    Chicken Fajitas

I've been a customer for over 30 years going nearly weekly. The food has been consistently wonderful with the Chicken Fajitas as a personal favorite. The servers are friendly and do a good job including the sweet lady who brings the setup. The walls are hand painted creating unique surroundings.

One of my all time favorite places to eat on the south side of OKC. Very respectful waiters/waitresses and the food is always fresh and full of taste. Most of all they take care of their first responders and the environment is very inviting. 10/10 would recommend every single time if you catch yourself on Western.

Huge props to Cocino De Mino for the decor!! I absolutely love the interior. The walls are painted, they've got plants all over - and all in all just very vibrant. They give you free chips and salsa, as well as tortillas to go around. Their chips are alright, but those tortillas...were the absolute most softest, tortillas you'll ever have. Nice and warm in the little container, and even with just salsa and queso, was just the perfect little treat. Service here was alright - only bump we had was that the waitress accidentally switched the plates that was meant for my boyfriend and gave it to his dad. Which was fine, accidents happen. The food was pretty good too! I had the carne asada and the meat was cooked very well. It was served next to potatoes slathered in cheese, beans, guac, sour cream, and pico de gallo. The potatoes were a slight unusual pairing to carne asada, but it wasn't an unpleasant one for sure. Everyone else at the table had some enchiladas, which according to them was pretty great as well. The rice was cooked well, seasoned wonderfully, beans too! Only thing I'd comment on would just be the salsa which was a bit too watery. And the guac was I think just mashed avocado, with nothing else. However - everything else was good, we'll definitely be coming back!

We have been eating at Cocina de Mino for many years. Our first visit in the 1980s was in their old location off N. May Avenue (which later became Ted's). Since 2001, we tend to go to the location on South Western, including today. lunch specials are available until 4 PM. And their food is always so good! Call us happy customers!

    Fajitas. Cold. No sizzle.

Going down hill.. our food came practically as soon as we ordered it. Fajitas are supposed to sizzle, aren't they?? No sizzle, room temperature . Guacamole had no chunks.... like one of those " just add water" mixes and I've had far better tortillas bought at the store. Just not very good.

It arrived as this dramatic, beautifully constructed tower of mixed seafood topped with avocado and a whole shrimp--definitely a dish that makes an entrance. The seafood seemed fresh, but I discovered that this particular style of mixed mariscos just isn't for me. Some of the seafood had a gray, translucent appearance and texture that I personally didn't enjoy. That may simply be characteristic of the preparation rather than any problem with the dish. I only tried this one item, so I don't think it would be fair to judge the kitchen more broadly based on my personal preference. What I can comment on much more definitively is the noise. It was extraordinarily loud. I eventually pulled out my phone and measured the sound level because I genuinely wanted to know whether it was as loud as it felt. I recorded levels exceeding 100 dB, with peaks around 103 dB. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. Unfortunately, I could barely hear them. I enjoy energetic restaurants and certainly don't expect dinner to take place in a library. But there's a point where "lively atmosphere" becomes something prospective customers deserve to know about before deciding where to spend an evening. This crossed that line for me. If a very high-energy, extremely loud environment is your thing, you may have a completely different experience. If you're hoping to have a conversation over dinner without shouting across the table, I'd choose accordingly. Friendly staff, impressively presented food, and a seafood dish that simply wasn't my jam. But the volume overwhelmed everything else about the experience--and at 103 dB, that's not background music. That's the main course.

Every time I've driven by it's been absolutely packed in the parking lot. The staff is incredibly friendly and brings a whole fun vibe to your table. The salsa is incredible the queso is to die for. It was very busy when we walked in but there was no wait. We were thankfully seated immediately and started off with chips and salsa. The chips were nice and crispy, but the salsa was mediocre. The tomatoes tasted canned. While I can totally get the efficiency behind using canned tomatoes for a busy restaurant, the taste is not preferred. The kids chicken quesadilla plate was a good amount of food! I just wish the quesadilla was already sliced as it was for our 3 year old. The chicken was also bland. Again, the portions were great. My son ordered the Burrito La Herencia with ground beef and this was seasoned well. Again, great portions of beans, rice & main dish. No complaints with this one! My spouse ordered the La Herencia fajita special and felt as if it was lacking. The steak pieces were minuscule and the shrimp was bland and undercooked. The pork chop was thinly sliced which was nice but VERY salty. We were wishing for more peppers and onions as well. Overall this dish was salty, but tolerable! It came with a side plate of rice, beans, pico de gallo, guac, sour cream & lettuce. Served with flour tortillas. We ordered the queso & guac while we were looking at the menu and waiting. I personally did not enjoy the queso. It was thick and had an artificial mouth feel. The guac was decent! Bland overall but I love the taste of avocado. I wish it had more lime and seasoning though since it was supposed to be Guacamole and not avocado dip. I ordered the Steak Mexicano with extra jalapeños and this was very good. Still on the salty side but I enjoy things on a SLIGHTLY saltier range. My spouse thought the steak was TOO salty. The peppers, onions, and tomatoes were nicely sautéed and seasoned. The rice here is also DELICIOUS. I hate a bland Mexican rice. The beans were good too but nothing to write home about. I do wish I was offered a side of corn tortillas. Overall this experience was okay! Not the worst but definitely not the best. The restaurant was beautifully decorated but there was a noticeable lack of music. We were sat listening to the chatter of all the different customers and kitchen noises. We did have the option of booth or table AND they have boosters seats/ high chairs upon request.
