From the moment I walked in to the moment I left, I couldn't believe the level of customer service I received. I was looking for a hotel at the very last minute because I was traveling from San Francisco to Long Beach for the weekend and needed a room for the night. The cost wasn't cheap, but it also wasn't any more expensive than the other hotels or even the Airbnbs I had looked at. When I arrived, Minne greeted me and was so kind as to allow me to check in early and give me a room on the first floor. She provided all the information I needed and made me feel very welcome. When I got to my room, I realized that the first-floor rooms faced the street and had windows that looked out. As a solo female traveler, I was a little nervous and was actually planning to go back to the front desk to request a room change. Then I ran into one of the housekeepers, whose name I unfortunately forgot. She was so kind and reassuring and let me know that it was a very safe neighborhood and that I had nothing to worry about. Because of her kindness, I kept the room and simply made sure to close the blinds. The room ended up being wonderful. The bed was super comfortable, the room temperature was easy to adjust, there were plenty of towels, and anytime I needed anything, the housekeeping staff was friendly and ready to help. The next day, I asked for a late checkout, and Sole had no problem accommodating my request. In fact, she gave me even more time than I thought to ask for, which was exactly what I needed that day. When I checked out, I saw both of them on my way out and couldn't stop raving about how great my stay had been. I didn't have a rental car, but parking was only $20 a night, which felt unbelievably affordable compared to other places. I almost wished I had rented a car because it would have been cheaper than all the money I spent on Ubers and Lyfts during my trip! A few other things worth mentioning: the hotel is very close to the Long Beach Exchange, which has a variety of restaurants, TVs for watching the World Cup games, and is within walking distance of Whole Foods, Ulta, TJ Maxx, ice cream shops, and so many food options. I would give this location and service 10 out of 10 stars if I could, and will absolutely stay here again on any future trip to Long Beach, hopefully for a little longer next time. Thank you, Minne, Sole, and the housekeeping staff for making my stay so exceptional.

They didn't give us any hand soap in the room--just a single face wipe. I'm glad the gel in the…read moreshower was bolted down, or I fear they wouldn't have put any toiletries in there at all. Speaking of the shower, the door snaps so hard it sounds like it's breaking, and it wasn't sealed properly, so water spilled out everywhere. They also never came to check or service the room, with no indication of how often housekeeping actually comes. On top of that, the elevator shakes you when you get off. I lost my balance multiple times; as I was stepping off, it literally jolted up and down. We stayed here for Vans Warped Tour, and everything was paid for in advance minus incidentals--the front desk clerk even confirmed this right off the bat when we checked in. Then we checked out and found they charged us an additional $600 for our stay. We showed our invoice to the guy at the desk, and he said he couldn't do anything and that we had to wait for a manager. I was like, "Dude, you guys partnered with Vans, it's a Sunday--can't you call someone?" He flat-out refused and just handed us a business card for the "manager." I called, but it went straight to an automated system. I called corporate next, and they insisted they had no reservation for us at all. How did we even check in then? It made zero sense. We called the Vans vendor directly. Thankfully they answered, and they were surprised we were charged since they had already provided all our payment info to the hotel. The vendor reversed the charge on their end, but because processing doesn't clear the same day, we were left out $600. We begged the hotel staff to do something because that was our entire budget for food, beverages, and fueling to go back home that night. The guy did not care at all. He just said, "Yeah, nothing I can do, wait until the manager comes." (Apparently managers only show up at 10:00 AM). If anyone else booked through the Vans Warped Tour vendor and got charged, call the vendor directly because the hotel will NOT work with you--EVEN if you show them receipts and proof of purchase. We took the shuttle bus to the event and couldn't even enjoy it because we had to constantly stress about keeping enough money just to get back home, surviving on the few funds we had left in the sweltering heat. Shout out to the event vendors who were handing out Oreo Cakesters and water bottles! The only reason I'm not giving this place a 1-star review is because the bed was decent, it was surprisingly quiet despite being right next to the airport, and they allowed us to leave our car parked there until midnight since we couldn't afford to pay for parking anywhere else after the charge.

