Everyone seems to have a complaint or a bad story about an experience with an auto mechanic or repair shop, seldom do people talk about the good experiences they do have. I am happy to talk about the experience my family has had with Gregg's. My wife took her car in for an oil change using a Groupon. Upon completing the oil change, Gregg's guys performed an inspection finding various issues that needed to be addressed providing my wife with a very reasonable printed estimate. You would figure this is when the pressure to get the services completed would start, but it didn't. They said thank you for your business and sent her on her way. Fast forward a couple of weeks, my wife called and made an appointment for the repairs. They got her car in quickly and made the repairs without haggling or trying to upsell additional or unnecessary services. Gregg and his guys were professional, honest, and quick. We will be back and will recommend Gregg's Mobil to anyone in need of a recommendation for an auto mechanic. We took our car to Gregg's Mobil in Mission Viejo on July 18 for a routine oil change. We drove in with a perfectly working vehicle, picked it up an hour later, and immediately noticed a strong oil smell. Minutes after leaving, the car became undriveable and stalled -- steering failed, oil was pouring out, and the drive belt was damaged. Tried calling Gregg's repeatedly -- no answer. Employees had left early, even though the shop was still "open" according to their posted hours. No after-hours contact, no help. We had to scramble to find another mechanic and a tow truck. Turns out, the work Gregg's did led to nearly $600 worth of damage: leaking oil all over the engine and breaking the drive belt. We paid out of pocket to fix these issues. When we went back Monday, Jeff the manager was rude, dismissive, and blamed us for not towing our car back to them (which we tried to do). After pressure, they agreed to reimburse the cost of repairs (the least they could do because they were at fault for them) -- but refused to refund the oil change that caused the damage in the first place. So basically, I had the privilege of paying $200 for an oil change that caused $600 worth of damage. Both Gregg and Jeff admitted fault, but still refused full accountability. The experience was frustrating, stressful, and could've been dangerous. Thankfully we live nearby, but if our car had stalled in an intersection or the freeway, this could have been catastrophic. Worst of all, Jeff and Gregg were condescending and extremely apathetic to the situation. Avoid this place unless you want poor workmanship and worse customer service. read more

I went to Gregg's Mobil to get a break fluid flush on my car. About a month later I was driving my car and I noticed that I needed to push on the break all the way down to be able to slow down my car. I had my car towed to another car mechanic because I did not think that my car was safe to drive. This car mechanic fixed the problem by doing the break fluid flush again. He said that the break fluid flush that Gregg's Mobil did was not done correctly. read more

They sell a package deal which includes a few services including a oil changes and other things like. The whole thing is one bog scam. They always find things to charge you for when you go in for the service that you already prepaid for. The most recent is $16 for an oil filter, yes you saw that correctly, i had a prepaid oil change voucher but they charge me an extra $16 for the oil filter. I would highly advise anyone to stay away and watch out for the typical scam about all other other things they find wrong. read more

Gregg's is awesome. I came in with an appointment for oil change because my screen said low engine oil. Gregg asked when it was changed last time. I had no answer and just stared. He searched and actually found the sticker, and told me it did not need an oil change this time. Gregg added oil, saved me $$$ and even fixed my tire pressure for free. Integrity and customer service! 2 characteristics that Gregg's Mobile exemplifies. They've been the go-to mechanic of my family for 20+ years and for good reason. They are very candid and conservative when making repair recommendations. For example, I got an oil change in Santa Monica and they recommended about $1,500 in "urgent repairs" (struts, brake pads/rotors, wheel alignment, air filter replacements). I was suspicious of the validity of their recommendations, so I took it to Gregg's for a 2nd opinion. Rick and the team recommended the wheel alignment (at half the cost of my other estimate) and offered a few pointers of signs that the brakes/struts could need more attention. They are also very focused on creating a good customer experience. From text notifications alerting you to the status of your car, to friendly faces and positive attitudes that greet you. Thieves!!!!!! I had my car towed to this shop (referred by AAA). Jack (I think was his name) was trying to explain the problem my car was having but me not knowing what any of what he was saying meant, I had my friend who is a mechanic talk to the guy to get a better understanding of the problem. Especially because I was given a total of $1200. Once he talks to him my friend called me and said that it was ridiculous how much they tried to rip me off for. The total cost now since I'll be taking it elsewhere is $500. When I called back to Jack became very RUDE after telling him I was basically going to take my car elsewhere. Steam or smoke started coming out from under my hood when I stopped at a traffic light. Based on prior experience and great service, I immediately decided to take the car straight to Gregg's Mobil. Although they were quite busy, they were able to get back to me in a timely manner with a diagnosis of the problem (radiator needed to be replaced) and a competitive price estimate. I was brought to this station using my upside app. Thinking the pricing was at an affordable Low. I was amazed at how off the price was. I was going to fuel up a bit and changed my mind due to the lack of customer service. I didn't even get gas here I was so upset. I thought the customer service was poor. Seemed like the supervisor & employee did not want to be there. I've learned to double check prices before driving to location. So 2 months later. I thought I'd call to confirm price I have on upside app. The employee was clueless. Then said he's w a customer. I asked if I call back in 10min can he please let me know. His answer was "if I have the time". Wow guess they have a consistent flow of regular customers and have No time for new ones. Customer Service does not exist here. Over all review 0-10 (10 being the best) they get 0.01. I'll giv some credit just because the employees show up. read more
