The server was ok. Had to keep asking for refills or napkins or Togo box. The spinach and artichoke dip 10/10 the chips was fresh and lightly salted to perfection. The dip was hot and cheesy. The clam cakes 3/10. A lot of breading more of an over sized hush puppy with the flavor of clam. I don't eat calamari but my husband said it's the best he's ever had so 10/10. The marinara was weird to me. It tasted off. He loved the garlic aioli on top. The side salad 10/10. Fresh crunchy and plenty. Wish I had more cucumbers. The lobster roll was good wish the bread was softer and had to ask for garlic butter to help with texture/ taste. Salt and pepper helped as well. Didn't care for the side pickles. 7/10. Directions getting into the restaurant were ambiguous from Post Road. The sign on the corner pointed toward a building on the corner so we drove into the driveway only to find out that the building was not the restaurant. Someone directed us out of the parking lot to where the restaurant actually was. I'm sure we would've found it eventually, but as we were from out of state, it would've taken us a while. Our server was Isabel and she was delightful. She took our simple drink order since we all wanted water. We sat inside, but there was outside covered deck seating as well. Our friend had a fish sandwich, my wife, a lobster roll, and I had a cheeseburger. Everything was delicious. For dessert my wife and I split a slice of caramel cheesecake and he had Keylime pie. Both desserts were delicious. At the end of our meal we told our server that we had come here to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary with our Best Man and were VERY pleased with this dining experience. The space to the east of the restaurant overlooks the Potowomut River Shellfish Management Area. There are multiple docks filled with boats of all sorts, sizes and types. To the north and west the parking lot also hosts other essential Marine facilities since space is a premium. Our friend said that the restaurant was closed during the winter months, but there are Chelo's restaurants throughout the state of Rhode Island, including one on Reservoir Avenue in Cranston.Their website was down at the time when I checked on "yelp" but you can always call one of the other restaurants to get more information. As a native Rhode Islander, I was very impressed with the T-shirts the servers wore and was able to buy one for a reasonable price. read more

This building is really showing it's age, but that just goes to show how long Chelo's has been a part of the RI culture. I've been chomping on their roast beef sandwich since the 70's. That was back on Mineral Spring Avenue where the pie display case was right inside to door tempting you before you even sat down. Sadly that location is gone, but we have plenty of other locations to enjoy. This location has several 'tiers' of seating creating a variety of dining areas. Even though the carpets and décor have seen better days, the staff are excellent and the food as good as it ever was. We stopped by Cello's while visiting Providence, and overall it was a solid, casual spot. We ordered the appetizer platter, which was definitely the highlight -- mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, buffalo chicken tenders -- all classic comfort food and all really good. We also tried the clam cakes, and I have to say, those were really, really good. My husband got something else (I forget what), but his take was that the food was just regular -- which honestly, it is. Cello's feels like Providence's version of Applebee's or Chili's: familiar, straightforward, nothing fancy, but satisfying. I loved that they serve frozen drinks (a big win in my book). I got a frozen margarita and a shot, and both hit the spot. The service was good, the place itself is surprisingly big, and the overall vibe is relaxed. I've also ordered delivery from them before, and the food traveled well -- it was just as enjoyable at home. I give Cello's about 3.5 stars. I have been coming to this chelos since I was veryyy young. My mom used to bring me every week. I recently came for the first time in a while with my 2 kids and it is the same as ever. The restaurant is very big and the wait is never long. The servers are on top of everything and very easy to get their attention. The inside is clean and decorated nicely. This is a great place to go with your family. They have a wide variety of plates to choose from and the prices are average and affordable. There is a big parking lot, plenty of parking and a very big waiting area because this restaurant gets pretty busy. The food quality here is great, along with the portion sizes. I ordered the dinner dessert combo with baked scrod and a banana cream pie piece for dessert and it only was $20. The banana cream pie here is one of my all time favs! They give you huge dessert slices and they are all housemade desserts. Highly recommend coming here with your family or even by yourself. :) read more

