I would like to let everyone know how Chesaco RV in Joppa runs their business. About a month ago, I went to purchase an RV. I worked with Regina - a lovely woman. She is very helpful and kind. I asked to see if I could put the RV on credit. Regina then asked if I would put any cash down. I said, "I supposed I could put $2000 down". She requested my Credit Card (as that is what I said I would use). I asked, "do you not see if I am approved before you run my CC?" "No, I am sorry. This is not how they do it. We run your credit card and then see if you are approved." Because I know I will be approved (based on my 753 credit score), I accepted it and handed over my cc. When I looked at my credit card online, I noticed $2060 was charged. I asked what the $60 was for, Regina did not know. I said, "I suppose it might be a 3% fee that credit cards are now charging for using it" and I accepted it, no problem (again - thinking I would be approved). Apparently, something happened to which I was not approved with my own bank (I will deal with later and uses Equifax) at 5.74%, but approved (verbally) with another bank at 11.99%. I refused those terms and conditions, as I am not paying double interest. I requested to cancel the transaction and to refund my $2060. They refunded my $2000, but not my $60. Now, I have been dealing with my dad (passed on 1/15) down in Tennessee and have not had a chance until today to address this $60. I called and explained exactly how I have written for you and would like my $60 back. He explained that he could not refund the $60 because it is the credit card issue and not their responsibility. ::side note:: I have owned a business and remember when a transaction is reimbursed, my company would also be reimbursed the fee and it is at the discretion of the company to reimburse I asked, "is this how you do business?" "No, this is how the credit card does business" "Not that part, I am speaking on first, you don't tell your customers there is a 3% fee added on to any credit card charge..." "It is all over the building" ::side note:: I can honestly say, I do not know. But, I am very observant in reading signs, but I may have missed it. Okay, I will give you that one. Especially, if I was approved, no big deal. "And what about the part where instead of making sure your client is approved, you just charge their card and then say, 'oh well, your out $$$ even though you weren't approved" "Yes, that is how we do business. We do take your money before we see if you are approved because if someone comes in and puts money down on the same item, it becomes their possession" ::side note:: Is he serious? I do not have facts to back it up, but does he really think I believe that they are selling RVs hand over fist?!? So, I am making a public post everywhere and everywhere to BEWARE!!! read more

This is absolutely the single worst customer service experience of my adult life and I am 52 years old. I purchased a private sale RV and I needed an inspection on the functional systems of the RV and its overall safety. They only did about 80% of what should have been inspected, gave me excuses for the remaining 20% of the unfinished work... then didn't want to give me my unit on a Saturday and they literally gave no assistance in any conceivable way. A word to the wise... go to literally ANY OTHER dealership... this place has no clue what customer service is. If I had written this review a month ago Chesaco would have gotten 4 stars. Their communication is spotty and not optimal. Now what happened between then and now is what is really sad. First, I do UNDERSTAND the contract that was signed. I do accept that I did sign the contract. 1. In the event of a break-in or theft on their property, while they are fixing your RV, you are responsible. I truly get that. I accept that is the rule. 2. They had a theft (catalytic converters) from several RVs on their lot including mine. things like that are not controllable. All was ok, I was going to drop them to 3 stars at that point. But their communication which was the reason they were a four-star rating got worse. Given that I would like to take away one more star and drop them to 2 stars. The final straw? I went to pick up my RV. They said "oh we gave you the parts at cost, because of what happened to reduce your deductible. I was fine until that was said. I stood there wondering if they knew just how heartless that sounded. So based on that I am giving them a 1-star review. Poor communication, poor security, and just poor. Wish I could give less than one star! Visited on 2/28/2022 I went to get warranty service (ladder failed on first shoes) on my travel trailer this week. They said you didn't buy here so it will take us four to six months to get you in for service. I also told them that I wanted to buy an additional solar panel and have it installed as well. Quoted about $350 for the panel and $175 per hour labor which seemed fair. But then the problem is that I didn't buy the trailer and they wouldn't schedule me for anything sooner than 4 to 6 months. When I said" what you are really telling me is that you don't want my business and go somewhere else". Then the manager got upset stating we didn't say that; but then I restated that if you will not schedule me into the next service opening because I didn't buy the trailer here then that is exactly what you are telling me! The bottom line is that if you didn't buy your trailer here, do not expect to get any timely service from Chesaco RV in Joppa. Coming here will be a waste of your time and gas! read more

