pound beauty came stacked with peanut butter, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg. It sounds strange, but somehow the combo worked like a perfectly executed Flea Flicker. The bun was grilled, the burger cooked to a juicy medium rare, and by the second bite I needed a stack of napkins big enough to block a defensive line. My wife went with the Tailgate Burger--a powerhouse with house-made BBQ sauce, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, Miracle Whip, and onion straws. Cooked to medium well, it was sweet, tangy, and messy enough to require its own offensive coordinator. She said it was delicious--though maybe a little too "sloppy touchdown celebration" for her liking. And get this--burgers are just the start. The menu is huge, with pizzas, sandwiches, and even big entrees like grilled steak and pork chops. But honestly, when the burgers are this good, I don't know if I could ever call another play. So here's my verdict: Woody's Diner = Buckeye pride + killer burgers + friendly staff = one unforgettable lunch. If you're a Buckeye fan, or just a burger fan, or hey, even if you're that rare soul who just likes food with personality--high tail it to Woody's. Trust me, it's worth it. Until next time, I'm Brian -- and remember to Take the Trip! (And yes, I may have sung the Ohio State fight song all the way home. My wife can confirm.)