The front desk personnel was very nice and attentive at check in. It was a lil busy late night but she Breezed thru the line real quick. Parking was a lil tough at night and we were unaware of all the access around the building with a key card. The room was clean and it was a mini suite. We slept really good and I like that they had this dos and fonts near the elevator and on the front desk counter(pic posted). The breakfast seemed a bit confusing but I'm glad we went to the right area cause the homewood side had the better options and selection for breakfast. We had real silverware and plates and bowls. Not your ordinary paper and plastic like the Hampton side. And the decor in the homewood area was nice and clean too. We will choose to stay here again. It's a full service hotel and the pool looked refreshing and there was bbq grills in that area too. For u dog owners there is a small area with a cute lil fire hydrant for them to do their business. Fitness room was big and they also had working ice machines Lobby coffee and tea was available And they also had juices in the morning.

We were moved to another room down the hall, where we encountered numerous bugs, mainly ants, all over the bathroom sink. The room also reeked so strongly of bug spray that I actually became sick after being in there for about 15 minutes while we tried to figure out what to do. At that point, we were exhausted and had already changed rooms once. The staff tried one more room directly below. Although we did not see any visible bugs in that room, it also smelled overwhelmingly of bug spray. We ultimately decided there was no way we could stay at this hotel and left at 1:15 AM . To make matters worse, there were also roaches around the ice machine on the third floor. The gentleman working at the front desk was extremely friendly, apologetic, and helpful. None of this was his fault, and I genuinely appreciated how kind he was during such a frustrating situation. What makes me even more upset is the complete lack of response from management. I called the following day and neither the supervisor nor the office manager, Vanessa, returned my call. While status should not matter because no guest should ever encounter conditions like these, we are Diamond members and stay at Hilton properties frequently. We have never experienced anything remotely like this at a Homewood Suites. Finding an unsecured room, hair all over the bed, ants, roaches, and rooms saturated with bug spray is completely unacceptable. The lack of follow up from management only made an already terrible experience even worse.

Driving from the bay to Southern California was a whole trip in itself with two kids and the last thing we wanted to do was to rush the moment we got in the car and into the hotel. That being said, we decided to stay two nights prior to embarkation day. We wanted to walk in, get settled after the 7 (=/-) hour drive and relax. The hotel had everything we needed - a full kitchen, a clean and perfectly running shower, clean and comfortable beds and a wonderful view. The proximity of the hotel to the port was perfect. All eight of us were able to get our belongings together and not stress on getting parking. The continental breakfast was great as well. The staff was beyond amazing and during one of our nights we were able to watch the UFC fight downstairs in the lobby with a crew of construction workers. One of the staff attendants gave my girls crayons and coloring paper. She sat down and helped them with their art and it was honestly precious.

We had two…read morerooms on this trip that were conjoined for parents (one room) & children (conjoined room). While my wife and I went on an outing on Saturday we received an unfortunate barrage of texts and calls from my 16-year-old who was still in our room while we were gone. From about noon to about 12:45 my child was telling us that hotel housekeeping kept harassing her to open the door and let them clean the room even though she repeatedly told them that we do not need the rooms clean. We give our children explicit instructions not to let anyone in the rooms while we are gone and not to open the door for anyone other than us. Marriot cleaning staff refused to take no for an answer. They continued to bother my daughter for 30-45 minutes speaking through the security lock and knocking on the door. This did not end until one housekeeping person knocked on the conjoined room door (parents) which was also security locked. My daughter told them the same thing. They then stated that they spoke with my daughter's mother and said she was allowed into clean. My wife promptly showed me this text message. It was a blatant lie by the housekeeping staff!! My daughter opened the door and allowed them to clean the room based off that misinformation. I cannot think of the words to illustrate how unsettling this is for any parent. I called the hotel immediately and the first number I dialed automated sent me a text to call the hotel front desk 562-425-5210. I described the event to the 1st front desk representative. HOWEVER, in the meantime, Long Beach Marriott's front desk manager picked up, and he had the exact opposite level of concern that his direct report had. He repeatedly blamed us for not putting the do not disturb sign on the door. This is only partly valid. A single knock on the door and the occupant stating come back later is the fault of occupant because we did not put the DND sign on the door BUT 30 - 45 minutes of harassing a minor is never acceptable unless there is an emergency!!!! Even worse, making up a lie that a pervert would make up to enter a teenager's room like "I spoke to your mom, and she said I could come in" is even more not acceptable and grossly disturbing at minimum!!!! I notified the police and reported it with them. It seems like both the first front desk woman and the officer I spoke with understood the graveness of this situation, but the manager gentlemen could not grasp how serious this was. He stated that the cleaning crew was just doing their job and that this was my fault. Again, harassing minors and making up lies should NOT be a part of a cleaning crews job description. Is that how you train your housekeeping crew? I have several experiences at hotels that when a housekeeping knocks on the door, I will say something like "please come back later" or "no need for cleaning today" and they leave me alone whether I have a sign on the door or not. I have never been harassed at any facility EVER until this visit. I asked the front desk manager to try to view the situation from a parents' perspective and he refused. He continued to place blame on me. This is not right!