After attempting to overcharge me for a weight distribution system, then pressuring me into buying it because they want to "make sure I'm safe", I've come to realize that it can actually void the warranty and do damage to my tow vehicle, they are now telling me that they cannot take it back, nor are they attempting to make it right by getting me a proper hitch. Our experience would be a long story... but has far as service on a brand new Rv.., only used 2 times, they had it for 4 mths, only to find out that 1/2 of the work wasn't done. I would advice having an outside inspector inspect whatever you purchase, as our experience has been a nightmare. As our Rv sits at another dealership for the same repairs, not knowing if it's going back to the Mfg, Forest River, our reservations for upcoming vacationing have to be canceled. TLDR; first time travel trailer buyers bought a used rv full of dirty tank water that was not safety inspected and they let us leave the lot in it, expected us to tow it back over a week later after purchasing for an undisclosed amount of time so they could fix their mistakes all while not informing us of any time line. ------------------------------ Maybe it's the optimism or naivety I had walking into this place but damn it's been so stressful. don't expect to have a smooth experience. If you have a month or so to spare and wait then go ahead I suppose. We purchased a used travel trailer, put our money down and signed. The TT we bought would be transported from PA, detailed, and inspected in 3 to 7 days. I did lots of research for the time being. 8-9 days later we got a call that our TT was ready and we go pick it up, spent another 5 or so hours there while they finished installing the breaks to our tow vehicle and more maintenance the TT needed. We buy some extra accessories we need and head out with our new TT eager to work on fixing up the interior. We kept it for about a week and disassembled the interior, started to paint cabinets, put up wallpaper. We discover it's not very clean, there's water left in the tank, running in the toilet.. I think it's no biggie. We are flexible and understanding people. we get a unexpected call from Chesaco that they "never finalized the safety inspection". Of course we are concerned because we could have already been traveling with it, out of state, no where near them. The hard tags are already on there and it's insured. How did they forget the safety inspection and let us leave plus have it for a week? They ask us to tow it back in. Which I'm reluctant to do at this point seeing as how we aren't even sure if it should be on the road. We ask if they can come get it. They end up calling us back and let us know they can arrange to tow it themselves back to get it inspected and the gentleman on the phone says this inspection will only take an about an hour. So we arrange for them to pick up our TT on Saturday (the next day) in the A.M, finish the safety inspection, and then we could FINALLY finish our remodel and get to packing for our move in 2 weeks. My husband took off of work as well so we could finish up this project. Fast forward 3 hours that day and we don't hear from them at all. My husband calls back and our salesman says the camper won't be ready until Monday because they don't do inspections on weekends. News to us. I understand they're busy and just trying to do their jobs and get people going, but these details they're missing really end up costing the customer. We've missed work, spent days waiting around, and don't understand what our timeline should be looking like because they don't bother to keep us informed on what is happening. We are moving in 2 weeks! I've never left a negative review anywhere in my life but I'm feeling stressed and don't wish this inconvenience on anyone else. Had I known the process would be so unorganized, I would have purchased elsewhere... or sooner to have the extra month of time to wait around for them. It really feels terrible to know that we're paying thousands of dollars just to have the company toss your situation to the back burner. Went there (Joppa Location)to look at a used travel trailer. I realized that the weight was too much for my vehicle and was shown some new models. I really liked a left over 2019 Keystone Premier and told sales rep that I would like to bring my wife back on Saturday. Scheduled an appointment for 11am on Saturday and we drove back down there (40 minute drive one way). Looked at unit and decided to move forward with purchase. Sat there for 30 minutes and sales rep comes back and told me it was SOLD the day before. When I question, What am I supposed to do? He tells me they have other more expensive ones there. I also questioned, Why were we not notified before we drove down there? His response was, I don't know. First of all, the salesman knew very little about the trailer. Twice he had to go in and get answers to our questions. He didn't bring the correct keys to the storage area and gave us the impression that it was not convenient to get them. Secondly, after he told us that the unit was sold, there was no compassion towards us. You would have thought that the Sales Manager would have come over and talked to us. Nope! We just walked out and that was the end of it. There are too many RV dealers out there to deal with the unprofessional business dealings of Chesaco. Even if I wouldn't have bought from them for more positive reasons, I probably would have used their parts and service. Not now! read more