Chelo's - Local Charm, But Not Worth the Trip Chelo's might be a hometown favorite for some, but my experience left a lot to be desired. I gave it a shot and tried the Cobb salad, which wasn't bad. Fresh enough and decent in portion. The chicken finger basket was solid too--crispy and well-seasoned--but the fries came out cold, which immediately took away from the meal. What stood out was the server's rapport with regulars. He remembered orders without writing anything down, which is impressive and says a lot about the relationships built here. Unfortunately, that level of attention didn't extend to my table. My sauce request was missed, and again--the cold fries didn't help. The biggest turn-off was the smell. The whole place had a musty, mildew-like odor--like an old bar where the walls have trapped years of moisture and stale air. It makes sitting and eating inside uncomfortable and gives the impression the space isn't well cared for. While I can respect the loyalty of regulars and appreciate small-town service, my visit didn't live up to the hype. With cold food, a missed order, and an unpleasant atmosphere, I honestly wouldn't recommend the visit. Save your gas and go somewhere else. read more

From the outside, it seems like Chelo's is just a sports bar. But it's much more than an Applebees or Chili's. The food is legit good with some very creative seasonal offerings. Don't get me wrong I enjoy this location, but there are some things that had to make me take some stars off. Now- I know this location is by the water and the views is amazing granted the parking lot is an absolute nightmare. It's by the marina so even though it says Chelos signs everywhere people who own boats will park there, and to navigate the parking lot is a mess gives me anxiety. You can choose to sit indoor or outdoor, which I have done both before. The outdoor is nice when it's not beaming hot outside but with the wind your stuff is for sure going to fly everywhere. The inside is a little outdated and the chairs aren't all that comfortable. I think the price points are a bit much. I get it by the water- but it's nothing special for the price points. I believe they should have more on the menu as well, it's kind of limited. Now to the food. I've been here a few times and the food while not bad it's nothing to brag about but it's good. If that makes sense, I think the price points don't match up, and while I think every server I had was a sweetheart I think some things could be adjusted here to make this location better. I feel like whether it's the parking lot, eating downstairs indoors or outdoors it's very much congested I felt like we Were always sitting on top of one another. Best roast beef sandwich! They actually ask you how you want your roast beef cooked! I love it medium rare with a side of au jus. They have excellent choices of other food on their menu. Outstanding service as well. I never had to ask for a drink refill. The restaurant itself is roomy with a very large bar and several TV's for watching your favorite sports. My Chicken Broccoli Alfredo came out without any broccoli. It was bland. My hot fudge sundae with nuts, came out without the nuts. The bar staff were nice and made good drinks. A Rhode Island classic that hasn't changed a bit! It is exactly as I remember from years ago! Chelo's has a few different dining rooms with various table styles (booth, table, hightop, bar, etc) to accommodate any party. The bartenders were more than courteous on my visit, and made sure that I was taken care of. They made very good mixed drinks, and I am sure the menu cocktails are good. The food menu is large, with options that should please any type of eater. Half price apps after 8:30pm! My group tried the calamari and the quesadillas. Neither one is something to write home about, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. Do not expect fine dining or service when you visit Chelo's. It is a family restaurant, and one of the most beloved in Rhode Island. It is worth a stop if you have an occasion that matches the environment and vibe there. read more

Employees every nice and I was sat immediately. Got the chips and salsa as a App. The salsa was a bit bland and didn't have much flavor but the chips were great . My daughter got the chicken tender plate and it was enough to feed 3 people ! The serving size was too big. We ended up taking almost of it to go. Was delicious though. We traveled all day so I tried your fall baked apple salad and it was so good and well dressed. I was recommended the clam chowder. It was delicious. I truly enjoy going to Chelo's restaurant in Warwick on Post Road, not just because it's close to the house, but the wait staff and the food preparation are both excellent, I frequent this restaurant at least four times a month, they have an appy hour every day and they have draft beer specials every day, everything on the menu is excellent whether it's poultry red meat or fish. Also, they have great salads and many other options and great dessert. I highly recommend if you're looking for a really good home-cooked meal and some specialty drink drinks this is the place to be. read more

