I think it's time for an update! My hair has been bleached more times than you can count, and it's been getting bleached REPEATEDLY for the greater part of the last 5 years now. I don't mean a highlight here and there, but like my ENTIRE head has looked like "chicken fat yellow" she calls it (before she colors it and does her cool stuff). The only reason why I'm bragging about this is because my hair is still as healthy as ever from root to tip and it still looks absolutely AMAZING, all thanks to Tina. I would never trust my hair to anyone else but her, especially with how damaging all of this can be. She's taken me from pitch black hair to blonde bombshell, and she's MAINTAINED me as a blonde with her magic balayage and amazing shadowrooting with basically zero damage. I have no idea how she's pulled it off, with how low maintenance of a person I am (aka lazy). It's pretty crazy because I'm definitely not doing anything absurd like a hair mask every week or anything like that, but I have zero split ends, my hair isn't breaking off, and most of my appointments are for trims and toning.. until my roots need lightening up a few times a year. I receive compliments all the time, even though it's been weeks since I've stepped foot in the salon (my bad!), and she's found a way to keep my natural Asian-hair brassiness at bay too. Not to mention, appointments are a breeze to make, as long as you make them ahead of time, and she's also accommodating and flexible if you're nice. Bonus: I trust her so much, I had her do my hair (and all of my girls' hair) for my wedding! So, if you're sketched out about your sensitive, weak hair and are willing to invest the TIME (it definitely takes time on your part) to achieve something new and beautiful, Tina is your girl. read more

This is an updated review. I went to Tina for a balayage and loved the color and had the intention of going to a darker blue black color the following 4-6 months...we discussed it as well after the hair appt. After having colored it a black blue color and waiting 4 days of not washing it and air drying ---all Of the color had washed off completely leaving a green color. I did ask her for her input 2 weeks later and was given a pretty lengthy overview that balayage is meant to stay on with the blonde color and I would Need to grow it out and it would need to be maintained quite a bit and also that any trendy color would fade. I understand fading after 1 month...but after 1 week I was bummed. Had I known that I would need to maintain this much I wouldn't have chosen that method or pay as much as I did. I was very happy until my last visit and unfortunately will not be returning due to the color issues and the amount that I paid. Between the balayage and the toning of the second time around it was upwards of almost $450+ I had to go to another salon to color correct it and they were able to restore it to a natural color. I had to pay $180 to another salon to fix it and will not be returning. Giving her 3 stars bc the initial balayage was beautiful but after returning for another service the color did not last and the overall costs. read more

I love this place! Cynthia does my nails here and I swear by her! She's super clean, takes her time, and has a great personality. I used to get really bad hang nails and ever since she started doing my nails, my nails and skin look great. She also does some awesome nail art. People constantly compliment me on my nails! I also get pedicures done here and she's immensely clean about them. She uses a liner for the tub and ensures all of her stuff is sterile. I come here every three weeks to see her and she's always really accommodating with my schedule. I also get my hair done by Jennifer Sinks. She's sooooo good! I used to just color my hair black and recently I decided to get a balayage. She walked me through the entire process of how to achieve the hair that I want, helped me pick better hair products, and always gives me a nice, manageable(this is key for me) haircut. I know that I can count on her to give me hair advice whenever I need it. My hair looks beautiful and she has helped me feel a lot more confident about myself. I walk out of there feeling like a brand new person when I see her. She is also really flexible with my schedule, which I really appreciate. Overall, I am addicted to this place. I've been getting waxed by Samantha for over 2 years now and I can't explain how happy I am with her results. She's very knowledgeable about all hair removal and esthetics. My brows have always been a mess but she's managed to shaped them in a way it frames my face perfectly! She has showed me how to fill in my brows and made them look better than ever. Her products are also great, PFB has been a lifesaver when it comes to ingrowns. I'm already dark and tan, but when she spray tanned me I was blown away! My tan lasted over 2 weeks, she tells me everything I need to do beforehand. She checked up I me and asked me how my tan was and if I was happy with it. And of course I was!!! It looked very natural and I never turned orange. She's your girl for all your waxing and spray tanning needs! I also get my hair done here by Tina. Let me just say she has transformed my hair! I went from fire engine red to an orchid color and she did amazing. She takes her time, she's very detailed oriented and always makes sure my hair is healthy. I also had her put extensions in and they have been incredible. I get compliments on my hair on a daily bases. She matched my hair to the extensions perfectly you can't tell I have extensions in. I always walk out feeling like a million bucks. Tina makes sure I get exactly what I want every time. Her prices are also very reasonable, especially when it comes to the extensions. She uses Dream Catchers so I know my hair will never break or damage it. I highly recommend her for any of your hair needs! All the girls in the salon are great. I tried to support this neighborhood salon, but I can't give business for disappointing service. I went in to clean up my eyebrows to prepare for vacation, and the first thing I mentioned to the girl was that I have sensitive skin. This kind of heads up was fine with other salons/spas, and I'd walk away unscathed because such professionals would take extra care. However, by the first pull, I knew there was something literally "off." Unfortunately, I now have a noticeable mark above my eye that's still trying to heal. I won't let it ruin my vacation, but it'll be an ugly reminder that it's a big risk to give new establishments a shot. From this experience, I won't be a returning client. The only person available during the time I had free for a cut was Jennifer. She did an excellent job on my first cut and has been my San Diego hair stylist ever since! Al has been my hairdresser for over a year. I lucked out and randomly got him at Floyd's on 9th and Market (he still works there, too) and he has been cutting my hair ever since. I have gotten my hair cut at Chez Rouge Salon by Al whenever he isn't working at Floyd's. Floyd's is literally a block from where I live. Chez Rouge is only 10 minutes away, but compared to a 1 minute walk down the street, it is a bit far. Is it worth it? Let me put it this way: I'd drive down to Tijuana and back if that was the only way I could get my hair cut by Al. Oh and he's the sweetest person, too. I got my haircut a couple weeks ago at Chez Rouge Salon. Its a nice establishment, very chill and relaxing. There's coffee and tea there if you have to wait. The young stylist named Erica cut my hair. I think she did a great job. I'm a dude and am terrible at explaining what I want with my hair.