We bought a brand new Aspen Trail 1950bh trailer from these people in January 2021. Not only did it have a one-year warranty as a new trailer, we purchased from these people an additional 7 year warranty... God help us. First of all, good luck getting the Service Department on the phone. Or getting them to call back. Or having the same manager still employed to speak to twice. With any new trailer, there are going to be some warranty issues. No problem. We lived with some inconveniences through the camping season. In July, I made an appointment to bring it in for warranty work in November. In November, they said they couldn't fit us in - I made the appointment FOUR MONTHS IN ADVANCE because I knew what a loose cannon the service department was and now they can't honor that appointment. Finally, they let us bring it in DAYS before the one-year warranty runs out - promising that as long as they submit the work in time, Aspen Trail will "work with them" on the dates. The work doesn't have to be done, just submitted. I'll believe that when I see it. Now, it's the end of March and THEY HAVE YET TO EVEN LOOK AT THE TRAILER OR SUBMIT ANY PAPERWORK TO THE MANUFACTURER. It's just been sitting on their property for two months. So is Aspen Trail going to work with them now? We were clear they had to get the work order in before the warranty deadline. They haven't done that. So, NOW, Spring Break is coming up in three weeks. We have to make a two-hour round trip drive - to pick up our trailer UN TOUCHED - to go camping in April - then take it back - at the rate they are going, will it be done by the next trip in June? I'll believe that when I see it. So we will have it the entire summer again, taking it back in winter of 2022 and at that point, we will be at TWO YEARS without them doing warranty work within the first year period. Do you think Aspen Trail is going to work with THAT? Of course not. Not to mention the hassle and inconvenience for us - hours of calling, making appointments, dropping off and picking up, work NEVER getting done...they keep saying "pandemic supply chain issues" - well it can't be a supply chain issue if you haven't ordered the parts! That's ridiculous. They've already run out the first warranty clock on us and at the rate they are going, they might just manage to run out the whole 7 years. Unfortunately, they are the ONLY warranty provider in the state of Maryland for this manufacturer. I would never purchase from them again - and as first time owners, I would counsel someone to check their warranty provider options before purchasing from here - or anywhere - I can't believe we are married to these people for the next 7 years. I may need an attorney before it is over. read more

Their service is fair, if that. We have had a back and forth with things ever since we bought our motorhome, a $145,000 motorhome at that. From the purchase, which felt like pulling fingernails to get salesman to help us, to a recent emergency today, in which my husband made the big rookie mistake of starting to pull out of our campsite with our awning out, and quite honestly, they could've cared less. We called them desperate with a name of roadside assistance or something and they just came right out and said they couldn't help us. They fixed something in our kitchen sink where the whole sink was falling down around the edges, and when we went to pick it up, there was a huge gouge in our countertop which undoubtedly happened from someone dropping the sink and again, they are doing nothing about it. Not to mentioned, when they used the silicone around the sink, they put the inserts in WHICH GLUED RHE INSEET TO THE SINK. THESE PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS!!!! If I would've purchased a car for this much money, my salesman would've been all over me, making sure that things were right We bought our first motorhome at Bay RV ( now Meyers )across the street, and we were always treated like family. We only went to Chesaco because we wanted a motorhome and Meyers did not have any Class A's at the time. This has been such a disappointment and I would never recommend anyone to go to Chesaco. After speaking to the personal tech person for help with our awning, we found that he personally had to go to court against Chesaco's regarding their shady ways. No stars again! We went yesterday to check on the status of our camper they've had in service for repair (2 things) since 1 Apr. The female in the front of the store was nice and apologetic for her service manager, and promised us she would have him call tomorrow. We have yet to hear from him, he repeatedly never returns calls, not my problem they have one service technician. That speaks volumes about this company! We are fixing to pick up camper without the repairs they've ruined our camping season! I don't recommend going here for sales or service because you will be disappointed! read more

Guy that answered the phone initially sounded like he was having a really rough day and was irritated that I was calling and wanted to speak to someone in the Service Department. He transferred me and no one ever picked up after ten minutes. Waited an hour and tried again. Same thing happened. Went to website and used the 'Contact Me' form asking for someone in Service Department to call me back. Never happened. So tried the email route (info@chesacorv.com). Sent email yesterday before noon. Still no response. If they are short staffed and only service RVs they sell, might be wise not to even buy an RV from this outfit as getting service simply isn't happening. read more

