Chevys was a favorite restaurant of mine a while back, but when I recently went I was quite disappointed. I am a vegetarian, so I decided to order a cheese quesadilla with fries. Absolutely the best Tex-Mex I've had in Minnesota! Shrimp and crab enchiladas were delicious!! Hubby thoroughly enjoyed his chili relleno, and the original margarita was as good as I remember! This was my first visit to a Chevy's in about 20 years....there's just not any Chevy's in my hometown....Our server, Elu was very personable, enchanting, and took very good care of us. Don't order the nachos if you are alone and you don't need a main course either. The nachos come out on plate piled high with all kinds of cheese, guac, jalapenos, etc. Really the nachos appetizer plate is a meal for two. And, quite tasty. read more

Sat at the bar a couple of weeks ago and I think I had a bartender named Charles? Hands down one of the best bartenders in town. I asked for a margarita and it was above and beyond. He was so personable and listened to all my stories. He took the time to pause and engage with me and that's truly welcoming. If you have the chance to sit at the bar ask for Charles. read more

Delicious fajita salad with steak made at the table. Nice amount of food, and the server was on top of everything.

We stopped for dinner on our way home from a shopping trip. I love fresh, well prepared mexican and had high hopes. I ordered the Shrimp and Blue Crab enchiladas, sadly the first bite yeiled nothing but cubed potato and corn. I split both enchiladas open and they were stuffed primariliy with potatoes, corn and peppers. I found 2 small shrimp in one enchilada and 1 in the other, as to crab it was basically non existant. Wanted to ad that despite the resturaing nearly empty we were seated at a booth facing a not terribly clean area that was some sort of serving station, can't imagine why they didn't place us at a more appealing booth. read more

When the dinner conversation encapsulated is that Taco Bell is better and more appealing, you know there is a problem. The food is covered in unnecessary sauces to cover for its lack of appeal and quality flavor. Very disappointing meal. read more

Went to Chevys on 09/28/16 with my wife and daughter upon returning from out of town. Had a long wait for service, the expensive guacamole was tasteless and the tortilla soup was cold and unappetizing. I called the restaurant manager, Mojo, the next day to give feedback. He was not available but I gave my name and phone number. A promise was made to call me back but he never did. Very disappointing all around. We will not go back there. David T. read more

First time I've eaten at this restaurant and if we lived here I'd make sure we ate here often! The food was wonderful. The service was great, our waiter was friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable for six of us with drinks it was less than $150! I will definitely be going back. read more

Chevy's is overpriced, seriously I've been to more upscale Mexican restaurants that weren't as expensive. Examples, pajarito and El Jefe. Our server was sweet but slow and forgetful; forgot the soft tortillas with our queso even when reminded her it took about 15mins to get. Didn't get drink refills until close to end of meal and never got a drink menu. Didn't get silverware until about 10 mins after our meals arrived and we mentioned it to the food runners when they dropped the food. Worst part was my $16.99 chicken fajita salad, 90% romaine 10% toppings. Imagine a regular sized chicken breast cut into 1/4-that's how much chicken was on it. I let the server know I was upset that the kitchen would even try to serve it and she agreed, honestly. I asked her to have her manager look and see too because I wanted to order something else and wanted them to know I wasn't just being a "Karen". The bill came with no offer for free desert, nothing comped (could have easily and cheaply comped the pops), no discount, not even an apology. Don't waste your time here, go to one of the aforementioned restaurants. read more

One of my favorite dives. The flautas (and especially the sauce on them) are one of my favorite things ever. Pretty good happy hour specials, and you really can't complain about the free chips and salsa (also great). Let's face it, Chevy's isn't going to win any awards for decor or originality, but HH or a Marg after a mall/IKEA trip? Mayhaps I will! Our waitress Trish was excellent! Attentive, interactive and displayed great attitude. She was knowledgeable to ingredients in menu items when asked. Food was great. Price was up there, but worth it knowing the food is made fresh. Noticed previous reviews stating long waits, we did not experience it at all. Took my kid there one afternoon for lunch. Service was a little slow for how busy they were but the food was pretty decent. Kid friendly. Its a chain place so expect "chain" food and atmosphere. I would maybe go back but I would prefer to try something a little more authentic and not so tex-mex. read more

Chevy's is a brand you might not see too often anymore, especially up in these cold and bitter northern parts of the country. But once upon a time (the 80's) this Southern Californian chain had a major part in influencing many of the "Tex-Mex" concepts that are popular today. Here in Bloomington we are fortunate enough to savor some of that sizzle today. This restaurant offers the best happy hour (or anytime) margarita in town, bar(s) none, I promise you. With a wide varietie of Tequila, trademarked house sour mix you WONT find at the grocery store, the ONLY patio within 2.5 miles of MOA and friendly, knowledgeable bar staff you wont be disappointed. read more

You could go here if you were hungry. Would it be the first place I would go? No. I like the salsa - it's a different chipotle than others I have tried. Other than the salsa the burrito and taco I ordered reminded me of a frozen dinner that you can buy and reheat. If I wanted that I would go to the grocery store and pay $2 instead of $10. Very bland food. Service was a little slow but they were training someone new in so I can understand that. Also tried the watermelon lemonade. I managed to escape the behemoth MOA and hoofed it for a good thirty minutes (I got lost inside MOA - it's a 2 minute walk if you know where you are going!) hoping to find respite in a shitty chain restaurant that was purported to have outdoor seating. Fully aware my plight might end sans redemption I knew I had to attempt the journey for being confined to the terror that is the MOA on a day with temperatures peaking around 70 I would probably intentionally swerve into oncoming traffic on the return home. I arrived to my oasis with said patio, happy hour drinks, and the Muzak station set to classic rock with a playlist containing thus far ccr Bowie and shitty but far preferable to Katy pary Lou reed. And now Cream, Jack Bruce the rock hating but playing it anyway world renowned stick beater. Ever heard of Fela Kuti? Wouldn't say his best work was with Bruce but they make a good combo nonetheless. Just like my server, Andrew and the patio sun. One could rarely feel such peace, as I did, reading my book and listening to decent tunes with the midsummer sun on my back, with cheap drinks and an attentive server to boot. I'm damned sure there are better places in this town. But walking distance from the belly of the beast, respites like this I assure you are few and far between. read more
