#95-2021 Cherokee at the junction of us 69 and I44 (Oklahoma turnpike) that many people take to Dallas not wanting to pay the tolls through Tulsa to Okie City the old Big cabin travel plaza pretty much been called The woodshed for quite a few years. Still has a 24/7 restaurant 365 still one of the few places where you can smoke inside and do what you want and get served some of the waitresses grab a puff during a lull. I occasionally come in here and have a meal I forgot I had to really reviewed last time so it's got a full me menu they got their own smoked products too which are pretty good. There's a salad bar at night and a buffet on the weekends I think when there's enough staff for it. I came in wanted just to standard breakfast so I ordered some french toast and a side of bacon coffee. French toast was nicely done they bring out the powdered sugar so you can dust it yourself they have the sugar-free syrup and the bacon was really good nice thick three slices for three bucks not that. Lot of times when I'm coming through here I'm usually passing by because it's usually in the middle of my travels I'm usually not really stopping in here but this morning I decided I wanted to sit down breakfast. Food was great, however the service was non-existent. We sat here for over 5 minutes with empty drinks, never got a refill or even offered a refill. While our waitress was busy at the counter b@llsh#tting. We really enjoy being able to post good experiences, but this was not one of them. read more

So. Here's the deal. This is a truck stop diner. Nothing Indian about it. I've stopped here for years and the food has steadily declined year after year. It was at one time an awesome place to stop and eat but the big chain truckstops changed this. Now the food isn't that bad and the prices are middle of the road. The salad bar and soup are all very filling with the soups being the stellar standout. I've had a little bit of everything but tonight I had the catfish special for $8 and besides it being a greasy spoon special it was decent. Two big fillets, fries , hush puppies and slaw. The BBq chicken plate is the best deal on the menu. Service is good and remember this is Hicksville and the waitress are matter of fact. read more

The breakfast "TRUCKERS SPECIAL", was good, but the Brisket was dry and unappealing. The beans & potato salad were the only thing that saved it. The salad bar was sad, lettuce was browning and other items less than ideal. Not the restaurant I remembered, used to be much better. read more

This place really knows how to take care of their customers! Only think it was better than the food, was the service. Barbecued pork was delicious and the side salad made it a well-rounded meal. I had high hopes coming to another "non-chain" truck stop restaurant. I was quite disappointed. The best thing I had here was the chicken noodle soup off the salad bar and that was only after picking all the fatty tough chicken out of it. The salad bar was short on choices. No tomatoes, no green peppers, no olives, no hard boiled eggs. I mean those items should be standard. Plus the items that were available were dried out and discolored. I was not impressed. I give it 2 stars because the staff tries but I think they even know they are offering up sub-standard food and serve accordingly. Been here several times in the past few weeks. Food is always good and the salads are huge! Hamburger steak is awesome so is the catfish. Will definitely be back over and over, maybe even tonight! Good grief this was terrible!! We've eaten here before when it was called the Wood Shed and it was a decent place to eat. It sure isn't any good now!! I had hamburger steak, baked potato, green beans and soup and salad bar. My husband had chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes plus the green beans and soup and salad bar. The salad was fresh but all there was to add to the lettuce was broccoli and onions. No peppers, cauliflower, tomatoes etc. I had chicken noodle soup that tasted like Unseasoned water and noodles. I didn't see any chicken. Hubby had red beans rice and sausage, a dish we eat quite often at home. He said he could barely swallow the stuff. The green beans tasted like they had been stored in a metal pan for a couple days, and were very dark and wrinkled. They were inedible. My hamburger "steak" was a thin patty of plain, unseasoned ground beef. I ate it after requesting Worcestershire which I doused all over the burger. My baked Potato was done but not warm enough to melt the butter I put on it. The reason we gave the place 2 stars is that hubby's chicken fried chicken was a hand Breaded piece of real chicken and he Said that and The potatoes and gravy were very good! The service was good. I believe the waitresses know how bad the food is because they did not ask me or the person ahead of me in the checkout line if everything was ok. The food here was just "ok". You should know it is not native American food, if that is what is expected from the name and area. A group of 4 of us stopped in for lunch and some of us received good food and some of us didn't. My son ordered a hamburger steak and got it raw. As in, could make you very ill raw. I understand that mistakes (or mis-steaks in this case) happen and politely took my son's meal to the nearest waitress behind the counter and asked if we could get it cooked more. She snapped "ya" at me and stormed off. When she came to our table she asked my son "How did you want it cooked?" But not with a tone of sincere interest, but as if getting it raw was the norm and we were just being difficult. My son responded politely "medium please" and she stormed off again. The next time we saw her she was back behind the counter telling other employees, loudly enough for us to hear her, "I hate people!". We were blown away because we really were polite about the whole thing. If I were the manager I would have fired her on the spot! I would give this place a lower review if I had taken the time to talk with a manager or owner to give them a chance to make things right and they did not. However, we were on a road trip and in a hurry to get back on the road. I share this post so that fellow travelers are aware of 2 things for sure: 1) Your dream of trying fry bread will not be fulfilled here and 2) Your odds of good food and good service is about 50/50. read more

