My boyfriend and I came here for datenight to experience the magical dining option that recently became available. Overall a really good experience. Only two complaints. My boyfriend was a little disappointed that they had already run out of the creme brule and my mashed potatoes was too much on the salty side. For appetizers we ordered, individually, the escargot and warm goat cheese salad with pumpkin seeds. Both of which were fantastic. His escargot was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned where they weren't gummy or too garlicky. My goat cheese salad was fantastic. An interesting combination that worked well. The entrees consisted of blackened grouper and filet mignon. My boyfriend's grouper was again perfectly seasoned, if not having too much sauce. However it was well evened out with his rice pilaf in terms of flavor. My filet mignon was perfectly cooked to my preferred medium rare with a healthy amount of savory peppercorn sauce. My mashed potatoes were flavorful, if not too salty. However, all in all I enjoyed it. For dessert, we both got the mouse which was supposed to be chocolate and raspberry; however my boyfriend's mousse ended up being just chocolate. I ate his as I was a little underwhelmed with the raspberry flavor, but the mousse had a good texture and just the right amount of sweetness. All in all, it was a pleasant and favorable dinner. We have eaten at chez Vincent before. I personally love French cuisine and, hands down, Chez Vincent is the best I've had in the area. During the recent crisis, we saw a news story about small businesses and the fact that Chez Vincent was doing curbside pickup. So my husband and I resolved to have dinner. I emailed the address on their website and received a fast response. We could order lunch or dinner with enough notice. We had pate du jour, venison and filet au poivre. We had lower expectations because it was takeout, but we were pleasantly surprised. We knew the flavors would be there, but the presentation was too! The filet had such a peppery decadent sauce and the venison! I'm not usually a huge fan, but this was fresh and the sauce complemented perfectly. After checking out the Magical Dining menu, my husband and I decided to stop in for the first time last Friday night. We decided around 6:30pm so we were hoping it wasn't too late to make a reservation. The Magical Dining website made it very to make it online as there was an option to do it from there. We opted for 9:15pm. Upon arriving, the place was pretty busy with nearly almost table full inside and out. There was a private party going on in the lounge side as well. Luckily we had reservations and our host took us to our seats right away. Since we had already studied the menu, we ordered our entire meal when he asked us for drinks. For apps, we got the Escargot and Ahi Tuna. For entrees, we got the Coq Au Vin and Grouper Grand Marnier and for dessert we got the Crème Brulee and the Honeymoon. They brought out some fresh bread and butter with our cocktails. My husband got an Old Fashioned and I got a Martini. Both were made fine. A few minutes later they brought out my Escargot and the Ahi Tuna. Though the snails were really small, they tasted pretty good. They were nice and garlicky, buttery with lots of herbs. No complaints on my end. My husband's Tuna was just ok, but it didn't taste or look fresh. Then our entrees came out. The Coq Au Vin was delicious and perfectly cooked with the meat falling off the bone. The size of the entrée was large too. The mashed potatoes went well with the wine sauce and the vegetables were average. My husband HATED the grouper. He said it tasted horrible and I had to agree. We have NEVER had to send anything back ever in our lives but this was too unbearable. He apologetically asked for the pork tenderloin instead and our server did not bat an eye or make us feel uncomfortable. He apologized to us and quickly brought out the other dish. The pork was definitely better than the fish but my Coq Au Vin was better than the pork. Finally, we were ready for our desserts. The Honeymoon was delicious - nice and light, sweet and creamy, and just the right portion for me. My husband loves Crème Brulee but this one came out too burnt on the top and the inside was very eggy - not custardy and creamy like it should be. So while my husband and I dined together, we had two VERY different experiences when it came to our food choices. I give my food 4 stars but my husband would have given 1 star. Our server deserves 4 stars. I am not sure we would come back, if we did, I most likely would have to go with someone other than my husband as I think he's scarred. read more

