Chemas has some real good tacos. Quality meat that is cooked just right. It would be my choice for tacos but it is in Whittier. A little to far for just tacos. I blame it on gas prices really. I noticed that you get more meat when you order to go and everything on the side. That is a good thing. I like to phone in my order at Chemas. I can just get there and pick up my order. My reviews are very honest and I believe this review in particular may create disagreement among the rest of the people who like Chema's. First, the tacos are good. They are good period. Not good in like that's bomb but good. I expected more flavor from their tacos. Pictures do no justice in flavor and I felt like Chema's tacos did not satisfy my cravings. Their meats lack flavor, maybe it's just sodium. The only item I feel deserves a lot of credit is their salsa. There salsa is fire. Other than that, it's decent. Will I come here again? Maybe. Guess I'm on a five-star rating streak! Chema's Tacos are among the best tacos I have had and quite possibly "the" best. It's a hole in the wall in every sense of the phrase. From a dingy security blue door as its entrance to a random jukebox planted in the middle of the tight space that makes up this establishment, you def wouldn't go here for the ambiance. However, take my word for it, the tacos are SOOO worth shoeing a few flies out of your face. If I gave you a momentary "ewww," it is all good because that "ewww" will turn into an immediate "MMM" once you shove one of these bad boys in your mouth. Chema's only serves tacos, which people may complain about, but I find it reassuring that when I read their sign "Best Tacos in Town," I know there is no underlying BS. There's a variety of meat choices - carne asada, chicharron, carnitas, buche - and some I never even heard of. Their meat has such a fantastic flavor, coupled with their homemade salsa and all the fixings (cilantro, onions, lime, radishes), you'll want to grub away until you resort to an "undoing of the bottom button." Chemas has bar none the best mexican tacos I've ever tasted, and I've lived in california my entire life and gone south of the border plenty of times. I've bought tacos from Chema's ever since they used to be across the street from where they are now selling tacos out of a taco truck. The last few times the Quality of there tacos has gone south. I bought 3 tacos of el pastor and what I received was more onion and cilantro than meat I'm done with Chema's it's time to go some where else.
