I thought I thought that I purchased gas here, but was mistaken. When I called, the man was polite and looked up the transactions from the morning to offer me immediate relief. I am sorry that I did not purchase gas here. But I got a couple gallons from the 76 down the way and had the opposite experience. They authorized $100 on my card, and when I called in the woman was very rude to me and told me that they take two days to complete a gas pump transaction . From the reviews it seems that Malibu gas stations are staffed by entitled pricks. I guess it's a supply and demand issue but my experience with this Chevron and the friendly employee was a good one and I highly recommend it over going to 76. read more

Bought a cup of tea here but also wanted to use the air pumps. So, I asked for four quarters in my change to use them. I was told that they would turn it on for free since I bought something. Okay, a generous gift (but probably because he didn't have any quarters in the register anyway). However, when I used the pumps, the built-in air gauge wasn't working properly. I went back inside and asked if they had a spare tire gauge I could borrow just to make sure I wasn't over inflating my tires. Instead, I was instructed to buy one that they had for sale. This is the worst gas station attendant I have ever met. In my opinion. We pay more for fuel by far then most places in the area. It is Malibu. Rent/ Real estate cost is higher, in turn we pay more for services. I understand that. Still, Chevron is the best fuel. However. This attendant who is of employment here needs to be schooled. By someone of a small but similar background. Someone educated who knows the value of a dollar and how earn it in customer service. I have never been treated so rudely by multiple gas station attendants. They were in the middle of a shift change apparently so they kept pointing to a sign saying five minute wait after we had already been there well over five minutes. Dear Sir or ma'am, Yesterday, Saturday 24 APR 2021 at approximately 1700 I read the sign listing fuel prices at $4.79/gal for supreme and I pulled my Jeep into pump #6 at Chevron #93357. After a few moments I exited my vehicle, took a few extra moments clearing trash from the vehicle, and showed my passenger a modification I did to my gas cap cover. Then, I took a few moments to enter my loyalty number, selected supreme, and finally began fueling my vehicle. This all took a bit of time. It was during fueling that I realized the price at this pump was not the same I had seen on the station signage near the roadside, but instead was $5.69/gal. Then I observed a small home-printed taped up/over label indicating "FULL SERVICE ONLY PUMP" just above the card reader. At this point my 16 gallons were almost completely fueled and at no point did anyone approach me or my passengers to offer any full service services. Furthermore, no professional signage was present on the pumps or overhead where reasonable identification of such pumps would be placed. This practice of what I can only assume as hoping motorists will not realize it's a 'full-service pump' (and not even offering such services) seems very suspicious and unethical for Chevron so, after fueling I went inside with my passenger to get a receipt (the pump was unable to print one) and ask the attendant to credit my AMEX for the difference. Inside, I explained to Dina, the cashier, that I believed a credit was appropriate, and legal, in this situation. She kept repeating "no money back" and after a few moments of trying to explain, I took my receipt as there was an apparent language barrier. I'd like to bring to your attention there was a line of customers using the ATM getting cash because (according to another sign on the cashier's window) "Cash Only. Satellite Down". (I used my AMEX at the pump, however). All the customers in line who overheard my explanation agreed that this was shady business. Even if it were full-service after I filled up myself, why wouldn't the attendant advise me that I had used a full-service pump, or better yet, offer to check my fluids, tires, and windshield in an attempt to justify full-service pricing? I'd like to request response to is this how Chevron and/or their franchise owners (Trancas Oil, Inc./ Bouris Pouldar and his associates) are instructed to conduct business? Let me tell you a story. I pull up needing gas so I pull up to the pumps on the far right near the doors. I then notice that the there is a small sticker saying that it is a full service pump and realize oh crap, I better go to another pump which I did. A minute later a man on a bike pulls up to where I was at previously. He is about to put his card in when interrupt him thinking I was being nice in case he didn't notice that he was at a full service pump. I tell him that he's at a full service pump and he thanks me and moves to another pump like I did. So I continue to do my thing. Put my card in and get ready to pump and then I hear some beeps and then it says "pump stopped, please wait." So I wait, it resets and I try it again. It does it again. In my head I thought I inputed everything to slow. So I try a 3rd time and it does it again. This time it stays pump stopped. So I walk inside and ask the cashier, Geo (I don't know if that is actually his name, it was on his name tag.) if the pump is working. He nods and tells me "Yes... By the way don't tell people that they're parked at the full service. It's not your business." I thought wow. Completely rude and uncalled for and even kind of crappy to let people unwillingly get full service gas. I then walked out and tried a different pump and the same thing. He shut it off again... I called to find out what time they closed due to corona virus hour modifications. I asked what time they closed because I was going to walk literally across the street from my sister in-laws beach house. The lady yelled at me not to waste her time and made a chicken clucking sound then hung up. I called back 3 times and she made more rude comments and she hung up and told me to come down she had no information for me. It was really terrible. This was today 4-18-2020 at 8:40pm. COMPLETE RIP OFF. Do not ever ever ever come here even if you've run out of gas (lol, that's why we pulled over but if you can, please find the next closest one). The reviews about confusing/incorrect price listings are accurate. They charge about a dollar more PER gallon for "full service," in which nothing, absolutely nothing comes out of it. My parents went inside to simply ask about it, and the cashier (the guy) snobbishly remarked it was service for those "when it's very busy" and went to the girl cashier to laugh about it and give my parents rude looks. Seriously, where is the customer service? We paid extra, accidentally or not, but you can at least explain the pricing kindly. Fees are ridiculous. Yeah we all know gas prices are on the rise but to charge a fee just to use card or Apple Pay is ridiculous. Gas