My job took me out to Hwy 1 and Montara on a Friday evening. I decided to ignore my GPS and use Hwy 92 to head back to the Bay. Half Moon Bay was busy with heavy traffic at around 5pm. So I stopped at the Chevron gas station at Hwy 1 x Main Street. UL Reg was $4.69/gal, which is avg for the SF Bay Area. I was happy to see that my chip enabled Chevron gas card worked at the pump. This station is large, with plenty of room to maneuver. The station was clean. The food mart was well stocked, and the clerk was friendly and polite. Taking a break is very important when driving. You get tired faster on an empty stomach. So get some food, snacks, and drinks. All that junk food, coffee, candy, and energy drinks are in that food mart for a reason! Hwy 1 can be a dangerous road. So take a break, and enjoy the drive! read more

Typical Chevron - my car is a princess, so it love Techron. The corporate design works & I rarely complain. However.... this location has THE CLEANEST bathrooms. Prices were good today. Machines worked well. Everything was as it should be, but the extra surprise of CLEANEST BATHROOMS really made my day. read more

The positives: it is very clean inside and the people are friendly enough. The negatives: most expensive gas on the coast and the car wash is a joke. It is touchless, so you will not get your car very clean, and worst of all, the water has an awful stench that stays with you like a ghost for hours. I'm always amazed at how the staff keep this location so clean and well stocked. Whether town is busy or slow they are consistently on point. It's always a stop us on the way out of town. The employees are always friendly. The location is always well stocked with unique items and the bathrooms are always so clean and smell fresh. Don't get gas here. Go up to Pacifica to the Valero where it's much more reasonable. I do like the convenience store at this Chevron -- it's bright and clean and has a ton of snacks, sodas, etc. Excellent place to stock up on a road trip. The car wash sucks. If your car is lightly dusty, go ahead. But if you've got a bird-shit problem, don't bother. Your car will come out the other end still caked with it. read more

Do NOT go to the car wash here. I got suds thrown on the car some water after paying for the highest grade version. My car is STILL dirty. I cover my car every day to prevent it from getting to dirty, but while driving, it happens. This isn't off roading dirt or anything, it is basic, driving on the high way dirt. This is the highest priced gas on the entire coast. If I ever get the chance, I go to the Chevron in Moss Beach and if I really get the chance I go to the Chevron on Woodside Road. Amazing! Let me just say that I ALWAYS go to Chevron. Not only does the gas seem to last longer, but I have heard that it is best for your car. With that being said, because I frequently visit Half Moon Bay I always stop at the Chevron across from McDonald's. They are always so nice and helpful! I purchased a car wash and for some reason the code wouldn't work with the machine so I went inside and explained my problem. The representative, Ana was so nice to fix the problem and apologized even though it was not her fault. Every time I have gone I always see her and she always remembers me and the stories I tell her. She is always smiling and asks how my life is going since our last encounter. I couldn't ask for better gas, I couldn't ask for better service :) read more

Gas prices are fair, but their car wash (which is the only one in town) is always broken: it's been totally blocked off for the past month, and a few months back the wash's card reader went and stayed down so that you first had to go to the cashier and pay them, get a code from them, then enter that code in the car wash credit card reader. I had a nice experience when I stopped off at this Chevron. The bathroom was clean, the car wash took care of all that dirt that built up from my drive up to Tahoe, and the gas was priced about the same as everywhere else. They have other conveniences that I didn't take advantage of such as the store which included all kinds of snacks and drinks. Average gas, for high prices. You can buy the same gas at a much lower price at More for Less a 1/4 mile south at Highway 1 and Kelly Ave. intersection. Additionally, there's an Arco station on Deleware Ave. in San Mateo, off of highway 92, which gives fair prices on gas. All gas stems from the same few U.S. refineries, it just has different names. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Stopped by the station to fuel up a company vehicle. The pump was apparently not working properly and the message displayed indicated I needed to see the cashier. I should have left the station at that point instead of being treated so rudely by the unprofessional customer service representative by the name of Anna. She had a negative attitude as soon as I asked her to assist me. She "barked" orders for me to swipe my card and give her a "maximum" amount to be charged on the card. This seemed odd to me, so I hesitated but she continued to order me through the process, acting annoyed and disrespectful. All the while, she was training a young man by the name of Everett. He looked embarrassed by her attitude and kept apologizing for her behavior. She finally admitted that there was a problem with that particular pump (too bad she didn't offer the choice of me simply trying another pump and avoiding having to deal with her). Her demeanor was shameful and the owner of this station should be appalled that their customers are being exposed to such unprofessional service. I do not plan to return to the station and will discourage my friends and associates from patronizing this facility as well. The young gentleman being trained, Everett, should be promoted and given Anna's job! read more

I love this station! Cleanest gas station restroom I have ever experienced, good coffee, friendly employees. When you go to wash your windows the squeegee isn't old and ragged and there is actual soap in the water. The pumps are roomy and easy to access. I like the carwash too - it doesn't scratch my car. Others complain about the price, but it's the same as any other Chevron. My time is valuable and the other stations in town can't match the convenience, and I can't stand a dirty restroom. read more

Yesterday I would have given them a much higher rating, as I frequent the gas station and car wash regularly. Today, however, changed my mind. I used the car wash [$10 with 2 soap passes] - I have always been pleased with the results....I left and went to the pharmacy and got out of the car and it looked simply awful - as if a hose had been used. Still lots of dust, etc and easily wiped off with a towel. I wasn't worried as the station has always seemed customer friendly. I returned immediately and told them of my concerns, gave them my receipt, told them that the car looked awful and I had just used the car wash.... RESPONSE was "Don't know what to say the car wash is working fine. Sometimes if a car has a lot of road dirt [which wasn't my case] then it doesn't clean it completely. I don't know what I can do." End of conversation! HERE IS WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE!: Walked out and looked at the car...made a comment on the streaks, remaining dirt, say something like it is not usually like that - not just dismissed me, you could have offered me another pass thru the car wash, anything to keep my business. I buy a great deal of gas, car washes, and sundries! NO MORE. I will try out the Shell station, not as convenient, but hopefully better customer service and they have a car wash.
