Steak Au Poivre
Ben L.

I was pretty happy with the meal with the escargot being the highlight. The restaurant handles tour groups quite well, we were in and out in a decent amount of time and the quality of the food was respectable. The location is somewhat hidden but it is located really close to Galleries Lafayette and the Opera. The food: Escargot with herb butter- I really liked this dish a lot and I get extra giddy when I get it served in the shell, it just tastes better. I thought the escargot was nice and tender but that herb butter... http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=YHBRsaFoU1Ho9in4G4jIXw Steak Au Poivre- I thought this dish was nice but coulda been tweaked. The overall flavors were solid but the steak was on the tough side. If the tenderness wasn't an issue I woulda been super happy. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=5f10b3d9DAfviRwFKGy1Cg

This was a nice place for lunch and the atmosphere was relaxing and upscale. The snails were amazing and very well done. I had steak that was also pretty good and the vegetables it came with were delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and great, but as we were leaving there was another waiter (I believe he was a manager) that made a few comments about me and my race that was not really too my liking. In conclusion, don't come here if you are Asian...

This must be the place every Asian tour group visits for dinner. We were the only group around 1830 (I'm using military time since that's what the Europeans use). But shortly after, about four other Asian tour groups came in with about 30 people in each tour group. The place was packed and there were at least 30 people waiting outside. The tour package said this is suppose to be an authentic French cuisine but I'm not sure how accurate that is when they are catering to so many Asians. This was also an optional meal where we had to pay about €30 to €50 per person. For that kind of money I wish I had opted out and chosen my own place to eat. The food just wasn't that good. It was a three course meal that started with a seafood platter, followed by some foie gras salad, choice of steak or lamb, and an apple tart for dessert. The steak and lamb were both very tough; I was barely able to eat them. The fries that came with steak was a bit soggy. The seafood platter just didn't have any flavor. The escargot included with the platter was way too rubbery. I never had escargot before so I'm not sure if they are all like that. I did like the foie gras salad, apple tart, and the wine. Only reason I'm giving a three star is because of the service. The servers were very friendly and accommodating and also spoke some Chinese. They actually know how to say every item on their menu in Chinese.

Great lunch for a great price. Making was a wonderful waiter. Close to main road for ease of getting there but far enough away to be quiet.

Luca was my server and he was very welcoming in hospitable to this weary traveler. I sat on the patio towards the end of the row so I could take in the atmosphere and people watch a bit. Luca Recommended a meal with a mashed potatoes and sausage with French bread and salad and it sounded tasty so I gave it a go! All the flavors went well together; mashed potatoes were well seasoned the sausage had a good flavor, and the salad with the vinaigrette added a crunch in an extra flavor as well. I drank a French hard cider while I gobbled up my meal, which also was new for me and tasted great after I was done my meal. Luke brought me a shot with rum and some other ingredients, including lemon that definitely hit the spot after a good meal.I recommend Brasserie Belanger for anyone near GDN Train Station that enjoys great food and patio dining. Cheers!

The restaurant itself isn't small, but really not big, so it's definitely worthwhile to make a reservation at least a week or so on advance, otherwise you're pushing your luck. Everyone ordered steak frites (2 rump steak, 2 flank) and no one was disappointed. Steaks were cooked to order, although medium here in France is more like medium rare in the States, just be advised. The restaurant itself is lively and fun with lots of chatting, laughing and good times being shared. Desserts were Crème Brûlée and Apple Crumble, neither of which were disappointing. We definitely enjoyed our dinner and would likely return again. This time with a reservation made well in advance.

Throughout our trip from Provence, Basque Country and Paris, I joked that they must hate me for ordering my beef med b/c it was so much tougher compared to our beef. Anyway, it's just different. Our server spoke English fluently and was such a hoot...full of personality & joy. Per his recommendation, we ordered it med-rare b/c it continues cooking table side on the sizzling platter. We ate too much. It's a lot of food to split the cote de boeuf btn two. Comes with very good chubby fries and 3 sauces. TBH, I didn't love the sauces. Luckily we walked 6miles that day and skipped lunch. Started with a garden salad, but sadly we had no room for dessert. Reservations via email. Making a reservation isn't hard but you do need to email them and there's no online booking system. You also have to confirm again 1-2 days before. I understand they are small with a limited number of tables so that's fair and it seemed like everyone showed up even though they don't require a deposit. On a Friday night, it didn't appear there was much chance or walking in although there were like 2 open seats at what would have been a shared table. The menu is small and includes some typical French starters, steaks, 3 non steak entrees, cheeses, and dessert. All steaks come with potatoes, 3 sauces, salad. Service was a highlight. The waiter was personable and funny, had solid recommendations, and made sure leftovers were taken home. Also had a solid wine recommendation after asking some questions. They probably get a lot of people who don't speak French and they had no problem speaking English. The food- ordered a ribeye medium rare. The steak was so so charred on the outside and it almost ruined the whole thing. I really wish they would have charred it way less especially when it was ordered medium rare. There is seared and then there is burnt; this was sadly the latter. The steak itself was fine, honestly nowhere near the best meat I have had but the price is quite reasonable for how much you get. I would say the steak was maybe 6/10 for me, largely due to the cooking. The fries were phenomenal. Definitely a highlight and really tasty and with a great texture. Salad was good, pretty typical. I wanted to like the sauces more but found them just okay. The best by far for me was the blue cheese sauce but even this one I thought the flavors could have popped a little more. Atmosphere was fun, there were a few bigger groups (6-8 which is the biggest they accommodate) but it never got unreasonably loud. Overall I wanted to love it but was a bit disappointed even though the service and fries were both great.

We were so looking forward to the frog legs, onion soup and other delicacies pictured. We got there and the sign was just as it was with the same name -- Au Pied du Sacre Coeur. We should've noticed something was wrong when no one was inside. When the waiter (lone person working along with cook) gave us the menu, my wife and I stared at each other completely confused. The menu looked nothing like the ones on this website and featured Italian food items, like spaghetti, arroz con pollo or mozarella. I asked him about frog legs or the onion soup. He looked confused and just said no. Out of respect for him, we just ordered the charcuterie, which featured stale bread and a few slices of meat taken from my local grocery store in the U.S. Also -- they claimed to not accept any international credit cards. WHAT HAPPENED? Are all these reviews fake? Most likely, they underwent new ownership right when we visited. But new visitors -- please beware. Do not trust any of the reviews before mine. If I was mistaken, please post photos and just tell me that I was part of some elaborate joke to ruin a lunch for me and my wife.

That's not acceptable. The food, however, was. Hence my difficulty in giving one rating. Our 3 dishes tried were indeed solid. Generous servings of seafood in the bouillabaisse, and I have no qualms whatsoever with my cuise de grenouille and foie gras salads. Bread kept us alive. The free Cote du Rhône glass was appreciated for check-in! Our server had his head permanently at a 30 degree angle, staring at his mobile. Tis a shame. But he was friendly ( oh, and easy on the eyes). I liked the quiet location out of the chaotic fray, like up the street, with all its smoking and volume. PS This is lover's type of location. Even the dark end of the small street feels illicit!