Sales Manager at RV showed smiled while at the same time talked down to me - phony niceness. Was told RV on dispaly at show would be cleaned prior to pickup, and would never be able tell anyone was in it. Not one bit of cleaning was done or even a walkthrough by Chesaco evident by issues brought up at show still not fixed, wall siding coming loose, dirtiness, etc. I asked how they could even let an RV go with a wall coming apart and the other issues. I kept being told that everyone was too busy with the Timonium RV show, so a lot fell through the cracks. Also was told I could leave right away and go camping. Another thing not true. RV was still winterized with antifreeze in lines. They said it's not normal to dewinterize in Feb, but I previously requested it and was told it would be done. Was told propane was full, get home and only one tank was. This place fibs and misleads people. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I had to pass along the excellent customer service I received from the young lady who works in the parts department. I ordered a screen door for my travel trailer. When it came in, we drove over an hour to pick it up. My husband took it to Delaware where our camper is parked. It was the wrong sized door. I called Chesaco but Lauren was out that day. i just knew this problem would not get resolved. The following day Lauren contacted me, stated that she talked to Forest River and they indeed sent the wrong part. Forest River agreed to send the correct door free of charge and directly to our house. Lauren was very professional and very courteous. I hope this company realizes what a great job she does. read more

Going to try and make this short. My fiancé and I decide to start searching for a camper Tuesday, 1st place Chesaco. Both currently have separate mortgage loans on our houses so we wanted to begin with financing, weren't sure if we would qualify for a second large purchase. From the website, we found the camper. Went in and looked at it, did the finance application. Lance left and said that he was running our credit. A few minutes later he came back and said, good news your approved! We were surprised that it was so easy as we thought we would have to save a few more months and buy it with cash. He had us fill out more documents, pick out stabilizing equipment and breaks. Because we now knew we were approved we became anxious and went back out to compare the chosen one to another... had the difficult talks, etc. We paid our down payment and was ready to take our purchase just like any other dealership. 1st red flag... he then said we could pick it up a week from that day, very strange but okay. We both have 3 different credit monitoring services on our phone. The next day or phones were going crazy with inquiries. We thought it was strange so we called Lance just to follow up. Left a message because he was "busy", waited hours with no call back, he was off Thursday so we wanted to catch him before he left for the day so we called right before they closed and got him. He said everything was fine and that he was waiting for corporate to do their part to finalize everything. I asked about the week wait and was able to move the pick up to Monday. He mentioned nothing about having to try another bank. Same thing happened Thursday and Friday. Literally, six hits on our credit (each). Typically, a dealer deal with one bank. That one bank pull a report from one bureau. We called Friday to ask him to stop, we couldn't understand what was going on. So he then decided to be truthful and literally said that they have 15 banks that they try through (the craziest thing ever) and that they were going down the list. He asked if either of us knew anyone who worked, worshipped or lived near a bank an hour away because the bank that they are trying through requires it. So weird, he was running inquires through banks that we clearly did not qualify to use. So basically, on day one he went away for minutes and came back excited as if he actually got an approval. So dishonest!!! Who would want their credit ran 15 times!?!? It wasn't that important, we would have just waited four more months and purchased using cash. We then said okay, since we're not approved you're issuing a refund now? He said no, we have to wait for corporate and hopefully we can issue it one day not week. This was all so crazy, I asked for a manager because he was able to instantly change me but could not instantly refund me. Obviously, the manage was "not in". Seeing as though Lance avoided us for days while trying to be deceitful. I am going to avoid calling the manager and being avoided, here's the review instead. We will be going to one of the surrounding RV dealers next time. Update: I have disputed the transaction after waiting almost a week for a refund. I called the office and left a message for Bert numerous times before today, no call back. I asked for the number to corporate and was advised that there is no corporate office. I've been dealing Chesaco on and off for years. They've had lot of personnel turn over in their service and parts department over the years. Sometimes they've been very helpful and other time useless depending on who was working their at the time. Currently they appear to be back to useless. Spoke to someone at the general number about an RV part I need. As soon as he found out that I hadn't purchased my RV at Chesaco he told me they couldn't do anything to help me for at least 90 days. Looks like their back to treating parts and repairs as just an adjoint to sales and not a serious business. read more

We just pickup our RV after being at CHESACO RV In Joppa, MD for two and a half months, and boy was I upset. The refrigerator we had in the unit was a residential frig, and they replaced it with a smaller camper frig which my husband said was OK not knowing exactly what they were subsisting our old frig with. When went inside the unit I was very disappointed in the fact that they must have flooded the unit when they replaced the water pump as our whole unit's floor was wet, even a puddles in it. When we talked to the general manager about the water they said it came from the leak in the ceiling over the cap, funny how the water got up a step and into the bedroom and walk in closet. General manager Mike told us they could try and dry it out but never offered any other solution to the problem. Not only did they keep our RV for two and a half months, they did not clean up their mess they had to removed a window, which they failed to tell us, to removed the broken frig. that should have been fixable. Bottom like their service depart is not qualified in repairs, they only replace. Very disappointed and would not recommend CHESACO RV to anyone. BEWARE, STAY AWAY!!! read more

