I've always had great food and good experiences when ordering from Hibachi Express. It is an express restaurant so you have to go in with those expectations. They also give you a lot of food but the price point has really increased over the last few years to an almost ridiculous extent. Yummy food at a fair price but the fried rice doesn't have egg or any peas or carrots in it. It's just soy sauce and rice. I love the chicken here and the sauce is a little different that most places. It's more of a syrup consistency but still good nonetheless. I've recently been getting the bento box and love it. The salad doesn't have any dressing but it's a good break from the hibachi to clean your pallet. The dumplings are super crispy and yummy as well. It would be nice if they added California rolls to their bento boxes like other hibachi places I've been to. I love the mixed vegetables as well, mainly the zucchini. I enjoy getting my food from here. I mainly just get it to go. I never spend more than $15 even when I an extra side. Edit: seems they added way too much onion to my mixed vegetable. so much so that I thought I had ordered zucchini and onion (which they do sell) but the receipt says mixed vegetables and there were a few pieces of broccoli and carrot in there. sadly had to take one star away for that. it was like they used a whole half of an onion for my side order of mixed vegetables. I don't even like onions that much. :( They happily took my to go order to be picked up at 8:50pm when they close at 9:30. When we arrived to pick the to go order up there were still a good amount of people inside like a paramedics car was parked in front and the workers were eating there. The noodles are a dollar extra to substitute for the salad. They remind me of spaghetti noodles cooked in hibachi style possibly to cut the costs but it was still good. I enjoyed the sushi. I ordered the king role for six dollars and miso soup. However, the soup was so scalding hot that it burned my tongue for a couple of days. The sushi tasted great, but the rice was not sticking together so it was hard to consume. My husband ordered a chicken and rice dish and he was not pleased at all. Thought maybe it was the cut of the meat but I've selected a different cut the last time I was there and it was still tough. I love this hibachi place! The food is so amazing, and doesn't make my stomach hurt after- like hibachi food normally does. I have never been disappointed. However, the only issue I have is the drink machine. I got water and it tasted a little weird.. and sometimes the soda is carbonated weirdly, but the food is so good. Recommend strongly. read more

Hibachi Express is for people who don't have access to the internet and don't live in Rock Hill. The fried rice was barely tinged brown from the smallest amount of soy sauce. There was no egg in the fried rice, butter from what I could tell or anything for that matter. The steak was plain with no seasoning and tough. The chicken was hard with a sauce that was more like syrup. The shrimp sauce was bland with no flavor, almost white actually. The carrots were hard and undercooked. The price was the only good thing about the meal I consumed. A 12 year old with YouTube could make better hibachi. read more

The food is bland, lightly seasoned, and meat portions are small. Was told to try this place out over their local competition "Ichiro" but after this visit will definitely be sticking with Ichiro. We have been ordering from hibachi express for quite some time and the food is pretty good for an express take out restaurant. However, tonight was our last visit. The name is very misleading.....the service is extremely slow. We called in our order at 9pm and arrived at 9:25pm. We watched every arriving customer, order and receive their food before ours. They acknowledged us sitting there so we knew we hadn't been forgotten, but found ourselves as the last guests still waiting. We finally got our food after 10pm. I feel that I am typically very understanding of being short staffed or busy, but I don't have the time to waste watching 7+ people order and get their food before me. My disappointment has been growing for awhile as they are always short staffed, but not having the customer's food prepared in any type of order was the last straw for us. read more

The food quality has declined over the years. The chicken and beef taste cheaper and the crab Rangoon tastes like imitation crab cream cheese. I would have given it 5 stars a few years ago, but I think food quality has significantly declined so much that I don't visit that often anymore.