Absolutely superb French restaurant in Winter Park!! My mother and I both ordered escargot because it's just simply not something we can share, we have learned. The escargot was excellent and deliciously buttery and garlicky with just the right amount of herbs and seasoning. The French bread was hot, toasty, and delightful with a little smear of butter and dipped into the remnants of the escargot. For lunch, my mother ordered the trout with almonds and she raved about it and how tasty is was. I chose the salmon with a creamy dill sauce and it was divine! Both fish entrees were served with Parmesan potatoes, snap peas and carrots. I had a glass of Sauvignon blanc and it perfectly paired with the escargot and salmon. I read a lot of the reviews before deciding to check out Chez Vincent. Having lived in France for a number of years, I sometimes find myself missing the food, flavor, dessert etc. From the reviews that I have read it's either a hit or miss; in my case it was a hit. I came for magical dining and picked the upgraded option which came with 3 different wines perfectly paired with each course. My only criticism is that I wish all 3 wines were French. To start I chose the escargot with parsley, garlic and butter sauce which was paired a white wine. The escargots were very tasty and well balanced with the garlic and butter sauce. My entree was the lamb shank which paired with a red wine. The lamb was so tender that it came off the bone effortlessly. It also came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Dessert was a creme brulee paired with a white italian wine. Honestly you can't go wrong with a creme brulee. My whole experience was very positive, the waiter was great and made great suggestions. First of all the service was impeccable, attentive, but not hovering. We started with escargot, I'm a sucker for good escargot. This was no exception, great absolutely great. I have been lucky enough to visit Chez Vincent on several occasions. Everytime has been a wonderful experience. From the adorable surrounding town of Winter Park, to the lovely ambience inside the establishment, the experience begins with a bang before the first bite. Oh, but once you sink into the first bite of the cream of mushroom soup, you'll know the food is going to exceed the ambience. Our waiter gave us a perfect recommendation from the wine list, and the only hard part now was choosing from diverse menu that all looked delicious. My first visit, I settled on the rack of lambs and the only regret I had was that I couldn't eat a second entree. Luckily, I came back. Went with the more simple burger, and even that blew me away. I love when the owner of a restaurant floats around to tables to make sure his guests are satisfied, and that was the case here. What a lovely man! Humorous, friendly and clearly cares about the experience of his guests. We ended up staying for hours and never felt rushed even after we lost track of time and stayed after they closed. The bartender was very knowledgeable and very honest, she told us the fish dishes often come in frozen but the meat dishes come in fresh everyday. Which we should have seen as foreshadowing, but didn't. The bread came out first and it was ok, not fresh. We got the escargot and calamari as appetizers. They were amazing! We got a second batch of bread, but this one was ice in the center. We ate around that because we didn't want to be a bother. Eventually, we asked if there were any fresh loaves. The waitress took our bread back, put it in the toaster, and brought it back. Next was the soup. We each got the mushroom soup. Again, very good. We ordered our entrees. They were out of the salmon, so I got the pork and my dad got the duck. When they came, they were lukewarm at best! The potatoes and veggies were ice cold. We asked to speak to the chef/manager/owner. He came out, apologized, said they were not cold, and then said... and I quote , "we get frozen from publix". They then gave us the food menu and neglected to provide the full wine/food book, which we then borrowed from our neighboring table who soon after gave up their seats and walked out due to receiving no service. The waiter forgot to bring out the wine for the main course and disappeared until I was done eating. What I love about this place is the authenticity. The staff are French (or are really good at accents) and the food was good. My friend and I came for Magical Dining. I don't know too much about the French cuisine, but I always get the escargot. I also had the Grouper with Gran Marnier sauce and Bavarois. I didn't leave a drop of sauce on the plate. There were several disappointing things about this restaurant. - they were out of all of the burgers - they have no kids menu. Fine, but don't offer "French fries" that are actually just roasted potato wedges. We would have just passed had we known they were not actually french fry style. - the food was generally low quality and bland. Watery and bland chicken Caesar salad (one even came with a black hair in it), goat cheese salad not properly mixed/dressed, the pasta entree dish was served over flowing in an appetizer size bowl with sauce the consistency of water, bread was hard as a rock -zero water refills the entire meal - they added over a 20 percent tip to the bill without disclosing. On the upside, the streak was noted as tasty as well as the chicken crepe. Overall would not dine here again. The price is high and quality is low. I would also note that there is no Sunday brunch menu. The website for Hannibal's lounge which appears to be part of Chez Vincent advertises one and there are several common menu items between the two but Chez Vincent does not have