I'm not a regular but Chelby's has been around for decades and probably for good reason: decent affordable food, friendly service and comfortable\enjoyable atmosphere. Definitely a locals favorite! I've seen several raving reviews on the pizza, looks good but I went with the Houston Melt this time & it was very tasty. My JD & soda was very good and had to have another while I was playing my Keno #'s. I'll be checking out the pizza section next time! read more

The bar tenders need an attitude adjustment.. They think that they're there for themselves and not for you as a customer.. When something's wrong with an order or a drink, they take it very personal and not as mistake. Never apologizing. read more

I typically get sandwiches, which are always great, but this time got a 10 inch pizza with mushrooms and hamburger. This was the best pizza I have had in years!!! The crust was EXCELLENT!! So crispy! Do not recommend very unprofessional restaurant. Went there for lunch on May 2 2025. My server was very pleasant and professional. My issue with this establishment is why a child who could not be any older than seven years old was busting tables and collecting cash. I do not support an establishment that employs child labor. What really bothered me is that I left a tip for my server in cash and as I was leaving I saw this child go up and snatch the cash her self and stick it in her pocket. That tip was for my waiter I don't believe a child with no real need for an income is taking tips away from someone who actually needs it to survive. I am all for instilling a strong work ethic on our youth but pay this child who I assume is related to the owner out of your own pocket and not with my waiters hard earned tips. Zero stars read more

I kept seeing this place for years and finally decided to try it. I ordered the chicken parm pasta dinner and onion rings. The chicken parm was really great. It was one of the better ones I've tried in the area, however the chicken parmesan portion was on the smaller side. The pasta was also great, and so was the garlic bread. I also really liked the onion rings. I saw many other reviews mention them, and they definitely lived up to the hype. The woman at the counter was also really nice and friendly. Initially there was an issue with my order-I had received something that I didn't order. She was very apologetic and offered me a free drink which she didn't have to do. The atmosphere in there was nice. There were two rooms, one on the left side of the building with seating and then the bar on the right side. Even though I didn't end up getting a drink from the bar, the area seemed very cozy, and it seemed like they had a great selection of beers on tap and cocktails. I will definitely come back here. Chelby's serves up pizza, subs, sandwiches, pasta dinners, dinner plates (sirloin tips, lamb k bob, chicken, fish & chips), appetizers, salads, children's menu, Coke products, and a full bar menu with cheap drinks. How about martinis and cosmos for only $4.50!! The place has a front dining room with table seating & small TV, takeout counter, and the cocktail lounge in back with table seating and bar chair seating, tube TV and jukebox. My buddy and I have ordered pizza and pasta dinners for takeout from here on a few occasions. The pizza pie is decent, crispy thin crust with good toppings, sauce, & cheese. The pasta dinners ($5.75-$7.95) have soft cooked pasta topped with a sweet tomato sauce and served with cheesy garlic bread. Add a garden salad to any dinner for $2.00 more. The garden salad is okay and has the typical iceberg lettuce, tomato, cucumber, & onions with a side of dressing. The service has been good and quick on each visit. PARKING: The parking lot is very tight including the spaces very close to the road. Use caution if backing up onto busy Mammoth Road. I have never thought Chelbys was very clean, its a local dive w/a local crowd, that, having consumed enough alcohol, can tolerate a lot. But all the cheap alcohol cannot make up for a possible foodborne illness. As a local & now a "former"customer, after tonights experience, I can't recommend Chelbys for anything. My experience: I stood by the counter/pass through to the kitchen, for almost 15 minutes waiting for a pizza. I usually order & wait in my car, but, w/the heat, I decided to just hang inside. Glad I did and wish I hadn't as I watched the 2 guys in the kitchen. The one in clear view was wiping out pans. I watched as multiple pans were taken from atop the oven & each wiped down w/an extremely filthy, stained towel. Pan after pan after pan. The "white"towel was so badly soiled, all I could think of was, "I hope the heat is high enough to kill bacteria". Then I watched as this same guy took a sub out of the oven & placed it on a different dirty towel. OMG! I was so grossed out. I debated on cancelling my pizza but I had 3 teens waiting & again I thought,"hey the heat will kill any bacteria right?" So I get the pizza & get home & the 3 teens dig in. I check on them to see how the pizza is. Two are guests who have never had Chelbys but my daughter knows how their pizza usual tastes. She says,"I don't know whats wrong but it doesn't taste right." So I try it. It WAS BAD!! I called & spoke w/Carol. I told her the pizza tastes off, I can't describe it but something is wrong. Either the cheese,the hamburger,something. I brought the pizza back. Of course Carol is friendly & refunded my money which is ok but not really because I still needed to get something else for dinner at 7pm. Could I have gotten another pizza? Yes, but, not after what I heard come from the kitchen: One of the staff said, as soon as the pizza was looked at, was that it was bad. They said they had a problem w/the yeast because they lost air conditioning. Temps have been in the upper 90's, so not good for a restaurant & its food products when AC is lost. It bothers me they knew the product was inferior (thats being kind because I am sure they knew damn well that they should not have used that yeast) but they went ahead & delivered a bad product. What they "saved" in operating costs they have lost in earnings from this customer. But what is sticking in my brain & bothers me the most, was watching the use of filthy towels being used on pans, and, to place a sub on because it was too hot out of the oven to handle. I just had my Chelby's leftovers from yesterday and it reminded me to write a review. I've been there but once, but got a pretty good sausage sub for pretty cheap, getting the large for just a buck more and having the other half today. It's got a full bar, which you might not guess from the outside, and seems to attract a devoted group of day-drinkers. But the prices are cheap and the wait staff friendly and the food good. Maybe I'd go lower if I were more concerned about the decor and feel of the places, but I'm going four for the food and prices. *** I edited my review to three stars after having their pizza and giving it some more thought: the pizza was good, mind you, but not great. And I realized that I probably got exceptional service because I was with a regular, and can see how some of the neo-con townies hanging out there could temper the experience. Nice local place spent a Friday night with local friends here, between our group we had a good variety from pizza to seafood No one was disappointed. The pizza was different but yummy! I've been going to Chelby's with my family since I was a little girl. I no longer live in New Hampshire, but whenever I visit my family and we want a quick meal, Chelby's is our "go to" place. I love, love, love their pizza! And I've had two different club sandwiches there, and enjoyed those as well. Last visit, we shared a plate of nachos, which disappeared very quickly. I went to Chelby's for years and it was always great! The wife called tonight and asked what I wanted for dinner. She said she had to go to the Elliot Hospital to see her son. My immediate thought was Chelby's. Now it has been quite a few years since we moved out of Manchester. My only thought is that it probably changed hands. I have to honestly say, the pizza is horrible now! The crust is made so thick it's like bread. The cheese, I can't even describe. It's not like any other pizza cheese I have tasted, even the texture is just plain different. It's not the place it used to be, but they have their own crowd now and if they like it, all the power to them. read more

