He tells you the way it is and does not sugarcoat anything or try to sell you on something you don't need. He has even sent me to other Great locations When he was not able to do the work. I'm very sad and disappointed after my dealings with Greg at portola chevron. I would recommend extreme caution before taking your vehicle in. I was told by Greg to bring my car in at 7am and was quoted a price by Greg for the work on my car. No work was done (Greg wasn't even there today) and 4 hours later not only was nothing done, but the price had also drastically increased. No communication had taken place between the employees and I felt the process was extremely sketchy. I will never take my car there again and would not recommend anyone else bring their car there for service unless you prefer unprofessional, sketchy business practice. read more

This establishment is a bitter sweet setup. Greg is a very reasonable honest mechanic with great insight on your mechanical decisions. However, the other employees have no idea what customer service is. The register clerk "Michael" seems to be extremely underpaid and very unhappy with his job. He possesses poor communication skills and makes sure that customers leave with a bad taste in their mouths. I would recommend taking your car to this shop. However, if you run across Michael, simply ask for a different representative. He is a terrible representation of the business does not deserve to hold a position of employment within customer service. read more

Has a great experience. Called yesterday to see what the wait was like, to which he told me it was pretty busy but offered me an appointment this morning. There was one person in front if me- took 45 minutes total. Not bad if you ask me! Just go enjoy some Starbucks! I told him in the first place that I know my car needs work but I just want an oil change and he was perfectly understanding to that. $30 bucks and a couple recommendations on my receipt and out the door! My son's car wouldn't start after gassing up at 8:30pm. Fortunately, Sean the mechanic was working late, and he was quickly able to take care of a minor repair to the battery cables. I've been filling propane tanks at this station for over 4 years. Always before, the attendant who filled the tanks would then load them into my car. For the last 2 times I've gone there including today, the guy who does it now won't do any more than is absolutely necessary. Today I loaded the first tank knowing he might not load it, but after the second tank was filled, and I was heading into pay, he started to round the back of the car carrying the tank so I said thank you assuming at least I didn't have to load that one. When I got into my car to back up I bumped into the tank that he had left behind my car. That's it!! I'm a 70 year old woman with back problems and those tanks are heavy when full. I'll be going to the Shell station on La Paz from now on. It's a longer drive but I will no longer give a penny to a place with such horrible customer service!! read more

Thanks to Greg! I am so glad that the AAA guy told me about this auto shop. I was going to drop the car to one of the nearby dealers, but I recommended to this place. My car's alternator was broken and it was 11pm when I got my car towed to this place. They accept 24 hr drop off. And I got a call from the manager Greg at around 10:30 am the next morning saying the car was ready! Super efficient! read more

I would've rather paid someone else or would have done it myself at the detriment of my own time rather than have to go back here and deal with these people. I waited a bit but he was working on a couple other cars that were already there on the car lifts. I don't know too much about this location but frankly I hate all gas stations right now. I try to frequent the less expensive places with the best quality gas. ocgasprices.com is a good place to keep in mind when you think about what location you want to stop at from work. AAA recommend Portola Chevron to have a car smog. The service was great. Greg and the guys were polite, professional, efficient and took car of my Jeep for smog. As a woman, I sometimes feel like I could get the run around on service that needs to be done. They did just what I asked and I was in and out very quickly. I brought my daughter's car back today for a smog and brake inspection. They said they could do the smog in about 15-20 minutes but the brake inspection would take 40 minutes. We didn't have time for that this am so I told them we would come back another day. We came back in 20 minutes. The smog was done and he said he checked the brakes and they were fine. Amazing proactive service that will keep us coming back. :-) read more

After getting quotes of several hundred dollars from nearby auto repair places, I brought it to Portola Chevron, and they fixed it for free and they said it was small wiring adjustment and ten minutes later I was on the road, all fixed. read more

When I was about to check my tires myself, the attendant offered to check my tires and gave me free air. I also asked him about my left turn indicator. He fixed it at a very reasonable fee. Honest and courteous attendant. I have returned to give them more business. read more

I have never had my car serviced here but if their car service is anything like their customer service then they are going to be awesome. Specifically Greg, one of the mechanics, I believe, recently took over an hour to try and help my daughter get her stolen wallet back. My daughter's wallet had been stolen and then left at this station. Greg found it and immediately started trying to reach Chase bank so he could get the wallet back to my daughter. He was great, we got the wallet back thanks to Greg and his efforts in being a great human being, no reward except I hope he knows he gave us a little more faith in humanity after a traumatic event of having your personal property stolen. read more

Just moved to this area and had purchased gas from this location many times and so have our work trucks but I went in yesterday and asked if they would put air in my tires and I proceeded to ask how much to smog one of our diesel trucks, I received the rudest service I have ever received from a worker named Greg. As a business owner I called the manager and explained what happened and turns out it was Greg's daddy and I received the same rudeness from him. I am so disappointed as I was hoping in this small nice community with family ran businesses that the customer service would be important. I have instructed our employees and I will as well, try to give our service to another station that believes there reputation is important as much as possible and I will get our smogs elsewhere as well. For the older gentleman trying to give greg the reason for bringing his van in as greg walked away from him, your not alone sir and I hope you go else where as well. read more
