    Trois Recettes en Une
    Austin B.

tl;dr come for the lovely interior design, stay for the scrumptious fois gras; unfortunately, the signature escargot is more likely than not to disappoint During my first visit to France, I was eager to dive into the cuisine -- adventurous delicacies included. That, of course, meant escargot. And among the most popular spots is L'Escargot Montorgueil, an escargot-centric brasserie in operation since 1832. A golden snail stands guard above the yellow-on-black painted sign outside. The traditional decor is charming and unmistakably French. Darkly-painted wooden walls are finished with golden adornments. Timeless chandeliers cast a warm glow across the worn burgandy tables and scarlet velvet half-booths. A garlicky aroma fills the air. Multilingual chatter blends with the bustle of waitstaff, and English-language pop hits hum lightly in the background. I made a reservation to be safe, but I had no trouble snagging a table for weekday lunch. As my first full meal in Paris, I opted for the classics. The Trois Recettes en Une (a sampler of Traditional, Truffle, and Foie Gras escargot) presented the escargot in-shell, creating a fun dining challenge for the uninitiated. Each snail was surprisingly large and slightly chewy. The varieties collectively felt more fragrant than flavorful, and I was left wanting a sprinkle of salt. The parsley-laden traditional-style almost tasted grassy; the foie gras-style was slightly rich but otherwise unassuming. The truffle-style was rich overload -- perfect for a single bombastic bite. The thin toast slices on the side were cold, chewy, and underwhelming. The Cuisses de Grenouilles (frog legs) were equally challenging to eat and similarly underwhelming (not surprising, as they were cooked in the same herb-butter sauce). Only the Escalopes de Foie Gras Poellees (pan-fried foie gras) truly stood out. The enormous steaks of foie gras far outweighed the ditsy triangles of toast that they were served on, and the sweet apple jam perfectly cut an otherwise rich and salty dish. The amateur staff were notably absent throughout the meal; they secluded themselves in the foyer to joke amongst themselves. My solo bill topped $60 (after service charges), and I was left wanting more. If you must visit Montorgueil, don't be surprised to pay a premium for the ambiance and history alone; the food and service will leave something to be desired.

Incredible escargot options. I did the multi options and chose 2 of each flavor. Excellent display. Also enjoyed the frog legs, equally just as excellent.

We went on a local recommendation, and this place truly delivers wonderful Parisian cuisine. From the escargot to the foie gras, which melted in our mouths like butter, every bite was decadent. The scallop dish wasn't my favorite, as I'm not a fan of thyme, but the standout was the seared foie gras atop duck breast -- simply heavenly.

Our first time here and it's was slightly above average. Best thing they had was the foie gras and the escargot. The sea-bass was way over cooked. Ambiance inside the restaurant was nice, only bad thing it was way hotter on the second floor than the rest of the building.

I discovered this restaurant through Instagram Reels, and as someone who grew up eating escargot, I knew I had to try it. I later learned that the restaurant has been open for nearly 200 years! Despite not having a reservation, we only waited about 30 minutes for a table around 5pm. The food was exceptional, and every dish we ordered exceeded expectations. We enjoyed: - The grand degustation (36 escargot with 5 different flavors: traditional, foie gras, black truffle, soft chili, cheese, and walnut). My personal favorites were the foie gras and black truffle. - Bone marrow - Frog legs - Traditional onion soup - Pan fried foie gras If you try anything, make sure it's the escargot--you're in France, after all! I would definitely return.

Overpriced and food is fairly average. Service was also slow. At least I made a reservation and didn't have to wait. You can definitely find better places that are more affordable. The food portion was actually very decent but we found everything to be slightly under seasoned for our taste. Restaurant is beautiful though and has great ambiance.

The birthplace of escargot! If you're obsessed with escargot, this your place! It is incredible! Quick, nice service with unique menu items and "flavors" of escargot. A must visit in Paris!

It's so hard to say the best meal in Paris this trip because the food in this city is amazing but this food was everything you want from a French experience in Paris. My 8 year old is going to have me combing the streets of Chicago looking for frog legs like these. The steaks were unreal and being from Chicago we know a good steak. The service was top notch and the space is moody and beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful last meal on our family trip.

We were recommended this restaurant by a local for escargot - we were not disappointed! We ordered the 36 sampler and also tried the XXL ones. Skip the latter - the size was barely larger than the normal (though still delicious). The seared foie gras was also heavenly - so rich but could eat a plate of it. The French onion soup pastry puff was well done but the soup tasted like a vegetarian broth - completely lacked flavor. Definitely come for the escargot!!