prices are insane to be charging fees. The manager/ owner should be paying for that not customers. There's two options and different prices for cash and card. I got charged $1.80 just for using Apple Pay. This place gives Chevrons everywhere a bad name. The price gouging in crazy, when I first started hanging out around PCH and Trancas Canyon I went in to buy a bottle of water-a 12 ounce bottle of Arrowhead, mind you-the guy behind the counter rang it up and said to me in a voice calmer than any I could ever muster given the words that spilled from his maw "One dollar and seventy-five cents". Wait a minute, Jefe-did you just quote me a price of a buck SEVENTY FIVE for a small bottle of California water? Plan B was a can of Arizona tea, never seen one of those over a buck-except for a liquor store in West Adams once where a sly clerk tried to charge me a dollar and a quarter for a chilly can of watered down refreshment (I gave him a buck-oh-seven and dared him to say 'boo' about it)-but at Trancas Canyon Chevron...it's true, they'll demand $2.25. As Abraham Lincoln once said, "screw that, I'll go to Starbucks across the street if I want to overpay for tea". There's a younger girl (Hispanic, of course-everyone here is, including the crowds of wishful workers congregating in the parking lot and giving my girlfriend a hard time anytime she comes near this place alone [ladies, beware, they're AGGRESSIVE]) who works the early PM shift who has pink hair and a SERIOUS attitude problem...she doesn't give me any sh*t after I checked her on it once, but she's ruthless to my lady anytime she goes in to use the ATM (a $2.00 fee BTW), so BOTL for that little gem of customer service excellence. Oh,, and no one here cares how long you've been on the road, what you drank or ate or what it's doing to your bladder or lower intestinal tract-you're not getting into the restroom without a purchase. The Metro 534 (Washington-Fairfax to Malibu/PCH) lays over here for about 20 minutes between trips, and I've seen the friendly team behind the counter refuse the restroom to the bus drivers TWICE. These days, they just head straight over to Starbucks (which is an excellent example of what a Starbucks should be, they're awesome and the restroom code never changes from 1122) and skip the BS. Speaking of Starbucks, I spend a lot of time there drinking thise neat little VIA thingies, and since I bring my own coffee I don't like to bug the staff for hot water, so I went to Chevron for it everyday for about a week...until they started demanding fifty cents for a cup of hot agua. I gave 'em twenty five, the bastards. I'm not too keen on what choices are available west of here, but if you're coming from the east you should probably stop for gas, zoom-zooms and wham-whams over at Civic Center or even Heathercliff and PCH. The Last Straw Today ! I pulled in on my motorcycle and put my foot down to stop and hold up the bike. Almost went down. Transmission oil all around where I parked. I saved the fall, and when I was set, I noticed another very large puddle of oil all across the driveway right in front of me. I am glad I didn't hit that spot or I for sure, would have went down, damaging my bike and myself. I went inside to ask the staff to do something about cleaning up the oil spots , (so no one else would fall (and sue the company), or Crash their motorcycle, (and sue the company), or track the oil into the store (where they'd have to clean it up), or, track it into their cars, (damaging their carpets.) These were large spots right where people walk all day and night. They simply nodded ok unenthusiastically. I went back outside, filled my tank, carefully backed away, and parked on the side of the building to watch. Why? Because I could tell immediately they weren't going to do a damn thing. I was right, 15 minutes passed, and I went back inside to ask why they wouldn't clean it up. ( I worked a gas station, by myself, and locked the doors , until I finished cleaning the same thing up, then let customers in. So, I wasn't asking something I wouldn't do myself.) There were 3 employees working at the time. 2 (men) (Julio is one) and one woman (Cynthia). Their names I will post later. I have been going to this station for 30 years, I have been on account for 25 of them. You would think they would respond with some kind of respectful, "sure, we'll get right on it".. Nope ! Instead Julio said " you said it once" . WTF? So, I said, "ok, but no one is doing anything about it." This is a safety issue. The man saying this to me, (Julio), I have witnessed in at least 8 problems with other customers, who couldn't believe how he was talking to them. They were eventually yelling at him. Now I know why. It is his ego , that will not allow him to do the right thing, and give them whatever it was they came there for. It is no longer, the possibility that they were all bad customers in my mind. He was a problem from day one. I mentioned this to numerous people, (some knew this) and thought by now he'd be gone, but he's still there. I will try to change that. There are so many people who would love to work there and help people. So, after that second session, I went outside again, and stood by my bike. Knowing I hadn't left, the problem man with the bad answers went out, grabbed a couple paper towels and quickly wiped up the larger spot. He didn't even touch the one I almost fell on. I drove away. I returned in 20 minutes to pick up a car that was in for service. And said, " there's still another spot there." (remember, this will make a man fall, or slide out a motorcycle). This time, Julio's brilliant response was, " Well, I've seen you telling people to change pumps the other day" . I shook my head . What? Julio, said, " yes, you told them to go to the other side of the pump to the cheaper gas, not full service." I shook my head. I asked "what does that have to do with the safety issue here?" Julio's response was, " that's business" . I told him, "his ego was so big, it was not allowing him to do the right thing here." I was so confused now, I left again...I will finish this matter. It has to be reported. I will edit in the names later. I also said , " give me the stuff to clean it up, and I'll do it myself". Julio's reply was " only employees can clean up messes." Unbelievable ! If I didn't say anything, they would never have cleaned it , and who knows how much damage may have happened. During the time I left , I'm sure people walked the stuff into their cars. Remember, 2 full grown men were there, and the woman could easily stay in and watch the store. This station quite often, if not "always" has the highest prices on the highway. Maybe in the county, I don't know that for sure. Stopped in today, and Julio was yet again being yelled at by another customer. Lady was irate. No surprise. This gas station needs to be reported. Cashier was suspicious with debit/credit cards. He would swipe them then turn them around with the sec #on the back up.
