I've been to other locations of this brand and they were good. Nice mix of food options and quick service. First thing I noticed about this one was that the table was sticky. Then I was given dirty silverware. Very... obviously... dirty. I was hoping the food would be as good as expected. I wanted to give a better score. Had the chicken and steak tacos. It took less than two minutes from order to tacos on my table, so I question the "fresh" claim at the door. The chicken tacos were soaking wet. So we ended up here as a last ditch effort before we went and saw a movie in the same complex. I guess if you don't have a lot of Mexican food options, and you haven't ever had anything really good, then this is alright I guess. The service itself isn't bad. Staff was friendly. We were seated very quickly and food came out in a reasonable amount of time as well. However the general quality and overall meal itself was sub par given that you are sitting in a restaurant. I had a chicken burrito with rice and other sides. It wasn't the worst burrito ever, but I would have been happier just going to Chipotle. Rice was bland, refried beans were meh. Overall I just left assuming that people that love this place are either drinking at the same time, or just haven't found any really good Mexican food otherwise. I visited today for happy hour and had the WORST experience ever! Before I go on, let me just say that Chevys is my favorite place to eat late night and I really enjoy their apps. That being said, today I ordered Mexican BBQ wings and flautas. I asked for the flautas to be plain (I'm not a fan of the slaw and mayo that they garnish them with and prefer them dry. The server brought our food to the table and I noticed that my wings were not the right ones. She walked away and returned quickly so I made her aware of the order. She then asked me, "did you already touch them?" I asked her why she would ask such a thing and she rolled her eyes. I asked her if she would reuse the wings? Then she got concerned and took my wings away and said she would bring "new" wings. At that point I lost my appetite! The manager walked around and approached our table to ask how everything was. I let him know what the issue was and he apologized. He insisted that I let him remakes them but at this point I didn't want anything out of that kitchen. Of a server isn't aware of the message they send when they try to cover their mistakes, they don't deserve to be a server. Mistakes happen and I was more than willing to allow them to rectify the mistake... but to ask me if I touched them already can only insinuate that she wanted to "re-use" my wings. As much as I love Chevys, I will not be returning to this location. Lastly, I would like to say that this is not the servers fault alone. Who is watching to make sure that orders are expedited correctly? What are servers being taught to do when they make mistakes? Why would a server feel the need to cover up a minor mistake? It's the first time, I visited a Chevys since and I was pleased. The Chimichanga has changed but still has the taste and crunch to evoke a feeling of nostalgia. We also enjoyed the Five Item combo - gives you a little of everything. The Chile Relleno is delicious. The staff is very friendly and accommodating - it helped that they're all getting ready for fun on Cinco de Mayo. Everyone's in a good mood on May 4. After we saw a movie we headed to grab dinner. Must be our unlucky night because the bartender was not paying attention to us. We ordered finally and our order came out wrong. I was going to go to Dragonfly next door, but decided on this place instead as I love Mexican food. That saying... the food was okay. I ordered nachos with carnitas, and the carnitas were mostly fat. But even before I got my food, my initial impression was not good and I almost walked out before being seated. Many people were waiting when I walked in which was fine and I assumed there was a waiting list, so I approached the host expecting to be greeted and have my name taken down. But this did not happen; even though he WAS calling out party names and slowly seating them, he ignored my presence, and did the same to people who came in after me, until there was a whole group of us very confused. Eventually another staff member came by and started seating people much quicker until I was finally seated... but the entire time, the initial host was saying things under his breath about the second staff member, banging things around including silverware that I watched fall on the floor and be thrown back into the clean bin, and generally seemed annoyed by every customer's presence. Nothing great , nothing terrible. The setting in the place seemed a bit dull and dingier than most Chevy's i have been to. Been here quite a few times now and I am very glad that I have been introduced to this place. I guess it's a chain but this particular Chevys is the only one I've ever been to. I was lucky enough to go here for cinco de mayo, yes it was crazy and loud but we were told an hour wait and were seated in probably 45 minutes. There was music, sombrero hats, and loads and loads of drinks! A girl came around with Jell-O shots too, but I passed. You can't go wrong with their $3 margaritas! They are incredibly tasty! I am basing my two stars on the actual food! I dislike 97% of the items on the menu, even though I only had about 10% of what the menu has to offer. It's probably some of the worst mexican food I have ever had. The chips and salsa that are put on the table are not that great, but somehow you find yourself eating them. When I do order food, I get the bbq quesadillas, which is probably the only tasty appetizer on the menu. Now let's talk about my forte: Margarita's! If I had to rate Chevy's drinks, I would give them four stars. There strawberry margarita's is fabulous and you can get tipsy off of one grande margarita. They have really good bulldog margarita's, especially the red bulldog! Unfortunately I have to revise my former review. Over the past two years since I left my initial review, pretty much everything I liked about this place has changed. Gone is the 3-course price fixe menu, gone are the $3 margaritas, gone is the Latin style music that they used to play. Instead, the house margaritas are now $6, the menu full of oversized dishes with no option to order a smaller portion, and perhaps most annoyingly, an obnoxious bingo/trivia night in the evening where the host insults the people in the bar area to get them to participate in his games. It was so bad that when I was there last time I had to get my food wrapped up to go to escape his shenanigans. Will I go back? Probably, but only since this place is literally a 3 minute drive from my house. But this will no longer be my go to place when I have friends and family in town to visit. read more
