Recently stopped here for lunch at the recommendation of someone. It's a bit out of the way from the usual main stops in Santa Maria, but they have a parking lot and lots of space to sit inside. I opted for a grilled chicken burrito, which was delicious. The service was great and quite a few people were dining in. My issue and reason for giving 4 stars is due to live music they had playing in the restaurant that was obnoxiously loud. I couldn't hear to even have a conversation at my table, let alone communicate with the waitress. It was horrible. I would have moved outdoors if they had outdoor tables. Had that been playing when I walked in, I would've left. It was not an enjoyable stop for lunch. read more

I wish the chips were more crispy instead of crunchy. I ordered their asada fries. I requested the fries to be crispy / well done. Food came out timely and at the right temperature. Who ever the Sunday chef is needs to be trained to cook hot food. Now this place is my go to for one specific plate I like. Well Sunday wasn't the day to go. My whole plate came out cold af including the tortillas. Rice cold. Beans lukewarm. Meat burnt and lukewarm. Tortillas hard an barely warm. The last time I was here, it was called Connie's Restaurant. Right at the start finding the service is really great here, the server gave us advice on what to buy. Then we had another young lady come up to us and greet us just with pleasantries and wished me a happy birthday and when leaving again thanked and wished me a happy birthday. I got to say the menudo is probably the best menudo in town. I use to frown on too much meat and not enough hominy and not as good as my sister's menudo, and I've tried most of the Mexican restaurants here in town and gave up and now just buy a can of Juanita's Menudo and a can of pato sauce. I was first skeptical because this menudo didn't come with hominy, but after putting g in the onions, cilantro and lemon I can again say this is the best menudo in town. The meat was tender and onions sweet. This is where I'm getting my menudo in the future, I may have to buy a can of hominy if they don't include it. There was 5 of us and we couldn't finish the Plato Mexicano, we needed 3 take out containers. If you haven't been here you need to check it out. read more

We average a visit once every two years, but it is our favorite Mexican restaurant in SMA. Service is always friendly and prompt. Restaurant is clean, and ubiquitous Latin music is set at just the right level to enjoy w/out taking away from conversation. The food? It's good. It's a good spot. Some items are better than others. The sopes are great... most of their dishes are very good. Their meat can be hit or miss so when it's a real meat focused dish, like tacos, the meat may be dry. But overall a good spot I'd recommend to friends. read more

Did we mention this to the waiter no but I should have. The place is nice n quiet and the waiter was very kind. Would we come back probably not. Great server!!!! My food and son was ok, However crap on my fork. Had to wait 10 minutes for a clean fork. Son in-law food was delayed. They messed up on order. Think cooks messed up. His meal came last, took a bite, food was cold. And only partial order. Wow, so this happened. In the 90's I used to go to a restaurant named "Connie's". Always had good food and good prices. Then they disappeared from the yellow pages, from yelp and any other place I could think of finding them. Fast forward (sound of pages tearing) to 2017, and Connie's is now El Pueblito (the little town). All orange and wood on the inside- yeah, that takes a mighty will, but stay for the food- Ot's delicious, freshly prepared and pretty generous (servings). My friend and I split a #16 (chile relleno, cheese enchilada and a hard-shell chicken taco, rice, beans) and a couple of glasses of water, along with the complimentary chips and spicy salsa, and were out for under $20 with a $4 tip.
