I was looking forward to the experience. My parents live in Myrtle and they knew there wouldn't be a wait at the hour we wanted to eat. They normally have a good experience but I guess we picked the wrong day. First, my salad came and it had an awkward smell. The kind of smell that indicated the lettuce wasn't fresh. I didn't eat it at all. Luckily, our waitress was awesome and attentive and noticed I was not satisfied. She brought me a salad and that one was much better. Secondly, my wife ordered the salmon oscar. She took several bites then noticed a rancid smell. She didn't say anything but when I tasted it I immediately spit it out. It was literally spoiled and the smell was worse. The waitress again came over and took care of the issue. She smelled it herself and acknowledged the rotten smell. We stopped in for a small bite to eat. I ordered the ribeye, my wife ordered the fried flounder, and my parents got the gumbo. We also had fried calamari, buffalo wings, and the prime rib sliders. A group of 4 hungry adults and a baby were driving around looking for some good food. We stumbled upon this place and ended up being pleasantly surprised. We were greeted and served by very polite and professional staff. The waiter was personable and knowledgeable of the menu. The ambiance was nice and semi-romantic, this was not the typical "touristy" spot which was great. We also enjoyed the view of the turtle filled pond that lined the back of the restaurant. It was so interesting and relaxing watching the turtles swim and interact. We even got a chance to see a couple of gators when someone threw bread in the water. Our server was excellent and prices are reasonable. They do add a 18% gratuity to the bill. It would have been appreciated if this was pointed out. First time trying out this restaurant. We had a coupon for it in our "Attractions Coupon book". So we decided to try it out. We were seated after a few minutes and the server was friendly but appeared distracted. Maybe covering too many tables? We ordered our food and then waited. A couple came in about 15 minutes after us at the next table. After we were waiting an hour for our order, they received their food and we were still waiting. Note, there were only three of us at our table. We did not order anything exotic. I had their seafood platter, Kim had their seafood Florentine and my friend had their seafood creole. All standard items on their menu. While we waited, our server never came back to our table to say there was a delay or anything. After the table next to us got served we flagged down the server. She apologized and said she would check. She then came back and told us it was in the process of being "plated". The food was finally brought to the table and it was good, late, but good. Hence three stars instead of two. To add insult to injury, a 18% gratuity is automatically added to the bill (again, there were only three of us at the table). We will probably not go back again, there is an abundance of wonderful restaurants in Myrtle Beach for us locals to patronize. read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants near North Myrtle Beach. The restaurant offers a lovely view of a small lake. I love it when we are able to get a window seat so we can watch the turtles. We came here for a nice dinner while on a mini vacation and while they don't have outdoor seating they did put us in a social distance room. Our server was very attentive and we got our food fast. We ordered crab cakes as an appetizer and they were very tasty. Dinner and salads were great but the unsung hero is the insane bread basket with cheese biscuits and muffins. With all the other food the small plate (which was not small) is more than enough food. Overall great place and tasty food. read more

A group of us went on a Friday night and had a table overlooking the water. Some ordered steak, pork chops, seafood - while I had the Seafood Fettuccine. There were no complaints around the table except from me and another who also ordered the Seafood Fettuccine so I know it wasn't just mine. The Seafood was of good taste unfortunately the Alfredo sauce was very thick and overbearing. Probably a fluke and I will visit again. We tried this restaurant for the first time based on good reviews. When we arrived, it looked like an older restaurant in decent condition. We were seated and immediately noticed the stained ceiling tiles from leaks. Our waiter came quickly to offer us drinks, as well as telling us about the specials rapid-fire. When he returned with our drinks, and bread basket, we ordered the mixed grill and the shrimp creole. Both came with dinner salads, as well as potatoes and vegetables. When dinner was served, we knew we were in trouble. I ordered the mixed grill, which was said to be Atlantic salmon, shrimp and scallops. Everything was