This is a belated review on my part, as it took me some time to get over saying goodbye to my little old lady. I have a 21 year old cat- Mowgli who was nearing the end of our journey. Mowgli's current vet did not do in home hospice care or euthanasia. However, taking her there to a place where she dreaded going to was not something i would even consider. I therefore researched Yelp and found Aloha Nui - Dr. Alana Kapust, who also was located on the East Side where i live. I scheduled an initial exam and consult at our home. At the initial consult, Dr. K confirmed that Mowgli was nearing the end of her journey and counseled me on what to do and look for in making the ultimate decision. I monitored her and later arrived at the difficult decision and scheduled an appointment. Dr. K arrived on schedule. The process was done with care and compassion and Mowgli was able to pass in the comfort of our home and I was able to say my sad goodbye, for which I was grateful. I opted for a private cremation and a special urn just like one that i had for my wife. By the reviews, I was looking forward to having my pets treated by her as it seems like she does an amazing job. But this review is more so for my experience with trying to book an appointment. I understand that she probably runs on a very busy schedule but I think time should be set aside to follow up on those that are seeking business with her. I texted her to see when she's available as I'm seeking hospice care for my elderly dog and a dental checkup for the other. She was responsive the day I texted her till we started discussing about the location of where I'd like the service to be completed. I asked her about having the appt. in Waikīkī area as I live in the apartments, but she told me she tries not to book for locations like mine due to parking. Totally understandable, but I did mention my apartment does offer guest parking. I sent her the name of my apartment complex and after that I never heard from her again. A simple "sorry, but I still prefer not to make appointments in that area" would've been okay with me but to be completely ghosted at a time when I'm seeking the best care for my pets? This review is long overdue. I knew I would have difficulty writing this even though it's been a year and six months since Tootsie left. She was sick for a long time, and I knew that when the time came, I wanted her to be as comfortable as possible and in familiar surroundings--also, surrounded by people that she was familiar with and loved her very much. I took my time and looked at several available mobile vets, and I settled with Dr. Kapust. All my communication was via email and text message. The payment was handled in advance before Dr. Kapust came to our house. Once Dr. Kapust got to my house, she was just so lovely. She spoke to us in a pleasant, calming, and soothing voice. She explained what was going to happen step by step. She sedated Tootsie so we could spend a little time with her. Once it was over, she wrapped Tootsie up in her favorite blanket that I gave her. She had a nice setup in the back trunk of her car. It just looked like she was sleeping peacefully. Tootsie was transported back to Kaneohe to get privately cremated that same day. About a week later, I received Tootsie's ashes from Dr. Kapust. At that time, my mom could not stop talking about Dr. Kapust and her professionalism. She made the whole process less stressful for everyone, especially my mom and myself. If anyone is looking for a mobile vet, I will highly recommend Dr. Kapust. read more

Dr. K gave my dog an excellent examination and prescribed the medication that helped my dog with his arthritis. He has been jumping and playing with us every day since the day she examined him. I have been using Dr. K for 3 years and she has performed more intensive care for my dog which included oral surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. She effectively removed the tumor and he has a clean bill of health. He is 13 years old now and swims every day. Dr. K really has gotten to know my dog and he is very comfortable around her. All I can say is that I love love love this vet! She is amazing! I'm so happy that I found her! She is so good with my little fur babies. She actually cared for them like she would her own pets. She is not trying to over charge or over treat at all. Her suggestions and treatments were all given with my pets best care in mind. She actually suggested against some treatments for my senior dog (20 year old) because she didn't think they would be helpful or needed. She truly treated them with care and compassion. Unfortunately my experience with other vets here has been completely opposite to this. They have over charged, suggesting treatments and tests that my dogs did not need, and treated for profit not compassion. I would 100 percent recommend this vet for all of your pets needs. It is also amazing to have a home visit. Especially for my senior dog! She is almost blind and has a bunch of health issues. Needless to say going into a vet is way more stressful on her. Wish I could leave 10 stars for Dr. K. Our Frenchie boy,13 yrs old, took a massive turn for the worse over this past weekend. By Sunday, I was texting Dr. K desperate for someone to discuss his condition and help us make a plan to come and help us. She was busy, not surprisingly, but she rearranged her Monday and came to us in our time of need. She was kind, prompt, sweet, understanding and very good at her job. Our lovely boy passed at home, in his bed, with no stress or pain and in absolute peace. It was such a relief that we could give him this final gift. I have never left a yelp before but really wanted to share my experience with Dr. Kapust! We wanted our dog's teeth checked out because they looked infected.. we found Dr. Kapust on Yelp and messaged