No one ever wants to say goodbye to their beloved fur baby but unfortunately the time comes at some…read morepoint. I heard about Arms of Aloha in passing as others recommended them on various Facebook dog groups that I'm a part of. When my dog was diagnosed with cancer, one thing that popped into my mind was that, if possible, I'd like to let her cross over at home, where she was more comfortable. This thought was even stronger after having visited the vet so many times in the last weeks of her life. I had read up on the literature available on the Arm's of Aloha website (where you can also get an estimate) as well as preregistered. You can also look at their appointments available. They advise on making an appointment at least 1-2 days in advance, especially on the weekends. The hard part is knowing ahead what day that will be. My dog took a turn for the worst one day and I went back and forth on scheduling the only/last appointment available for the next day (appts can be seen/booked online). No one wants to make that call (decision), but it's also painful to watch your beloved friend suffer. They do have a thorough cancellation policy you can read online and I decided I'd book the last appointment to secure it and I could always cancel/reschedule more than 8 hours out. In the confirmation email, there is a link to a video to watch of the Doctor describing the process so you're familiar - I'd recommend this if it is your first time through this. I guess because it was already the next day, they called me shortly after to confirm my appointment. I could barely get the words out the confirm but I never felt judged by the person on the phone. The morning of the appointment, I received an invoice in my email. They suggest taking care of it ahead of time as doing it in the moment with so many emotion is harder. I appreciated this detail and was able to get it out of the way. At our scheduled appointment time, Dr. Naun came to our house. She has a calm and peaceful energy to her. She had some further paperwork for me to sign then we started the process. It was peaceful, and of course sad, but Dr. Naun brought comfort to the situation and we're so grateful for a service like this. We chose to have our dog's ashes returned to us and about a week later, we received a beautiful urn and our paw prints. With the service, they have a chaplain who you may access to talk to if you need help. I did not use it but they do also offer at home palliative care.

Our kitty was a six week old feral kitten when we got her and it took a lot of time and attention…read moreto get her comfortable with us. She would be out of sight being under furniture most of the time, because of this we named her "Hidey", a play on the name Heidi. Over the past couple of years she was slowly getting weaker, and I knew since she was 17, she was on the downhill slope of life. When it finally came time in December of this year, I sadly made the arrangements with Kakaako Pet Hospital. I chose to have her cremated with her ashes reutrned to me and the staff at KPH patiently went through what they'd be doing and what exactly to expect with a time frame. My appointment to have her put down was the following morning but my kitty went that night instead. Heartbreaking but that made me feel better that she was able to spend her last moments at home. I took her the next morning (Tuesday) to drop her off at KPH and was able to pick her up on Friday. Her ashes actually was ready the following day but a couple of things KPH does is get a plaster paw print of your pet and a clipping of fur if you choose to so the waiting was for the paw print to fully harden. All of this from the explaining of the total process and arranging with crematorium to doing something special like the paw print and fur clipping really made a big difference for me with comfortably being able to let go. Hidey is now home and she will always live on in my memories. Thank you Kakaako Pet Hospital.

Dropped my daughters dog off today for an evaluation to see if they will let him be cared for…read morethere. First of all I liked that, it shows that they have a concern for all the dogs they take care of, not just trying to make a profit. They also required two preventive measures from the vet that we did not have or know of. They also require a breakaway collar, to make sure the dog does not run into a choking issue. The dogs are separated by big dogs and small to medium dogs. There is a lot of employees with the dogs to supervise them. The place is clean and has AC to create a good environment. The staff is friendly and the dog love the person that took him into the play area. Also, off street parking, to pick up or drop off.

OWNER IS UNRESPONSIVE!! SHE IS HARD TO GET A HOLD OF. This is a HUGE red flag considering you would be leaving your family member in the hands of someone like that. Lucky for other folks they had a great experience. But it's probably for the best I would never want to leave my dog in the hands of someone who is hard to reach. Figured maybe they could be busy. Went to the place to try a different approach try to be understanding, maybe they're busy who knows. . Owner seemed stressed like she just wasn't cut out for this kind of work. Her phone was ringing and didn't bother to pick it up. Said she'd be right with me and didn't come back. She doesn't have the professionalism I'd expect from someone I'd trust with my dog. Seems like she took more than could bite. Didn't seem organized. Didn't look too dog friendly for someone who runs a dog daycare. Mind you I tried to get a hold of her on the phone for five days. Nothing. Went into the place twice. She just doesn't seem cut out for this line of work probably just playing with daddy's money.
