The service here is terrible. Went on a Sunday around 5:30 for dinner. My section was a bit busy but had two waitresses. Our server came over within 10mins to ask if we'd like drinks. We said water and we were ready to order. She came over within a few minutes with the complimentary chips and we thought she'd come back with our drinks, but she didn't. She actually gave the table next to us- who was seated after us- their Drinks. She then told us she was getting our water but never came back. All while checking in on surrounding tables mind you. Our food came after 25-30mins and we still didn't have drinks so we asked the woman who brought our food to get it. After telling us she was just helping out , we explained the situation and she promptly brought us water. Half way through our glasses our waitress comes and looks annoyed that someone had brought them to us already and instead of leaving us with those glasses too, takes them away. She never came back to check on us but the manager did and we had to ask for something else and she seemed surprised. We said our waitress hadn't even checked on us. We finally flagged the waitress down after we finished our meals (20mins after to be exact) and asked for a to go box and our check. She brings the box but no check and quickly walks away. We had to flag her down after 10mins and asked for our check again which took another 10mins. This is the first time in my life that I didn't leave a tip. I will never go back here agai. read more

Went and there was no wait to be seated. Once seated i waited 15 minutes for someone to take my order. The manager on duty was very attentive. She sent someone over to my table when you notice i had been waiting for a while. I ordered the street corn on the Cobb which was very delicous although the corn that they are using has very very little corn kernels which made it hard to enjoy. I'm pretty sure whoever is reading this (or I assume) knows what Chevy's is and has been there at least once in their life. However, each location does differ especially with regards to the atmosphere and layout of the restaurant. This particular Chevy's chain is not really much to write home about, but it's not terrible either. I have been to a few different locations, the biggest one being in Times Square. The one in Linden, however, is quite lackluster and mediocre in terms of the atmosphere, food and service. You walk in and enter a restaurant that is mid-sized with generic Mexican themed decor. The slightly harsh, bright overhead lighting does not really add to the whole mood of the place. They have tables and comfortable booths though, so it's good for groups. The one thing at Chevy's that make up for all it's mediocrity are their margaritas. I do recommend that you try something called the Red-Nosed Bulldog which is basically a margarita infused with a bottle of Corona. It's pretty to look at, and it's delicious if you like sweet cocktails. Their other regular margaritas are all really good, albeit sweet, but you can get a good buzz after 2 or 3 of these. They have a wonderful selection of delicious margarita flavors for a fair price, so for that, I give Chevy's a two thumbs up. As soon as you sit down, they give you a free serving of grocery style salsa and chips. For entree, I ordered the shimp and crab quesadilla. It's a generous sized meal, even good enough for 2 people. The tortilla shell alone was a little overcooked/a little oily in my opinion, and it could have used a lot more filler as it didn't seem so sufficient. I could barely taste the shrimp or crab, but mostly the pesto sauce. Otherwise, it was tasty enough to be edible. There are other dishes here that I can recommend, especially if you have a big appetite. Some of their better entrees include the chicken fajitas and fajita burritos. Nonetheless, this is not a bad Chevy's to check out if you just want simple Americanized Mexican food. Coming here with some friends added to the experience, and so then, it was easy to disregard some of the drawbacks that Chevy's may have suffered from. Comparing to the qualities of some other locations I have been to though, this one slightly felt a notch lower. read more

I've ate here a couple times while staying at the Hampton next door. It's not bad, not great either. Average and about what you would expect from a chain Mexican restaurant. Service has been slightly below par all the times I have been here. Wait staff is friendly but seem either understaffed, too busy with other things, or just scatterbrained. I always loved this place when I wasn't vegetarian, and now that I'm vegetarian and don't eat cheese it's very hard to find things on the menu for myself. As usual the greeters were pleasant.. but that's where that ended.. Once seated we were in for a crap time. This place is awful. My girlfriend and I had the salsa quesadilla and I had the choose 3 burrito, flauta, and chile relleno. The amount of salt is tremendous, felt as if I was eating a mound of salt, the spices aren't real Mexican. Of course this is supposed to be Tex-Mex food, but in all honesty, Taco Bell tastes better (even though it's more chemicals and crap). I am Latino and I know Mexican food and other Latin American foods, this by far was the worse eating experience I've had with mock up Mexican food. Save yourself the money or go to a real Mexican restaurant. I have no idea how this place is still in business. No real Mexican spices, too much salt, some taste microwaved, too much water around it. I ordered a Mango Margarita no salt/sugar which hit the spot on this hot & humid day and the Tostado Salad. The description on the menu said the shell was filled with the chicken, romaine, cheese,etc. Nope, that's not how it was presented. The shell was on the side sitting alone and the chicken, cheese, avocado, sour cream is served on the opposite of the plate, outside of the shell. Never experienced this before, did not like the shell. It was small and too doughy The apple-chipotle vinaigrette was OK, nothing to write home about. Rookie service is the reason for this rating. For apps we got the table side guac on some sampler. Guac is real good and worth is but the sampler was a waste. When the apps came we didn't get any plates with it...so we ate and by the time we were finished the waiter came back with plates!! Also we had to wait for chips once the guac was done...just looking at it in anticipation lol. The fajitas were decent and tortillas were real good but yet again had to wait for them while looking at our fajitas sizzling. Four stars for their margaritas. Get the strawberry margarita...grande! The chips that they put on the table are addicting...I usually hog up a whole basket for myself! They will also bring refills...chips are made fresh and are served with dipping sauce. The food is not the best, nor is it the worst. If you love soup (or even if you don't), try the potato tortilla soup. VERY worth trying! A waiter turned me on to the soup and it was delicious! Worth it just for the drinks. Love this place. Food was awesome, the environment and people were so friendly. We were here 2 years ago for Mother's day and had a good time. The waiter who took care of us was friendly and polite. The only issue we had was when it was time to pay for the meal, my husband handed him a certain amount of cash and when we received the change my husband noticed that there was money missing from what he was suppose to get back. My husband spoke to the manager who was very curtious and asked the waiter to come towards where we were. He asked him, where is the rest of the money that was my husband's. He said, oh I thought you said that I can take this as a tip. My husband said, I never told you to take anything! You don't take money from a customer unless it is to pay a bill or a tip that is given to you. Both the manager and waiter apologized. My husband said and now for that you will not get a tip..
