After dropping off my USPS deliveries on weekend morning, I discovered this little cafe about 5 mins away and my boyfriend and I walked there. I was drawn to the two comfy looking armchairs by the window overlooking the street. The ambiance was very cozy, with plants and trendy wallpaper making it look very welcoming and memorable. We loved the breakfast sandwich and the breakfast bowl. We felt the portions are pretty large (though not to the portion of a diner) and so our bellies were full. The coffee was also pretty flavorful and not thin at all. And my boyfriend and I enjoyed the vintage armchairs with a vintage table while people watching, and we felt pretty calm and relaxed until the lunch crowd came in. Overall a nice find. I'd return to do some journaling if I lived closer to the neighborhood!

The Highlights- cozy neighborhood gem, healthy options I'm here all the time and have tired everything from the bowls(the two I posted are my fav) to the pastries to the drinks (ginger lemonade is a fav). Unfortunately I have to report is the second time finding hair in my food I'm hesitant to return Overall Experience: love the health conscious options and friendly employees that take time to get to know those who frequent. Hoping they can reconcile the hair issue

The service here is fast. I ordered a vanilla iced latte and got my drink in less than a minute. I had a cinnamon roll, which was vegan and tasted great. I was super impressed and will be back.

OMG I am going to miss living by this spot. They made living in this area 10x better. I am obsessed with the energy that this space and I wish I could have another one of these places in my next stomping ground. The workers there are so nice and friendly! And the food is even better!! Yes, the coffee is great, but the food is unique and vegan friendly! I hope to visit this place again whenever I am in the area.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon to grab brunch to go with my homegurl who lives around the corner. She raved about how good the food is so I knew I was in for a treat! I was a huge fun of just the aesthetics alone--plants every and soft hues of pink, green, and blue. I so miss indoor dining because I would've loved to have enjoyed my brunch right there. My friend ordered the Goldie Lox sandwich (Smoked Salmon, Pickled Egg, Avocado, Pickled Red Onion, Tomato, Greens, Mustard). I had the Salmon Toast (Smoked Salmon, Pickled Red Onion, Cream Cheese, Dill, Everything Spice, Capers). Mine was so good! I didn't even pause for air while eating. It vanished in under 2 minutes. I didn't want it to end. The dill and capers included in the mix made me so happy! Boy, can't I wait to go back and try everything else on the menu! It took me damn near 10 mins to order because I couldn't decide between a rice bowl or a sandwich. I'm just glad to have a new, cute cafe in Brooklyn to be excited about. Thanks for the hospitality, Chez Alex! See you soon!

A fantastic gem to grab coffee, some delicious pastries or a more filling meal - bonus points for a lot of those options being vegan! My only drawbacks are that there's limited seating, so be prepared that you might not be able to find a spot! FOOD (4/5): Ordered the Seitan Rising breakfast sandwich and a latte with soy milk. The sandwich was pretty good and filling, and a decent price. Love that it wasn't too greasy, as I find vegan meats can get that way. ATMOSPHERE (4/5): Beautiful space with lots of plants and sunlight from large windows in the front. I love that there's both cozy seating options for relaxing and tables if you're looking for serious work (or a more stable place to enjoy your food). STUDYING / WORK (4/5): A great space if you need to get work done! The cafe has free wifi, some outlets, music isn't too loud or distracting, and there's a bathroom available. The tables can be a little too small though if you're looking to work with another friend (aka, there's not much room to fit two laptops).

    Sooo many tasty choices!

I went with two friends so were able to try three different sandwiches and to be honest, they were all just alright. The food: Roast Pork Special- Fried Eggplant, Provolone, Broccoli Rob- The texture of the pork came off a bit dry, the eggplant was good but kinda gets lost in the sandwich so if I literally had it on it's own I would have appreciated it more but who eats fried eggplant by itself? The rob was nice it added a nice crunch but didn't offer that much flavor. Giuseppe Special- Eggplant parm, meatballs, melted mozzarella. I couldn't get over how soggy the bread was. It was like wet paper towel to me. Soggy bread and everything kinda tasting the same made it underwhelming. Nicky Special- It just tasted like salad in between bread. There was so much veg, that was the main thing I remember in that sandwich.

There's a couple of tables in a small store. Above the register there's a menu board resembling a train departures board, cycling through the options (it looks neat, but the printed out menu on your right is a lot more practical). There's a cooler with drinks and salads as you enter on the right. The sandwiches, however, are something special. On my first visit I went with something familiar, the Mean Streets (their Italian sandwich). The bread itself is fantastic (locally baked), and the toppings delicious as well (if I recall correctly the dressings are house made). Pleasantly, they also give you a paper plate with your order, which is a nice touch compared to eating off a wrapper. I enjoyed the first sandwich so much I came back the next day to try the No Sleep Til Gravesend. The sandwich is essentially a hot roast beef sandwich, with a jus on the sandwich reminiscent of a French Dip. Perfect on a cold, rainy day. Overall, 1 of 1 has great (and mostly house made) ingredients and great execution. There's a level of creativity on the menu that you rarely see elsewhere in the city. 1 of 1 is among the best sandwich shops in the city, and a very welcome addition to the area.

The owner has the typical New Yorker vibe--blunt and a fun character overall. It was pretty tasty, but I must say I wasn't as blown away as I'd expected. The sausage sandwich got a bit soggy from all of the marinara (which I wasn't expecting based on the description), so I was less excited about it. It was way too much food for two people. This is not your ordinary New York bodega, this is the shop of General Ock, who sells various sandwiches in his renowned Ocky Way. So what is the Ocky Way? The Ocky Way is not just a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and onions, it is also about presentation and style.