I have gone through this menu a few times and the only thing I haven't tried is the seafood. Only because I don't eat seafood. But if u do I heard on Friday nights their slammed busy because they get in all their fresh seafood that day. I love the food here and the service is always great. I have never been there but I live 50 miles away in Lee and my buddy John and his Mother Phillis go there at least once maby twice A week and he comes up on the weekend with The left over portion. This is one hidden gem. Not linen and china, but a great neighborhood, family friendly restaurant. On Fridays, it's tough to get into the dining room, and liable to be a bit noisy with all the kids and their parents. On the other side of the building, it's just adults, and a friendly bar atmosphere that serves good food (that is constantly getting better and more varied) with great prices. We're always pleased with the staff (servers, bartenders and cooks) and cleanliness. We are not nightly denizens, but go there two to perhaps four or five times a month, enjoy the food, and know it is not a "rough" crowd. We've been regulars for over ten years, and know that good food and atmosphere are just around the corner. read more

I got there at 945 sat down and ordered a steak and cheese. Waited 20 to 25 minutes. Because they decided to clean the grill early and turned it off. I get my food halfway through my first half of the sub I find their Brillo pad that they were cleaning with in my food. So I say to the waitress I really hope I didn't ingest any of this. Pizza is sucky, don't know about the subs. The pizza we picked up seemed normal until the first bite, it left a god awful taste in your mouth. It tasted like something was seriously wrong with the dough. We called them and asked if maybe something was wrong, I talked to two people who both were straight up rude while I tried to explain what was happening. They wanted me to drive back 40 minutes to exchange the pizza, I asked them to just refund the purchase but they told me that I'd have to cancel the charge through my credit card. Overall this was a bad experience and potentially harmful had my husband not picked up on the bad taste. Hopefully they can improve their pizza, but I won't be back to find out. read more

If I could give it less than one star I would! After not visiting here for a few years because I moved away from Manchester, I couldn't be any more dissatisfied! We can start with the works pizza we ordered...it was edible but lacking flavor. I added some salt and pepper and all was well. You don't expect gormet food here so that's not the real issue. The real issue is the poor service and unprofessional behavior. Ordered a pizza and pitcher of beer...my only extra request was a side of sauce. Simple right? We got 2 out of 3 and on top of it we were never checked on...I mean, the 7 other customers here must've been sooo overwhelming for one person. Ok, so I can deal with no sauce but she brings us the check after we finish. Didn't ask if we wanted another round or even come back for payment. 20 minutes later after we've had to listen to her complain about other coworkers and personal friends of the regulars, she comes over to clean a table next to us and says "oh the conversations we have here" to which I reply, "is there a one pitcher limit here?" Unbelievable that the customer has to be the one who asks and chases for service. On top of all of the bad customer service we had to watch another workers small child run all throughout the bar, behind the bar and sit on the bar stools trying to play the electronic game machine.