her through the app in the late afternoon. Within half an hour, we got a response saying she could fit us into her schedule the next day. She arrived early and was very kind and professional. My dog (who has major anxiety LOL) instantly felt comfortable with her. She set up her table & equipment and worked right in my garage! So convenient and we could check on her and ask questions during the procedure. She was very informative and explained things very thoroughly.. especially for someone who is not familiar with dental procedures for dogs. She did a very thorough job cleaning my dogs teeth! She had to do some tooth extractions but the other teeth look nice and shiny! We were impressed with her quality of work. She even cut her nails! We got antibiotics for her on the spot & she was nice enough to give us her personal number to reach her if we had any questions. I am so grateful for Dr. K. I was beyond heartbroken to have to say goodbye to my fur baby, Walter, the Boston Terrier. He recently turned 15 yrs old and his quality of living rapidly declined and my heart knew it was time for him to be free of his failing body. I was a mess and didn't know what to do. I was grateful to learn that I could have a vet come out to our home rather than going into the vet office, especially with all the hoops to jump through with COVID. I texted the vet and she got back to me with all the information. I was so unsure about what to do but didn't want my baby to be in pain so I scheduled for Dr. K to come out. She was so flexible with scheduling which I appreciated. She came out on a Saturday, arrived right on time and was so warm and compassionate. Dr. Alana Kapust (Dr. K) is so awesome with my pets, dogs, cats, and even my miniature horses. She is caring, kind, and always puts the pets and pet parents first! I must say when you have an urgent matter, you can call or text Dr. K and get help from her quickly, this is such a relief as a pet parent in urgent situations. The fact that she doesn't charge a travel fee for the Hawaii Kai area is so wonderful, and the travel fees for other areas are very small compared to the overhead most vet clinics charge. When she comes to my home my animals are calm and put at ease quickly, they are in an environment they know and feel safe so I absolutely appreciate the mobile vet care. I recently looked around for dental care and found quite a big discrepancy in the pricing and then Dr. K told me she could do the dental care as well. Her prices are so much better than others and she is a VET. Some of the more inexpensive places have vet techs do the cleaning or they are just self-proclaimed "teeth cleaners", this is so scary since there is a reason people go to vet school, so much can go wrong. Dr. K did a great job and my dog's teeth are pearly white and their breath smells good again for more doggie kisses. Her prices are fair and comparable and in some cases much lower than other local vets. You won't find a better vet, with the knowledge and skills she has at the price she charges and all the extras you get, seeing the same vet always, on call to her clients via text/cell, in the area will drop meds off, easy payment system and I love the notes she sends you after care for the pets, easy to understand and follow care guidelines. Dr. Kapust is incredible. I'm so grateful to have found her. Our pitbull, Naia, chipped her tooth and needed to have it extracted. I found Aloha Nui veterinary online and it sounded wonderful but I was worried about how expensive it would be to have her come to our house. I called around to several Vet offices and they quoted me 3x the price that Dr. Kapust was able to do it for. I can't even express how much less stressful and worrying it is to have her come to the house. We avoided all the terror of the Vet's office, and the whole procedure only took about an hour, and she was able to recover comfortably in our living room. Dr. Kapust is very gentle and knowledgeable. We were able to ask her advice about diet and our other health questions as well. Dr. K provides a much needed service to the pet community - mobile care! I was originally looking to compare anesthesia dental cleaning services by reputable vets but found her reviews and started a conversation. We had the non-anesthesia "scraping" done a few times before but heard that it could actually do more harm than good (plus, we were always doubtful when the dog went in and was out in 5-10mins). We had already initially done the blood work (to make sure anesthesia was OK, no issues) with our regular vet but paused when we saw the cost of the cleaning. Dr. K was prompt and complete in replying to my questions about the details of the dental procedure, any risks, and all possible costs involved. We agreed on a date and pre-service instructions for my pup via text. The day-of, Dr. K was a few minutes early and briefly went over what she was going to do. She then set up her table in our front driveway (we have a good-sized outside area before the gate to the street) and worked out of her trunk! Our 3.5yo 54lb male dog, who is very sweet, trusted her immediately and she had no issue sedating him. Once he was on the table, she worked quickly and diligently cleaning his teeth and even cut his nails. She also was able to chat with me the whole time, letting me know what she was doing and pointing out things to notice in his mouth. And of course, answering any questions I had. He had 100% oxygen the whole time and I got to be there stroking and soothing him as he went under and came out of his state. The whole thing took less than an hour and she left us w/post-care instructions, followed up that day by text as well as the next day to make sure everything was OK (It was!). I felt that the costs were very reasonable and less than what 3 other vet offices quoted me.
