This is the only gas station that can be seen when going to IKEA and right before the 101N freeway. Some of the pumps are damaged and the place is crazy busy with a bunch of cars waiting for the pumps that work. Being in the EPA area I am amazed that there aren't credit card skimming device attached to every pump. read more

Jesus, the hate for this Chevron is real. I don't even mind the hobos or the no bathrooms or whatever - that's just an EPA problem right there. Sometimes they're even nice about it - will offer to wipe your windshield for a couple books. I wouldn't do it, but it's better than having their kids walk up to you with a cardboard sign. However, its seemingly convenient location at the corner of the 101 is actually atrocious. It's extremely difficult to get out after you finish filling your tank unless you're going west on Donohoe. Seriously, what's the point of filling up your tank here if it takes a quarter gallon just waiting to get out? read more

- The service you receive here is like a roller coaster. There is a few nice, kind employees and I suppose it must be difficult to work with the few a-holes that work here. I have seen a different levels of rudeness, from raising their voice to customers and one customer actually walked behind the counter telling the attendant to "say that shit to his face, not while he was walking out the door." Guess who shut the F-up real quick. Another attendant cussed out a homeless person who was just trying to get a hot cup of coffee. A customer had asked to use the restroom, the attendant said it was out of order, as another customer walked out saying "thank you." I just go to get gas since it's near my home. When McDonalds and Taco Bell are close a little after 10pm and you really really have to go pull this move if you are female: Scene: Chevron's little market is closed and I really have to pee. The place is bumping, cars at every filling station and a line to pay at the window. My sister sees an employee heading out for the night and she opens the door from the inside. Sister: (runs up to her while the door is open) Excuse me. (politely) Chevron Lady: Yes? Sister: My sister over there (points to me) is kind of pregnant and she really needs to use the bathroom. Me: ?!??!? (in my head) Sister: Will that be ok? Chevron Lady: Sure, I guess. So, yeah she fibbed a bit, I'm not pregnant. But it worked. That was also the nicest thing my sister has done for me in a decade. Moral of the story: I guess it's not always a bad thing when people you don't know think you might be expecting. read more

So I live not too far from this place and as I drove past it I asked myself: Lijh: "Self...?" Self: "Yes?" Lijh: "Can I Yelp a gas station?" Self: [In the tune of T.I.] "You can Yelp whatever you liiiike" Lijh: "Thanks! You're so smart!" Self: "Thanks! You're pretty smart too sir. Great shirt by the way. Brings out your eyes." Lijh: "Awww shucks! I Bet you say that to all the Yelpers.." So Chevron (with Techron) in the beauuuuuutiful city of EPA. Like any other gas station in the Bay, you'll find someone less fortunate (these days, who isn't??) getting their hustle going, whether it be windshield washing (cuz my wipers don't work), gas pumping (cuz my hand doesn't work), or straight-up panhandling (cuz uh..they don't work). But these folks ain't really my problem. It's pulling up and the joint is HELLA crowded only because 1/2 the pumps are working. I think they seriously have someone waiting on the corner, see my Explorer an then run inside shouting "THE SAMOAN IS COMING! THE SAMOAN IS COMING!" and proceed to shutting down 1/2 the pumps, then calling all their friends who don't know how to form a line, or use courtesy with a vehicle, and block the way for me to at least get off the street to let thru traffic. RIDICKEROUS i tell ya! Fix ya pumps! That's why I hit the Shell on Embarcadero. Besides, it's a few cents cheaper too! read more

You are always bothered buy bunch of drug addicts begging you for $$ with sub story how they need gas money to get back to the city or just straight asking for couple dollars. I pointed out few times to employees that simple no trespassing sign would solve the problem but they didn't seem to care, so I simply stay away even thought it's my closest chevron and that's my preferred gasoline. read more