A pleasant surprise!…read more A friend and I booked this hotel for the nearby Day Trip Festival for a single night. It is just a quick 10-15 minute drive to the Queen Mary Waterfront where the festival was held. The outside of this hotel looks a bit sketchy to be quite frank. It is a motel-style hotel, with outside-facing doors and only two floors. Don't let this scare you though. The interior was actually very nice and left me impressed. When we went to check in, we noticed a good amount of parking spots available at the front. There was also a cute little seating area surrounded by bamboo. The lobby was super clean and bright. There is a lot of seating available and a nice view of the pool. The pool is quite large and has some lounge area around it too. The workers at the front desk were super friendly. Check-in was a breeze and very quick. We retrieved our parking slip and left it in the car for overnight parking. We walked up the stairs and were very surprised when we got to our room. The room was huge. There was a ton of walking space around the bed which was fantastic. I was also not expecting there to be a balcony so that was a fun touch. There wasn't any furniture on the balcony but it was nice to stand on and get some fresh air. The decor and bedding was super cute. I'm glad there was a little mini fridge available too. The bathroom was also very spacious with a large shower. I liked the little stool in there and the attention to detail they paid with folding the towels and tissues. The AC blasted super cold which was great for the SoCal heat. Some of the amenities were dated like the AC unit itself and the TV, but is super understandable considering the type of hotel it is. The next morning, we called and were granted a courtesy late check-out! However, at 11:00am sharp, housekeeping knocked on the door to clean. We had to let them know that we had a late check-out. It was not a big deal but just a little annoying because we were expecting to sleep in a little longer. Overall, this was a very satisfying stay. The first impression was a little rough but it ended up being a great stay that exceeded my expectations.

I didn't necessarily except my food to be refunded by I absolutely wanted my parking fee back. You guys are a huge corporation, do better. I really want to give this place more than 3 stars, and in reality it probably deserves only 2. But I had a few great customer service interactions that won me over, even in a not so accommodating situation. Upon a busy check in right about 5:00 PM on a Saturday in the summer time, we were notified that the AC in the hotel is out. (Side note it had been out since Tuesday and no one notified us until now) We were traveling with our bulldog so this was a huge deal and I immediately asked to be placed at another Hilton property. Art at the front desk was very kind and accommodating. He offered a room with a window that opens as well as a patio, so there would be a constant airflow. He also said if we weren't happy we could come back down for a full refund. Art in general was beyond gracious. We chose to stay, as the sun was going down, and when you're close to water it gets pretty cool even in the hottest months. We had some drinks at the bar and tried to make the best of it. The bartender was also kind and working hard in the heat! All was well considering the circumstances. Until midnight when all of the building alarms started going off every few minutes. We were only staying one night for a relaxing day away with our dog on the beach, and because of this property we definitely did not receive that. I've had to open a case for a refund, which seems crazy to me. As an honors member I definitely thought it would be offered without hesitation, and possibly even more compensation. Unfortunately this was not the situation. For a property with a great location, it needs a deep cleaning and a few updates immediately. With that, I'd consider returning.