The big chicken fried steak came with mashed potatoes, white gravy, green beans, salad and a hot roll. Everything was tasteless! The chicken fried steak was dry, tough and the breading was separated from the steak. No seasoning whatsoever! The "mashed potatoes" were just a tasteless, low grade instant mashed potatoes. Dry, cold and completely void of any taste. The gravy was a good match for the potatoes. Thick, completely tasteless, barely warm, paste. The green beans looked like the lowest grade canned green beans made. Oh, and they were tasteless and cold. The hot roll was a store bought heat and serve roll that was just nuked for a few seconds in the microwave. The salad was from the salad bar where you had a choice of lettuce, grated cheese, onion, green onions and salad dressing. No tomato. Probably the best part of the meal. Overall the whole mess was cold and tasteless. It was like leftovers that had set out on a kitchen counter for several days. Not good. read more

So, I HATE complaining and it's been awhile since we've eaten here and we decided to go here after church today and let's just say, we were so disappointed! I NEVER complain but today we ordered the hot bar food which had, fried chicken, catfish, green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy. That's it! No other options. So we get our food, we ate the salad, it was ok but it wasn't fresh, you could tell it had the day old lettuce taste. We come to our catfish, fist thing I do is pull mine apart, that's just how I eat, and all you can see is black fish skin and it smelled and tasted like fish not in the good way either. The chicken was way over cooked and maybe even reheated for today? So DRY! Needless to say we couldn't eat it. We told the waitress and she only charged us both for a one time trip to the salad bar which came to $15!!!! Also the waitress wasn't that friendly and the waitress that the table behind us had, was down right rude to them! I would've left if ours had talked to us the way that lady talked to them!! SO, Not only that, as soon as we got home, 10 min away, we were both running to the bathroom!! We ordered the meatloaf special, $7.50 for meatloaf with mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, and salad bar. Diet Pepsi was $2.09 and sweet tea was $1.75. The drinks were really good. The food really tasted like hospital food. I don't hate hospital food, but I expected better, I guess. The meatloaf was more like a premade meatloaf patty.... with grill marks? Interesting. The homemade croutons were the best part of the salad. Four soups were included in the selection. They all looked good.... white beans, chicken noodle, beef vegetable, and cabbage with sausage. My husband gave high compliments on the white beans, so they must have been pretty great. The service was good indeed. Our waitress did not let our drinks get empty, and she even offered "to go" cups before we left. She was attentive and sweet. The worst thing was the flies inside. That is simply a turn off for us. I may revisit this place and order something else....world famous half pound chicken fried steak dinner for $9.99? All you can eat biscuits and gravy for $3.99? An Indian (American Indian) taco for $6.99? I'm certain I would find something to enjoy more! read more
