I'm l lover of game such as venison and wild boar. Both are hard to get. I found a place in Texas…read morewhich has both. I love to support local vendors. We were at a wine pick up in the village and walked by this butcher store. They had wild boar but ground. I asked about wild boar meat for a goulash/stew. I was expecting a response such as we can keep wild boar for you and not grind it for you because most customers like it ground. I also asked about venison. I explained that I have an online source but prefer to buy local. Rather than telling me they could obtain both for us on special order, we were just dismissed. We pay an enormous amount of money for expedited shipping from Texas. And the meat is not cheap. It's just bad business practice not to cater to local patrons when you have access to "exotic meats".

I stopped by to check out their selection, and I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety they had! I ended up grabbing a filet mignon, ribeye, and some of their applewood bacon. All were absolutely delicious once cooked (yay)!! The gentleman working there was super welcoming and took the time to show me everything they had, while answering all of my questions for a good 15 minutes! Love supporting great local businesses like this!

Love this little store!!! In fact, on a weekend I'd much…read morerather stop here than the local Vons. It's small but has everything you need on a quick basis!! Their fruits and veggies are not only super fresh, and easy to find and grab, but also cheap compared to Vons. My favorite however is the amazing PanDulce they have. Not the biggest selection, but definitely fresh and great tasting!! Also, they have masa and fresh Mexican food items you wouldn't really find elsewhere like the pre-med masa base for the sopes, which are cheap and delish! Also they have some really great store-made salsas. They also have a lb of chorizo for less than $2 in their refrigerated section. I haven't t tried their meat department yet, but I will definitely have to come back to try them. So if you want quality, good prices and a small authentic Mexican grocery store, come here. Or don't come and let me enjoy the fact that it's always empty :) But I'm sure the owners would appreciate more customers lol. Anyway, you'll be surprised at this great little store.

We ordered Carnitas tacos, I'd say they were pretty good no scrimping on the meat w lots of onion and cilantro good salsa. We shop here every once in a while when we are in need of a more authentic Mexican product for cooking. I would recommend stopping in for some of your tacos. I doubt that the burritos are probably just as good. I think we were the first one in this morning. The young man behind the counter was friendly. It's a market with piñata wheat bread produce a meat market and lots of other supplies, soap, product and pan phone card all kinds of items. Some items may be a little more on the pricey side.

You can tell there's real care behind what they do. Everything feels intentional, from the quality of the meat to the fact that they practice whole-animal butchery and source locally through Hobson Family Farms. Love supporting businesses that are actually rooted in the community instead of just slapping "local" on a label. Also obsessed that they make everything in-house... jerky, sausages, beef sticks, bone broth powder, seasonings, even beef tallow. They also carry artisan bread, fresh produce, and organic milk, so somehow I walked in for meat and left feeling like a pioneer woman lol. The space itself feels warm, welcoming, and very Ventura in the best way. Clean, rustic, community-oriented... the kind of place where you can tell the regulars genuinely love coming in. It has that old-school neighborhood butcher shop energy but without feeling intimidating or pretentious. The staff was super welcoming and patient answering questions without making anyone feel intimidated. Whether you know your cuts of meat or you're just there because someone told you "trust me," they make the experience approachable. Honestly feels like one of Ventura's hidden gems. Made my husband very happy. He literally made flank steak the second we got home and was completely content. Now he's suddenly talking about buying a smoker!

All 4 of us ordered the Tri Tip sandwiches. The tri tip was very flavorful! probably the best tri tip I had ever had. TH=here was some good smoke flavor in that meat. Sliced very thin, it was so easy to eat. No fighting the meat. Bread was buttered. BBQ on the side was Sweet Baby Ray's. I found that the BBQ sauce took away from the sammich, so I did very little dipping. If I come again, which I hope I do, I will order that sammich, but prepared in the same manner in which they prepare the roast beef sandwich. We took some chile verde sausages home to try, and those have a strong and memorable chile taste. For people who do not like spicy, beware. For the rest of us it is a satisfying burn. It is a pork sausage. Wife denied the purchase of the blackberry habanero sausage, so I will be left wondering about those. We also grabbed their pesto mayo. We will be trying that this week. I think I would have liked it on my tri tip sammich. I love pesto on anything. Place ain't cheap, but what is?