Gas was terribly priced but they had the latches on the pumps so you don't have to hold the handle. I don't know why I have this obsession with the latches. I guess it has something to do with the fact that there really isn't too much else you can rate on other than price. Anyway, I came here after going to Ikea and it is convenient for that and for getting back on the freeway. I just stopped and got gas super-fast style so I only quickly noted that my life didn't seem in danger from thugs and it wasn't particularly dirty or clean. read more

Sometimes this is my alone time. The time between home and work. I just want to relax, eat some chocolate and pump my gas. I don't know why I keep coming here. There's always a....ummm.... less fortunate asking for $$. Scratch that... 2 or more. One will get you as you exit your vehicle to clean your windows, one will get you between the pumps, and the last one will be right at the door. I give them some every once and a while, but now it feels like a routine. I don't owe you money. Grrrr... Ok so I go to this gas station occasionally because it's one of the few around the university area. This place looks okay, but east palo alto is kind of sketchy and you see a lot of people who pump gas here pump 5 - 10$ here. But here is my story about my (sorta) bad experience here. So I was driving someone else's car and I didn't know that the gas light didn't work and I ended up running out of gas in the middle of the road a block away. I frantically ran to this gas station trying to get one of those canisters to fill up my car. So I go to the cashier and I ask him very hurriedly, I need a canister for gas for my car and that my car was a block away. He said I can't help you we don't have it here. Me, completely disappointed was going to walk out when another customer was like oh you want a canister? There's a few up there and he pointed to a few canisters right above the cashier for about 12 bucks. Alas, my day was saved. But I was pretty mad that the cashier didn't care or didn't suggest any way to help me at all. He wasn't apologetic or in the very least concerned. If it weren't for that customer I don't know what I would have done, but as for my experience here I wouldn't ask for any help from the staff here. read more

Very bad service ! Mr. Sra made a mistake today by adding gas to the wrong number ! So I went back to him and asked him why my balance was 0.00 dollars and he actually said He add the gas to the number 5 . I told him I was on number 3 . He give me a very bad attitude saying he was not going do anything about it because it was my mistake . So my mom went in today and gave the guy a 100 dollar bill and ask him for full gas. She went to go pump gas and only waisted 50 dollars, she went inside to get her change and didn't get her 50 dollars. She told the guy we're was her change and told her she was not getting nothing back. My mom ask the guy behind her which he saw everything that was going on and told the guy in the register he seen her take out a 100 dollar bill and the guy in the register was denying it. "We don't have a restroom here" - Cashier Came here for gas after leaving Palo Alto, was planning on filling up my SUV here. After paying cash at the cashier window, I asked if I could use the restroom and his response was we don't have a bathroom here. In California, gas stations must provide a restroom. It is a code violation to not "have one". If they don't have one, where do employees relieve themselves? Judging by the general neglect to the building, the place looks run down, I wonder, since they say they have no bathroom, are they forced to find a restroom outside, behind the building somewhere? So I asked where he went to the bathroom, he responded "here" even though a few minutes earlier he told me they didn't have a restroom. Instead of filling my tank with their gas, I went with $5.00 instead and took my business elsewhere. I suggest you do the same. read more

What a crappy gas station. Not only is it in a seriously dubious neighborhood (ladies, don't come here after dark) but the darned pumps don't work properly. The auto has shutoff valve was kicking in every 0.2 gallon. We tried two different pumps but after five minutes of wrestling and some colorful language we finally left with a mere three gallons in the tank and a desire never to return. read more

This station sucks. The attendant would not help me when my car broke down right outside the station.

I try to avoid this gas station the best I can, although it's difficult when the Embarcadero Shell station closes early at night. This Chevron is perpetually crowded and to make things worse many customers are directed indoors to finish their transactions for "security purposes." This station also has a severe case of panhandling; on many occasions I've been asked to contribute to someone's gas jug. read more

Terrible in ever way. You can sense the danger when you pull in. Probably best to completely avoid. Between the "need some gas money" and the "help you with the pump" onslaught, you basically want to get in and out as fast as possible if you bother to stop at all. read more
