This place is extremely expensive for gas. There is a gas station in little river that's much cheaper it's just not on the map. Go there.

Horrible. There was no sign displaying prices and we couldn't see the price on the pump, as the cover was dusty and scratched up. The windows were boarded up and yet one pump seemed to be in working order. By the time I realized that the amount was rapidly tallying up, I'd paid $111.00 for 11 gallons of 91 gas. They don't label the price on a sign, by the time you start pumping gas you realize it's $9.70 a gallon for regular. They even talk to you while you start pumping gas so you don't realize how much of a rip off it is. read more

I choose Chevron for a very simple reason. The fuel has additives to keep the injectors clear and the valves clean. It may not be the least amount to pay for gas. In the long run it will save me in many ways. Years ago I was a service writer in a small town for a car dealership. Many times people had there vehicles stop running or lost power. The gas they were buying was the culprit clogging fuel filters that are located in the fuel tank. Removing the tank to get to the fuel pump / filter requires removal of the golden fuel. I got "gotten" on August 14, 2022 to the tune of 86 bucks for 8.8 gallons of gas. This station has no signs posting gas prices, in violation of state law. The only prices are obscured behind yellowed plastic on each pump. A couple of miles down the road, I saw properly posted signs offering gas at three dollars less per gallon. Judge for yourself how ethical the owners of this station are. I stopped at the Chevron station in Mendocino, hoping beyond hope that I would find somebody there who would be willing and able to help me out. Rather than do my normal Ft Bragg Chevron, I thought I'm stopping in Mendo first so use that Chevron as it can't be that bad. WRONG! Holy Toledo a gallon of gas was $5.80 for 87 gas! Fort Bragg was $3+. That's insane! And there was no attendant or anything open in that station. I've never seen $5.80! So be warned! I will not stop there again to support local. I'll support the other locals there. I'll head back to Ft Bragg or even Willits for gas. That's too extreme of a jump in price to patrons. I am writing this review in hopes that you do not become the sucker I was. This gas station is not a legitimate business but a TRAP. As mentioned in other reviews gas prices are 200% over traditional market rates. I was a sucker and did not carefully check prices until it was too late. Starving D., I was prepared for Mendocino to be expensive. I knew what my B&B was going to cost in advance, so that was ok. $18 burgers and $10 drinks? Fine, I knew about it ahead of time since the prices were listed on the menu. If it was more than I thought was fair, I could have left, or had fries and a water. I had no issue with this. I pulled into the gas station and there were no signs showing prices, which might be to city ordinances as a sleepy getaway spot so I wasn't suspecting dishonesty. When I started my transaction, the price display wasn't hard to read, it was completely blank (must have been "out of order" after too many 1 gallon top offs) so I figured it got burnt out by being on the sunny side of the un shaded island, and filled up while I washed my windows. I didn't know I had been robbed by these "nice people" until I saw the highest gas total I had ever been charged by over $10, when I had almost a quarter tank. I tried to print a receipt so I had proof of the gouging and guess what? Out of paper, what a coincidence! My point is that I would have gladly paid the price asked for 1 gallon to go on my way had I been able to know in advance. I am glad the repair service was helpful, but this is passively dishonest price gouging. With a little digging on a famous search engine, I was able to file a "fuel price complaint" with the Atty General's office. Not sure which complaint will be more effective, if either. Oh well, made me mad enough to give my first one star, so there's that I guess... It should also be noted that there are 4 additional 1 star reviews from people so ticked off that they created a Yelp! account just to complain. (TBH this is necessary to prevent internet smear campaigns).