overcooked and dry. My husband had the shrimp creole, which had no resemblance to actual creole, and instead was dry shrimp over wild rice with bland tomato sauce. A true creole sauce should be bursting with flavor with tomatoes, celery, colorful bell peppers, onions, garlic, seasonings and herbs. We both took a few bites and left the rest. When our waiter came to clear the table, he asked if we wanted to box our leftovers, which we declined. Instead of asking if everything was ok, he cleared the table and brought the check, which had an extra item on it. When we pointed it out, he did remove it mumbling it was a mistake. The mistake was us dining at Chestnut Hill, which is overpriced ($98 before the tip) and not deserving of more than 1 - 2 stars. read more

Upon arriving, we ordered the super sampler platter with the bacon wrapped scallops, stuffed mushrooms, grilled shrimp, and crabcakes. All were AMAZING. Repeating my earlier review, the bread/muffin basket given out is great as well. Entrees were broiled flounder (with potatoes and veg) for me and a chicken salad for the wife. Both entrees were fantastic. Only issue was with my last piece of flounder; I ended up pulling out 4 bones from my mouth. This kinda thing happens, so I wasn't upset. Another minor issue was my wife's iced tea arrived with a fly in it. Our server quickly rectified the issue. For dessert, we were both full, but I still ordered a piece of key lime pie to go. The review of this restaurant is based only on the food. Our server was wonderful, but completely over worked. She tried her best to get us everything in a timely manner and was incredibly nice. We ordered a sampler appetizer. Shrimp were rubbery, the bacon wrapped scallops and meat bites were overcooked, and the mushrooms were dry. Our server apologized for the extended wait for our food, over an hour from when we were served our salads. The Marsala sauce for the pork medallions tasted as if it came from a bag or dry gravy mix. The shrimp in my scampi were rubbery and tasted old. My son's flounder was inedible and I requested it be taken off the tab. We found out there was a 40 top upstairs and the kitchen was way, way behind--all while several employees were sitting/standing by the entrance and continued to seat large parties. Son got fresh catch salmon simple grilled and was best salmon he ever had which I would agree. All desserts made in house and key lime pie did not disappoint. I'm overdue for an update. Everything has improved and the staff has really upped their game. We were warmly greeted at the front door. Tracy (host/Maitre' D) is a fixture there and was very welcoming to us and the party ahead of us. Our waitress, Ariel, was attentive and quick to anticipate our needs. Last night our table had the best filet mignon medallions from the early bird menu! Definitely recommend them! Each was cooked as requested perfectly, and topped with their crabcake which I have always thought was the best version found on the Strand. Their sautéed veggie medley is not always the "usual" - we had fresh yellow squash and wax beans along with the typical broccoli, carrots, and onions. Seasoned well and VERY tasty! My dinner companion and I ate dinner here at a quiet table overlooking the water at sunset. The views are gorgeous! The menu is extensive and the entrées which come with salad, potato, and vegetable of the day are quite large. My companion and I opted for appetizers and dinner salads - she crab soup and crab cakes. We both enjoyed our selections very much and had more than enough to eat! The wine list by the glass was extensive and the prices were quite reasonable. It was a pleasure to dine at a restaurant on the water with attentive service, well lit parking, and good acoustics for conversation. There would be some difficulties for those with mobility impairments, but with planning, not insurmountable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Found this online today and took my parents for their 50th wedding anniversary. The food was fabulous and we really enjoyed the view of the lake with lots of turtles and even an alligator! Went tonight for first time to Chestnut Hill and it was amazing. I don't eat fish and ordered the 8ounce ribeye with teriyaki sauce.The steak was tender and the sauce delicious. He rattled the specials off everything going ok. Then we hit a snag , on their website Chestnut Hill advertises PRIME RIB on FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. Four of us wanted the PRIME RIB, had we known they didn't have PRIME RIB we would have gone somewhere else. The manager didn't bother to come over and apologize or anything. They did send us out shrimp. If you are looking for OK food this will meet your needs. One thing I have learned about living in Myrtle Beach area there are many better restaurant to try.