I was picking up a brand new RV and even due we had an appointment nothing was ready. RV was not ready and the employees were not ready to finish the deal and give us our unit. after we took the unit to camping for the first time our heating and air conditioning was not working. we had to camp at very cold temperature without any heat. Nothing works normal in the unit at all. A lot of little fixtures was missing .We are very disappointed on the service we got. read more

They say they'll call you back and never do. They've had our RV since November, only winterized when we called in December to see if it was done yet. Said they'd call when they did it, we had to call them. They did call us in February to remind us of our appointment ---- we were originally scheduled to bring it in the middle of February but got an earlier appointment for November --- we reminded them that they already had our RV!! Said they would call us once they got started--- never did. Several calls to them and no call back. Finally able to actually stop in to their store --- March, when we were told it would be done by. It's not done. They did get two things done from the laundry list. Said they were NOW reaching out to Jayco about the warranty work. Said they call, they haven't. Called them, said they give Chuck the message and he's call us back, he hasn't. First camp out of the season is now ruined since we can't get our RV, thanks A LOT Chesaco! I purchased my rv from Chesaco 3 years ago. After the purchase I needed some work done. At this time I realized that the service department was terrible. No one knew anything so I took my service elsewhere. However I needed work done this month and tried them again. Boy was I surprised! I started off with Dixie Jones the Receptionist. She was terrific. She directed me to the new Parts Manager Sam Meneley and the new Service Writer Edward McCauley. These guys listened to my problems, took notes and then got Scott Dengler the Service Manager who would be directing his staff on how to fix my situation. These guys were fantastic, all the work was done on time the parts ordered were nothing less than magnificent and the maintenance was superb. Codos to the changes made at this dealership. The work done during this visit was install new carpet, remove old jack knife sofa and replace with new sleeper sofa, fix leak on the rear leans light and reconnect and seal lower slide trim. read more

I relocated to Maryland with a brand new 2018 Forest River product. I met a friend who really wanted to get into camping and after a lot of research, decided to take him to Chesaco RV in Joppa. My friend bought a brand new camper from them! I was pleased with this dealership and decided to take some warranty business to them for my own coach. Chesaco service said since I did not buy my coach from them, I would be at the back of the line which was 3 months away. I was even told directly from the service desk that if I had purchased my unit from them, they could get me in right away!! Even after telling them that I brought $15,000 of business their way, I was told thank you, but you still are at the back of the line. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! We purchased a highwall pop-up camper here and are thrilled with it! Shawn Monroe was our salesman, and he went out of his way to help us. The manufacturer forgot to include two hanging cupboards and we didn't notice it until a day or two later. Shawn got them for us quickly and had them delivered within two days. One of the mechanics explained very carefully how everything worked and how to maintain it. We highly recommend Shawn Monroe and Chesaco RV. read more

I am only giving a 1 review because I cant give less then a 1. I feel for all the folks that have had bad experiences with Chesaco. We bought our unit in Sept 2020 took it back several times for repairs. They fixed the problem but screwed up something else , took it back to get them to fix what they screwed up and screwed something else up. Ended up taking the unit to Camping World in PA they fixed everything and got most of it covered through warranty. Now the unit needs to go back to the manufacture, made arrangements in April to drop it off at Chesaco, called today to confirm everything was still good for the drop off and was told by the service manager that Burt Landis the general manager said I cannot bring it in I have been barred from entering Chesaco RV, I have been barred from Chesaco RV because I question them about services rendered. Like 1 other response stated the salesman Lance does not care about anything but getting the sale. The last time I was there he was the individual that I delt with last. We bought a brand new travel trailer from Chesaco last summer (July 2021). Great sales experience, and the service department did a great job showing us how everything worked. However, we have been trying to get it in for service since late October 2021 for a couple items that should be covered under warranty. As of today (May 3, 2022) we have not been able to even get an appointment. No waiting list, no cancellation list... just "call back next month." Either they have been working on the same units for 6 months, or we just haven't been lucky enough to call at the right time. read more

I just had my Jayco pop-up serviced there. They had every opportunity to shaft me, but didn't. Their prices are quite reasonable and they were completely honest with me. How refreshing... The only trouble - they never fixed what it was brought in for. Had to go back a second time (they are a 2 hour drive for me). Left the camper again, for another trwo weeks - and when I picked it up, it still wasn't completely fixed. I would up doing the rest of the job myself. read more
