Located in Dillingham shopping center near the Thang's smoothie/boba tea place and across from Pancakes and Waffles and the Kam Bakery that sells those amazing poi donuts, Chef's Ramen is a small little restaurant that sells mainly ramen dishes but also fried rice, fried noodles, and curry. We have been here twice and my husband enjoyed the food both times. He said the Oxtails soup was better and different to Zippys. I didn't really care for the spicy garlic butter shrimp plate because I was comparing to the food trucks on the north shore, which are pretty much the best! But overall the food here is good and the service is really excellent, and prices are reasonable ranging from like $9-$12 for a meal and appetizers are around $5. read more

Wow...what a great place. Great for the whole family. We ordered everything to go, so I can only imagine that it tasted even better if it didn't sit in my truck for the ten minute ride home. The wife ordered the tan tan vegetable ramen. Really good broth. A little spicy and slightly peanuty. LOTS of veggies. I had the spicy beef. Also really good, but needed just a bit of soy...I like salt. My three boys shared a chicken katsu curry rice and a SPAM katsu curry rice. The curry sauce was completely amazing. Best I've had on Oahu. Tastes just CoCo Ichibanya in Japan (not so much the ones here). We also had the Kim chi fried rice...also amazing. I think I finally found my go-to ramen place. Ramen, Saimin, noodles, etc... I am there. Lately Hawaii has been having some really bad VOG air quality which is making me sick sometimes & affecting my respiratory system. So a lot of the popular saimin places were already filled and I came across this place looking for somewhere that was filled to the brim. Just so happen I came across this place. I am so glad that I came in and ate here. I like to try the expensive ones first.. So their Special House Ramen with black truffle oil is what I ordered it was soo different from regular saimin that I was use to. Plus I could tell the Ramen broth was REALLY homemade. The noodles was not an instant type of taste it is fresh noodles. So for me, this was totally worth the price and I am coming back for this all the time. I also ordered their homemade croquettes, which by the way not too many places has this. Sorry no pictures it was too delicious to stop and take a picture.. lolol. My husband ordered the Chicken Curry as you can see below, but he didn't want to let me take a picture of it so he ate most of his before I finally got a picture of it. He said the curry is one of the best that he had. Just to let you know we are not really curry people because not too many places makes it authentic. But these guys do!! My family and I dined here during lunch a few days ago. We were planning to eat in this area since we were gonna pick up something from Kalihi Pet Center. It was then when we noticed this new ramen joint. We ordered two ramens -- one pork belly tonkotsu ramen and one char siu tan tan ramen. We also ordered a curry fried rice. All items were accompanied by free gyoza since it was their grand opening. Both ramens were decent. The tonkotsu broth was acceptable, but it lacked depth. The tan tan was slightly spicy, but that too lacked depth to it. The noodles were mediocre. The highlight was the huge chunk of pork belly in the tonkotsu ramen! It was very flavorful and tender!! Our curry fried rice turned out to be a-okay. Nothing spectacular, but not horrible either. Each grain of rice was well coated with curry, but the small pieces of meat that was in the fried rice was kinda too dry. Service was satisfactory. The lady that worked the counter and served us did a reasonably good job. All in all, it was a decent dining experience. But would I come back on a regular basis? Probably not, since there are so many ramen places around these days and many of them serve better authentic ramen than them. read more

It's great to have an artisan ramen place in the heart of Kalihi at City Square shopping center. I had the black garlic oil ramen with parmesan cheese for the umami kick. They use Kalihi neighbor Sun Noodles which is a nice touch. The egg didn't have that orange yolk that I like, but it was good. The place is a bit small but the dining area is clean and new. Along with Kamehameha Bakery, Sugoi, Young's Fish Market and Pancake and Waffles, Chef's Ramen is rounding out City Square to be a destination spot for good grinds. read more

Chef's ramen just opened and I was looking for a place to eat near the office, I love raman so how could I pass up the opportunity to try a new raman shop? Located in Dillingham plaza it can get quite busy and hard to find parking. I tried the Char Siu Tan Tan Ramen and I was very satisfied, the broth was very flavorful and the portions are actually pretty big. The prices are also very reasonable. I don't think there are any other Ramen places around so I think this place is worth the try. read more

We came here because the line was too long at Sugoi's and my kids were hungry. This is one of the best ramen shops on the island and I wish they had more space so they could do more business. It's a takeout and small sit down restaurant and like many ramen shops they offered the basics including: tan tan, miso, shoyu, fried rice and gyoza combos etc. They also had some species they called "indulgences" and we ordered off this list. We ordered spicy beef and the pork belly ramen. The pork belly ramen is why I am writing this review. It was made from a pork broth and was extremely rich. Topped with a generous amount of green onions, mushrooms, choysum, and an egg cooked perfectly. It included a large piece of pork belly about 4"x3". Once mixed the flavors combined to make this place my new favorite ramen shop to visit again with family and friends regardless of the parking and tight space. Decided to come here on a whim just from skimming through Yelp. So glad we came! We both ordered the black garlic oil parmesan ramen with char siu and I was pleasantly surprised! The flavor of the broth was perfect paired with the char siu and cheese. Just perfect! The gyoza is a bit different from other ramen places as the wrapper was a little thick. Still good nonetheless. Knocked off a star because we ordered the mango "snow ice" which was not that great. If you're thinking about it, skip it! Otherwise the ramen here is pretty tasty and will be sure to hit the spot if that's what you're craving. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

Luxurious pork bone broth, soft boiled egg w/creamy yolk, perfect noodles, and a thick hunk of melt in your mouth pork belly that's been braised in a tangy soy NOT just the run of the mill slice of chasiu pork. Chef ramen is your average local ramen place, and by local i mean non Japanese to make Japanese ramen. It doesn't quite work no matter how many times you watch ramen girl. The broth isn't terrible, but it lacks something. The Katsu ( my fave dish of coarse!) is quite thin and quite dry. The curry is very sweat, almost too much. The food was delivered fast, hot, and fresh (so ubereats was not the problem) but the flavor was just not there. The tonkotsu ramen was bland. The broth was underwhelming. It tasted like it was watered down. Bland. It did not have that umami, porky, rich tonkotsu flavor I was hoping for. The charsiu was kinda tough. The egg was okay. The serving size was good but the food itself was underwhelming. I cant get over the fact that it did not taste like tonkotsu ramen.