I love Chelo's Impossible Burger, but this time I asked for no cooked onions because last time they made the bread soggy. That worked out and was delicious. The service was average. Server messed up on our drinks and then the runner forgot my salad, but otherwise good! The ambiance low-key reminds me of a Bennigan's with the bar in the middle. It tends to be an older crowd or families with kids. It's good in a pinch and the food is good, but nothing special. read more

Food at Chelo's was good. Their menu is extensive and the service was hurried but friendly. This last time I got the baked scrod with no butter and no bread crumbs to make the dish healthier. They are very good about making changes for you if you request them. I love their specials and their desserts. We usually love Chelo's , but last night was not good. My husband and I ordered fish and chips, which was the evening special. When the fish came out, it just looked greasy, the coating was doughy, and the fish was not very flavorful. The waiter was sufficient, did come to check on us, offered to refill our drink, but didn't smile once. when he asked to take the plates, he waited for us to pick them up and hand them to him. I do want to give a shining review to the hostess!! She was wonderful, pleasant, polite, and even opened the door for us as we were leaving with a " have a wonderful evening". After hearing about this chain for a while. I've decided to give them a few tries before my review and this last try really sealed it. I happened to want a lobster roll and recall it being on their menu. We arrived during appy hour where certain appetizers are half price. The manager who was helping because the waitress was busy took our orders. She fumbled with our orders and left. The waitress takes over, gets our food to us. Towards midway, she returns to tell us that the one item I ordered from the appy hour menu can't be taken out. I ordered a ton of food so there was no way I can finish a dozen of clam cakes on my own. The manager in no way told me this while I ordered. But she made it a point to not only tell the waitress to tell me, but also told me she can't give me take away containers. The manager, Nicole, is one petty person, walking by our tables several times to ensure I ate all of the food and didn't pack it. Thanks to her, I'll never step foot in any more Chelos. Good grief, think of other things in life to be worried about asides whether or not your waitors are allowing patrons to take food they paid for home. Whenever we visit family in Rhode Island we try to work in a visit to Chelo's. Chelo's is one of our family favorites and has been for many years. The entire family agrees; we love Chelo's! We usually visit their Cranston restaurant, but this time we were closer to Warwick. Let's get this straight: Chelo's is not fine dining, but it is dependable and enjoyable and we always have a terrific experience there. Their restaurants are cozy and comfortable (think a throwback to what Friday's used to be), their food is tasty and dependable, their prices are reasonable, and their staff is friendly and hardworking. In short: Chelo's is a great neighborhood joint. On this night, several of us had burgers which were cooked as requested and very tasty. They also have solid steak fries which are harder and harder to find in restaurants. My son had the Fish and Chips and enjoyed it very much. My wife had a lobster roll which was truly enormous and which she said was excellent. Our server, Marilyn, was very good! Chelo's has a rewards program that you should join if you plan to be there on a regular basis...and you should be there on a regular basis! Stopped by to get some Chowder and Cakes. Very disappointing the Chowder and cakes were absent of clams and poorly prepared. My wife had a bacon burger and it was delicious in all manners. The third member in our party ordered a seafood dish that was also disappointing. The Decor is somewhat upscale, staff not overly friendly but professional. So, traveling, hungry and a cold...not so good. Enter Chelo's!!! So, here we go, ya ready...well...tell me when....ok here I go.... YUK! My server was very nice, and anything beyond that is not her fault. I decided it was healthy(ish) food time so I ordered my favorite...blackened chicken Ceaser Salad. Simple, not very difficult, he'll, even easy to make. Yup...nope....not here! Myvsalad came, and, much to my dismay, the chicken and the rest of the salad was covered in blackening seasoning. At least, that was what it was supposed to be, but the chicken was not cooked with seasoning, it tasted like warmed over chicken with an over abundance of seasoning.
