On a Saturday morning, we went looking for a few mechanics which were recommended to us. To our surprise, they were all closed on Saturday, and we were told to come back on Monday. We couldn't wait until Monday, so what did we do? We did a Yelp search, of course! Yelp to the rescue!!! The #1 business to appear after our Yelp search was Tony's Auto Service....they have a 4.8 Star Rating! Come on now, an auto service establishment with such a high rating?!?! The New Yorker in us were very skeptical! But we were in a bind, and time was ticking away, so off to Tony's Auto Service we went....it was only 5 minutes away! Yay! So we get to Tony's, and we're told that they're very busy and they can't look at our car right away, as there were two customers ahead of us. They said to leave the car and to call back in 2 hrs. We very cautiously left the car, and went to walk around town and have breakfast. In exactly 2 hrs, Tony called us and said our car was ready! He said come back and we'll discuss what the problem with the car is. We braced ourselves for what it would cost to repair the car. We also braced ourselves for the possible song and dance about what the problem was. Well....imagine our surprise when Tony told us that the problem is NOT an emergency, and didn't need to be taken care of right away. He told us exactly what was wrong, how much the parts would cost, and how much it would cost to get fixed. He gave us the ok to drive back to NY, and advised us to see our own mechanic whenever we got home. What?!?! As out-of-towners, we're not going to get ripped off?!?! Not only did we NOT get ripped off, Tony said there is NO CHARGE for the diagnosics! Now THAT is definitely 5 Star worthy!! We appreciate Tony's honestly and kindness so much. What a nice surprise. There really are honest mechanics still around! Thanks so much! Needless to say, we highly recommend Tony's Auto Service and recommended it to our local relatives. Business cards were taken and handed out!

We go to Tony since we arrived in Newton 8 years ago and we deeply appreciate his services!read more

But once you find it, you'll discover an honest mechanic who truly knows his stuff. I came in to get a second (and honestly third) opinion after the dealer tried to tell me I needed a bunch of work done that didn't quite add up. The dealer's estimate was sky-high, and another local shop wasn't much better. Here, the owner took the time to actually show me what was wrong with my car, explaining everything clearly and breaking it down piece by piece. Turns out, I only needed a new control arm and brake caliper, not the laundry list of unnecessary repairs the dealer was pushing. The owner definitely has a personality--he's a very funny guy. I could tell right away he's a genuinely good guy who takes pride in being honest with his customers. I read some of the other reviews before coming in, and after my experience, I have to say: they've got him all wrong. My visit was completely different--transparent, fair, and friendly from start to finish. His daughter works there too, and she's the perfect complement to her dad--so kind, friendly, and patient, making sure all my questions were answered and that I understood everything before leaving.

I brought my car to Paul since he was local and I needed my car checked asap. I had brought my car…read moreto Nissan in Norwood numerous times and was told my suspension was in good condition however, after taking it to Paul he informed me I needed a whole new suspension on my 2014 Nissan Altima and it was going to cost me $2,000 and he used KYB part etc., he told me he would give me part numbers and numerous times how he was a good guy not trying to rip me off, which should have tipped me off cause good people don't say they are they just are. So after speaking I decided to go forward with the repairs my own fault I should have gotten a written estimate prior to repairs not just a verbal agreement and I should have checked the parts myself but I didn't. Fast forward to a couple days later when I pick my car up I am then informed he didn't need to fix a couple parts in the rear suspension however, the price was still the same yes odd but then I was informed he damaged my rear passenger side door while he had it up on the lift and when damaged I mean smashed completely needed to be completely replaced however, instead of calling me to inform me he damaged MY vehicle he took it upon himself to call a junkyard and put a door that was damaged and had no child lock which I use to keep my 4-year-old form attempting to open the door I informed him but due to it being the holiday weekend he made it as no big deal I will fix it after the holiday and cover expenses, agh yeah you damaged it. I just paid and left at this point one more thing would just tip my stress level to max and I just wanted to get out of there. I called him on that Wednesday s after the 4th since it was a holiday weekend and most places were closed to inform him when I go over bumps Im hearing a clunking noise which I didn't even hear before I fixed my suspension he told me he was swamped could I bring it on Monday I agreed and his mechanic took a drive with me and told me that noise is normal because it's a new stuff suspension yeah I don't think so but I brought my car to my auto body guy who had done some body work a while back and he had a mechanic of his check the door to make sure nothing else was damaged. He informed me if this guy is going to do the body work this is what needs to be done so it's done right. I spoke with the owner Paul before having his auto guy touch my car as to what I required as far as him painting my car door. He was compliant and agreed until I informed him that if while he had my vehicle and if anything else happens before you fix, order a part etc. Call me first he informed me he didn't with my door because it was 4th of July weekend he was busy and then said how he got sick after the 4th which I don't understand how you getting sick a week after or even days after had an effect but ok first call should have been to me the owner not a junk yard. He told me he would give me the parts numbers and then said he wasn't giving me anything, raised his voice Im not trying to get over on anyone in fact I think he said I was. I don't know how a paying customer is trying to get over on him. You pay for something to get fixed you want the job done just like you wanted the money when the job was complete. To sum it up I paid him for a crappy suspension job which is loud over bumps and I was informed could be the bushings weren't changed. So now I am still dealing with my cars suspension and after Paul the owner yelling at me and telling me to shut up right this great guy lol I wouldn't let him "fix" anything on my car. True colors always shine through and when confronted with his scammer ways he exploded. He charged me $419.17 each to be exact for for KYB front quick struts. Retail they don't even go for $200 so he charged me double what he paid which I paid for my door he damaged myself in the long run. When I asked him to show me the invoice to what he paid he told me to "shut the hell up" and "this is what you do bring your car to shops" agh yes I wanted my car fixed and you could have proved me wrong with just showing me the invoice but he couldn't because he knows he over charged me. So now I am going through small claims court to get my door fixed. IF YOU DECIDE TO FIX YOUR CAR WITH THIS PLACE PLEASE GET A SECOND OPINION FIRST, GET AN ESTIMATE PRIOR TO REPAIR AND DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH FOR WHAT THE PARTS COST !!!!!! HE IS NOT THE NICE GUY HE CLAIMS TO BE AND AS A MAN TO SPEAK TO A WOMEN THAT WAY, A PAYING CUSTOMER I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW HE TREATS HIS EMPLOYEES !!!!