Was expecting more from this place given that it's a super popular restaurant, but I was a bit disappointed by my meal on both the service and food front, especially since it's a pricier spot. I came by for a late lunch with my friend on Saturday around 2:45 and there was a short wait of maybe 10 minutes. Luckily it wasn't too long. There's patio seating as well as indoor seating. Indoors the decoration is very old school, and the servers are dressed up in suits to reflect the more formal dining environment. The menu has plenty of escargot options as well as many classic French dishes. I wanted to try both foie gras and escargot, and L'Escargot happens escargot cooked with foie gras, so I got that ($18 for 6). For my main, I got the lamb shank for $42. First of all, it took a while for the server to stop by our table to take my order, and even longer for the food to arrive. I was starving given the late lunch hour, so that didn't help. When the food finally did arrive, I was surprised to see something other than lamb shank for my main. We asked one of the servers, and she confirmed they had given me the wrong order and took the sweetbread away. It was another 10 minute wait for my lamb shank =/ I also wasn't sure if they had messed up my escargot order, so I was trying to ask someone while waiting for the lamb, but our server was nowhere in sight and it took a couple minutes before we could get his attention. He confirmed that it was the escargot with foie gras, but since I didn't taste any foie gras, I'm not convinced that's what I got. The escargot was underwhelming and bland, and like I mentioned earlier, I didn't taste the foie gras. I had to add salt to each piece to make it more palatable. The lamb shank was better but overall it was just okay. Not worth the $42 I paid for it. When the check came, I was surprised that they charged $10 for a bottle of still water. That was the cherry on top of an already overpriced and unmemorable meal. Our server didn't mention anything about the cost when we ordered the still water. I wish he would have, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten it. I also thought he might take something off for giving me the wrong entree, but to my surprise they charged me for everything.

My date and I absolutely loved this place! Great spot for such a random find, since we never intended on eating here until we realized most of the restaurants were closed on Sunday, and we really wanted to try frog legs before we left Paris. This was the first restaurant that popped up that met our interests, and we couldn't have been happier to discover it. All the servers spoke English, making us feeling comfortable, and they were all very kind & attentive as well. We were seated upstairs, and I'm not sure, but my date and I theorized all the English speaking guests were placed up there. Not that it was an issue, in fact, we were grateful for how private and quiet it was compared to downstairs. The food was mouth-watering, with my personal favorite being the mashed potatoes and my date's being the sweetbread. We like to share our meals, so I got a taste of all kinds of things on the menu, including the frog legs like I hoped for, french onion soup, sea bream, and of course, the famous escargot. We were so impressed that despite our full bellies, we still ordered dessert- a creme brulee & an eclair- both excellent choices to end the evening with. It's crazy that only out of luck did we find this place, because I'd recommend it to everyone wanting to visit Paris.

We were very lucky to get the last "walk-in" table of the night, as we discovered this restaurant while walking around. We shared escargot and frog legs starters, and shared the wonderful Beef Bourguignon, along with a nice bottle of French white wine. For dessert, we shared the Crepe Suzette, which was lit on fire!!! This is a lovely traditional restaurant in a nice neighborhood. We plan to return on a future visit.

We discovered L'Escargot on our last night in Paris via Yelp and Google on a Sunday evening. Many restaurants are closed on Sundays and we wanted to have pan seared foie gras and duck confit before leaving. We took a 20 minute G7 Taxi ride from the MontParnasse area, got in line at about 7:20pm, our party of 3 was seated upstairs around 9:20pm and our food was served by 9:59pm. They are famous for many dishes, namely escargot, but tonight we specifically wanted to try their onion soup, duck confit and of course their pan seared foie gras. We loved the soup and foie gras, but the duck confit not as much. The restaurant is beautifully vintage in a very picturesque neighborhood surrounded by many eateries.

However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. The worst part was the bread in the soup. It tasted stale which ruin the flavor of the soup. I had to finish without the bread. Escargot - Another disappointment. What made escargots special was the garlic butter and herb. Here, there were the herbs, no garlic, and French is famous with their butter but I taste oil but not buttery. Other places I actually get excited dipping the bread into the garlic butter but not here. Pan seared Foie gras - The quality of Foie Gras was definitely there. It's not as well seared as I hope but they managed to cook it through without overcooking it. The size of Foie Gras is kind of scary, it's like a small piece of rib eye steak. With just the onion soup and Foie Gras, I could barely swallow anything. Generous portion.
