We visited Cherry Hibachi Grill in Lake Wylie last night and it was probably the best hibachi I've ever had. Not only was the food amazing, but the whole backside of the restaurant is a window that overlooks the lake. You just have to ignore the parking lot and road. Apparently this is a busy place, but we had reservations for our party. It didn't matter, when we arrived at 8 pm it was not terribly crowded, even for a Saturday night. Don't let the fact that it is in a strip mall fool you, this place is great! We began with Money Bag appetizers. They were fried treats with a mixture of different stuffings and served with a deliciously tangy sweet chili sauce. They looked like little presents and tasted even better. The hibachi comes with a salad and a bowl of onion soup. The salad dressing I chose was the ginger dressing and it was thick and orange, not at all watery. Very full of flavor. My friends opted for the shrimp sauce and it was creamy and delicious, but not quite as flavorful. It is much milder than most shrimp sauces I've tried. Also, we get 2 jumbo shrimps as a little appetizer as well. Mine were big, pink and juicy! Next time I'll order those for my meal. The hibachi I chose was Filet with Scallops. It is often hard to get your steaks and especially your scallops cooked properly on that grill top, but our chef did it perfectly. My steak was tender and just salty enough with the soy cooking sauce. My scallops were seared perfectly and large and plump. Alongside your proteins were rice, noodles, zucchini, onions and mushrooms. This restaurant is definitely a new favorite. I can't wait to go back! *originally posted on my personal blog. read more

**this is not based on food** As always, hate to do this but service has a lot to do with the experience of a restaurant. Called an hour and a half before closing as Yelp says they close at ten. Mentioned we have a large party and host (?) said that would be fine. Place is dirty, bathrooms flooding, toilet paper everywhere, all plates had residue on them. Courtney, our server came over and said " hi, we close in thirty minutes.." (We got there at nine. If you close at nine thirty, update your Yelp) with this annoyed look. We called prior, and were sitting for about ten minutes until she came to greet us and another five for our drinks. If she wanted to go home that bad she could've moved quicker. I was looking for a new Sushi place since my go to place stopped serving it due to Covid 19 and they did take out only. A friend of mine suggested I check out this place and so I did. I was impressed from time I walked in the door to the time the waitress took my order to getting my sushi. I can be happy to call this place my new go to place for Sushi. We sat down at 11:2 today to eat lunch on the cooking side. We ordered salads and drinks. They came and we waited and waited. Finally the cook came out. He was a nice fellow, but when he dumped the rice to cook it, there was a live roach running around in it. I really think he panicked. He scooped it out, and we were saying no no no. Since the very first time i went to the restaurant i had the best experience. I usually request my girl Kaytlyn & if she's not there i just don't go until she works. She just gets everything squared away so fast and she never has a problem with anything, She has amazing customer service skills. After reading some reviews I did not know what to expect. Mind you that this review is based on the restaurant side and not the Hibachi side. I was pleasantly surprised. Came here with my family and we all enjoyed our meal. I ordered the salt and pepper shrimp and it was surprisingly really good. The shrimp was huge and the batter was not overly thick. I had the option between white rice and fried rice and went with fried rice since there was no additional charge. Wife had the broccoli beef with brown rice and that was surprisingly good as well. Broccoli was cooked to perfection (not too soft or too hard) and it was not drenched in sauce. We also had a few sushi rolls and enjoyed those. Considering the area and places I've been to in the Rock Hill, Lake Wylie area this place is not too bad. It will probably be my go to place for Japanese cuisine. read more

Every visit, food has been great! They have regular tables, hibachi tables, outdoor seating, & a small bar. Wait staff is typically amazing! There have been a few times (out of roughly 15), where the waitress was either non attentive or not wearing a mask. For the latter, I understand everyone has their own opinion on the situation. Copious amounts of food if you are seated at a hibachi table. I've enjoyed anything I've ordered here, but I've not had their sushi.

When we got there, no one acknowledged us for several minutes at the host stand. Finally got a waitress' attention and she walks away from us without indicating or telling us to follow. When finally sat, we waited for 20 minutes without a greeting from any server or so much as a drink order or even water being brought to the table. We always go to Cherry for sushi--first of all, because we always have an amazing meal when we go there. Secondly because it's reasonably priced. Thirdly, because we always have excellent and fast service. Finally, because it is close to home and super convenient. I'm not a big fan of their hibachi grill--I just don't love the food as much as I do at other hibachi places. But it's still a fun experience. I go for their sushi and appetizers--legit sushi, like nigiri and sashimi and stuff. They give me a plateful of pieces of fresh fish and a generous pile of sushi rice and I go to town! Wow! Wife and I had dinner on Friday night and of course it was crowded but were seated fairly quick. Service was good but the food............ I ordered a Binto box w/ chicken tempura. They served me a composite 6" long stick, that was not tempura, but fried panko covered. It turned out it was composite shrimp that was also a look alike 6" long. In the end it did not matter when replaced by the waiter. It tasted the same as the shrimp. The Miso soup was weak, and the ginger salad was awful. My wife has teriyaki chicken that was very tough. This is a result of a restaurant that serves frozen meals furnished by SYSCO. Save your money and do not come here. read more

The restaurant not only called me back to make sure they had the order right but met every request and having amazing taste and presentation which can be difficult when ordering takeout. We got a custom sushi roll and they were great but the roll pieces were a little too big. Shrimp tempura that with rice and salad. The rice (which we really didn't want) was really good. The tempura was crunchy and fresh. Crab Rangoon - best in the area. Trust me. If you've given up on Good Takeout in the area give Cherry a try. I'm super picky and everyone was satisfied. Made an appointment for 6pm on a Sunday night. Arrived and was seated immediately. Order some Crab Rangoons and 5 sushi rolls. App came out super fast and was delicious! Rolls followed promptly and were quickly devoured! The Hot Kiss and Beast were our favorites of the 5. Volcano is a bit of a mouthful and messy. Still good though. This was our first time ordering from cherry in lake Wylie. We ordered the spicy kani salad, the vegetable tempura, the pink lady roll, shrimp fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken. Everything was really good and fresh. It was takeout and when we got home, everything was still crispy and delicious. The chicken was white meat and tender. The fried rice was loaded with shrimp.
