I came here with my friends two weeks ago, and we LOVED our experience. Another reason I love this place is because it's not just some mediocre chain with locations everywhere; instead, it's a small local chain with only two locations, one in Barlett and one in Algonquin. Walking in, you see an ice cream counter with plenty of different ice cream flavors. They allow you to sample some of the flavors, and my friends did that, but once I saw the "S'more to Love" flavor of ice cream, I just had to order it. Like any other ice cream shoppe, this one offers different types of cones. They have waffle, sugar, and dipped cones, as well as bowls and waffle bowls. There are plenty of toppings you can choose from, too! For those who are not fans of traditional ice cream, the shoppe has plenty of other menu options: shakes, malts, coffee, popcorn, sundaes, chillers, cotton candy, cannolis, tiramisu, edible cookie dough, and rootbeer floats. Only some ice cream places offer those things, so I like that this place has unique options. When we arrived, they were closing in about 30 minutes; however, the two teenage workers didn't seem to mind and allowed us to take our time with choosing our flavors. They also didn't kick us out as the time got closer to closing time, but we felt bad and left before that anyway. Price-wise, it's comparable to other places: $3.99 for a kids' scoop, $4.99 for one scoop, $6.49 for two scoops, and $7.99 for three scoops. A plain waffle bowl or cone is $1 extra, specialty waffle cones that are dipped and have peanuts are $1.75 extra, and chocolate-dipped waffle cones are $1.50 extra. Cake cones are not extra. Overall, I would definitely come back here, and my friends agreed that they would, too. Madison, Wisconsin's very own Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream, available in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Our family really loved Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream while living near Madison, WI., so we were delighted when we realized this nearby ice cream shop exclusively serves Chocolate Shoppe, and at reasonable prices. It is kinda hidden in a bigger strip mall, near the Ace hardware store. Plenty of parking. There are a few metal tables and chairs on the outside, just enough for a quick sitdown on a hot, humid day, while the ice cream melts. The ice cream is very thick, kept very cold, so it took a bit for the server to get out the two scooper that we ordered. Per their name, they do chocolate based ice cream very well here, and the one to get is Zanzibar ("All-natural and award-winning chocolate ice cream made with three kinds of cocoa for a rich, fudge brownie taste"). It's a must-have for chocolate lovers (even likers). We ended up getting two flavors based on that: Zoreo (add oreos) and Brownie Cascade. ($5.50 for two scoops). They sell bakery goods as well, though we've never gone that far in their menu (always gets stopped cold when we see the ice cream). read more

It's good and I am so grateful for it's existence being local, but I would not travel 15 miles to come here. Sometimes the ice cream has freezer burn and often it is understaffed at peak times some management forecasting or staffing planning would help. Cherry On Top's flavors are not only creatively named, but some of these flavor combos I have never seen before. My absolute favorite (so far, MUST TRY THEM ALL!) is the "This $&@! Just Got Serious". Salted caramel with fudge and cashews... it's just too delicious! Another worth mentioning: Exhausted Parent-Bourbon-spiked espresso ice cream with chocolate chunks. They give generous scoops and priced reasonably for this high quality ice cream. There is a flavor to suit everyone, and of course you will want to try out many if not all of the flavors. Just to name a few; banana cream pie, Zanzibar chocolate, Door County cherry, mint avalanche, peanut butter cup, birthday cake, coconut, brownie cascade , Zoreo and even one called, "this shit just got serious." It said 'open', so I knew I needed to check it out next time I needed something sweet. Fast forward to COVID time and I knew I needed to support the small businesses in Bartlett. I am so glad I went. There are so many flavors to choose from. I spent too much time just trying to decide. The employee was super patient and answered all of my questions. Each pint was only 5 dollars as long as you ordered 2 or more. We got 4 flavors and took them home to enjoy. They were amazingly delicious. They even had 3 vegan flavors if that is your thing. I love this addition to our town. I had this brand of ice cream when I went to school in Wisconsin several years ago, and loved it then. Come to find out a couple years later, Cherry on Top brings it back into my life again! My ultimate favorite flavor is espresso Oreo, I check often to see if this flavor is around. I mean can you honestly name a better flavor combo?! Seriously so good. Another good flavor is Mackinac island fudge! Service is always friendly and great! The line is kinda wonky as you try to check out the flavors along the counter.. just not as efficient as it could be maybe?
