I brought my lower control arm bushings there for the front of the car suspension to get the old ones pressed out and have the new ones pressed in. They charged me 145 for an hour of labor and proceeded to bend one of the metal parts that holds the bushing as well as plasma cut it. This is not acceptable since it supports the weight of the suspension components that hold the car up and even a minor alteration if not done properly can cause a deadly accident. read more

I come here all the time for car repairs because the Toyota dealership loves to over charge... The man that I always work with is Jeff, I believe that he runs the center, he's always kind and very informative about what's going on with your car. He gives you the hard truths and also gives you cheaper alternatives; but he's always honest about how long the cheaper alternatives will last and if they are even worth the hassle. I'm typically there without appointment and that's not a problem for them, I come around 6:30, they open at 7. He takes a look at the problem, tells you if he will need to order parts and how long the job could potentially take. I'm always out by around 1pm even when parts need to be ordered! The secretary woman who is always there is super sweet and usually has snacks, like homemade brownies, in the waiting area. She comes out with updates about your car occasionally if she feels you've been waiting too long. I started coming here because of my mother and she recommended myself and my Nana and we haven't gone anywhere else for years. They are great! read more

Conveniently close to home!! Spoke with secretary Marcia ( she's the GIRL!! ) she's very friendly and knowledgeable!!! She paged Jeff (owner and mechanic) who was available on a Friday afternoon!!! Luckily was able to do a diagnosis scan. Took my car test ride. Luckily it wasn't serious enough to have to leave it for the weekend!!! Made appointment and went for the follow-up. Thankfully it wasn't to serious. The prices are reasonable...!!! There are 3 - 4 bays for cars as well as 4 great mechanics. I highly recommend this repair shop!! I thought my Subaru was pinging because it was making a rattling noise at a certain RPM. I made an appointment and brought my car in. After I described the problem, one of the guys told me that it might just be a heat shield rattling, which would be a LOT cheaper than fixing engine knock. I called the next day, and it was the shield! Praise God! They were very courteous, honest, and friendly. I had one of the brownies that one of the other reviewers wrote about. I came in here in a bind with a dying ignition cylinder that I had to hold together to get my car to start. I was at Pep Boys, because the price they quoted me was cheap, but then they wanted $100 to look at the car and wouldn't credit it toward the cost of the work, even though I knew what was wrong with my car! It was going to cost me double what I planned on spending, and they'd have to give me a new key, which meant also getting a spare key cut = extra expense. Someone at Pep Boys overheard me, and told me to go down the street to Dedham Service Center. Jeff took care of me, and while it cost nearly as much as Pep Boys, he got me an OEM part from the dealership, so I got to keep the same keys. We started the work around 3:00 P.M., and I was out the door around 5:30, even though the shop was incredibly busy. My car starts better than ever now, and I am thoroughly pleased...and I supported a local business! Better than anything else, I'm not stuck without a car for the weekend! read more

Honesty is hard to find in the car service business, and over the past ten years, Jeff has never once told me I needed something when I didn't. His prices are fair and justified. They could have ripped me off and let me fix my car up, but instead they called me and said it would be smarter to trade the car in for a newer car. BEWARE! I brought my car here for a very expensive tune up. I trusted the owner and should NOT have. Prior to taking my car there my A/C was fine. The next day I turned on the A/C and it would not work. Because it was so hot I pulled into the nearest garage and asked the guy to take a look. I stood right beside him. He checked multiple things and was baffled -- freon was fine - no leaks Finally, he checked the fuses to find out that the A/C fuse was missing! Not burnt or cracked - missing! The ONLY people under that hood were from the DEDHAM SERVICE CENTER. The fuse was replaced and once again the A/C is fine. I bristle at the fact that I ever even left my car at the Dedham Service Center in the first place - it is on Washington Street just outside the mall. My mom swears by this place. It was recommended to her by a friend. They drive her home when they need to keep her car and they pick her up so she can get her car when it's done. I just don't like the wait time it takes for them to call her. She was suppose to get it back last night and they never even called to tell her about it. Dedham Service Center is full of "the good guys." I brought my Honda in after having (what I thought) was issues with the starter. Joe looked at it right away and went above and beyond to identify the problem. Joe and the Team called and drove to multiple places until finding a part that fit/worked. Once they figured out it wasn't the starter, they called me to confess they were baffled and that I needed to take the car somewhere where they could take the transmission out (bummer but there was nothing further they could do for me). The whole time they were incredibly communicative and HONEST about the prices & work being done. In the end, they spent almost five hours looking at it and only charged me a FRACTION of the labor cost I should have owed. I'm always wary of being ripped off at auto shops but everything the guys told me checked out. Can't recommend them enough! Great people! read more

Jeff and his team at DSC have done great work on my car. Jeff has always been completely honest about where things stand, what's not working, and what doesn't have to be repaired right away. For example, I took my car in because I thought that the timing belt needed to be replaced. Jeff called to let me know that the previous owner probably replaced it already and that I didn't need a new one. I never would have known that it didn't need to be done, and Jeff saved me hundreds of dollars by telling me even though he knew I wasn't aware of it having been done. I've taken my car to him multiple times this year, often with short notice, and he always makes himself available. Jeff and his team are the best at what they do I was recommended by my Husband the Ranger as Jeff calls him. I needed new breaks and was calling around to get pricing. Average was $750-1000. I I called Dedham Service Center and they said " We can't be sure until we see the car/parts, but rouhgly $500-600. I'm sure you want to call around and see other prices." They were not pushy and did not try to lure you into 1000 things that could be done to your car. Pricing ended up being $475 and have had absolutely no issues. They were the NICEST people and so helpful in everyway. Ive known Jeff for years,long story short,I brought my 96 suburban there because I thought I blew freeze plugs in December.Had it towed there it sat for about a month.After repeated calls that went unanswered I went down there and he told me it needed an engine and it would cost 2000 plus.So I towed it home and looked at it myself and all it needed was a water pump that blew a front seal and a cracked thermostat housing that was shooting out towards the rear of the truck.The saddest thing is that he didnt even look at the truck to sell me a simple water pump job that I did in 2 hours with my 3 year old son.I am really pissed off Jeff.You looked in my eyes and wanted over 2 grand for something you didnt even look at.I've been sending my customers there for years,but not any longer.I will post this same message on every forum I am on, and facebook as well.If you want it to stop I want my 200 dollars for towing the truck there and back.You should be ashamed of not taking the time to look after your monkeys that work there. read more