any of the egg or other breakfast type brunch dishes. Some girlfriends and I went to Chez Vincent for the first time last Friday and it was amazing! I got the Degustation, which is a plate of all of the meats with coordinating sauces and the most delicious Parmesan mashed potato's. This included filet, venison, lamb, pork and chicken. For us, Chez Vincent is like a little trip back to the neighborhood restaurant we always ate at in France. The service is amazing, professional, anticipating every need, offering tastes of the wines by the glass, just perfect. The fact that our waiter handled the nearby table of French patrons (an endorsement in itself) fluently in French, then switched to us with no detectable accent was impressive. The food is completely authentic. The house made pate is served just as it should be, with mustard and cornichons. My escargot was perfect--tender and just the right amount of garlic butter (which is to say, a lot!) I had the corvina in caper butter, a lunch special, and it was perfectly pan seared and then finished in the oven. Food prices at lunch are reasonable for the quality, and there are many decent wine prices as well. My only complaint was that several of the wines I tried to order were unavailable; it's time to update the very extensive list to reflect reality. We came for Magical Dining. We walked in and we're somewhat greeted. They don't seem to have a host stand so you kind of just stand there waiting for the servers to locate a table for you to sit at. There were only 2 other tables occupied but this seemed to be a pretty daunting task. It's very unorganized. The server we had was charming and on top of it. We were glad not to get the person who sat us because he had zero personality. We had the French onion soup and escargot. The soup was just like any other French onion. Nothing really spectacular there. We also had the grouper, lamb shank and pork tenderloin. All were very good. We loved the sauce on each of these plates. For these, we would go back. However the plates were all chipped but one. That made the experience feel lackluster. We did mention to the server about it because it looked bad. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I was very disappointed with my dining experience. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner because he's been wanting to try out some French restaurants in the area, he's also a culinary student who is very knowledgeable about food quality and restaurants. I made a reservation for us 3 days prior, and when we arrived the table that was reserved for us was in front of the door next to the host stand. Luckily, they weren't very busy and let us pick another table. There appeared to be only on guy working the front of house, which would've been fine, but he appeared overwhelmed with 4 tables. We ordered our appetizers - mussels in a white wine cream sauce, escargot, and mushroom soup. Those all came out fine, aside from the server mixing up who got which appetizer which is no biggie. The mussels were perfectly cooked, but lacked acidity. The escargot and mushroom soup were GREAT! Sadly, it was all downhill from there... We were advised that if we wanted to order the soufflé for dessert, to order it ahead of time because it took 30 minutes to make so we ordered it when we got our entrees. While we were waiting for our food my boyfriend noticed one of the cooks walk out of the kitchen in a tank top and apron, we were shocked. One would expect the cooks in a "fine dining" establishment like this was supposed to be to wearing a chefs coat or at the very least a t shirt... anyways, for our entrees, we both ordered the lamb with blue cheese sauce and veggies. The server forgot to bring us the salads that were supposed to be included with our entrees. The plating was so boring and half assed. The lamb had no sear on it, but even without it would've been much better without that blue cheese sauce. There was way too much sauce and it was so strong that it overpowered the lamb. The mashed potatoes tasted good but they were super dense. Once we managed to finish our entrees, the soufflés came out and I wish I had taken pictures of the atrocity... it appeared to be cooked on the outside but once we went in for the first spoonful we realized that only the outside was cooked and the inside was basically a chocolatey soup. We waited for a little bit to see if our waiter would come check on us, but my boyfriend ended up flagging him down. Being the culinary expert my boyfriend is, he KNOWS what soufflé is supposed to be like, but because we are non confrontational people he asked "is the soufflé supposed to be this runny in the center?" the waiter looked at us like we were stupid and said "well it is supposed to be a little soft in the center, but we can cook it longer to your preference if you'd like" we politely declined, but were so dumbfounded. Our server acted like we were in the wrong, saying it's supposed to be "a little soft" as he watched me drink my soufflé. The mashed potatoes and my mushroom soup were more dense... it's a shame that I had such high expectations. I would not recommend this place to anybody sadly. My boyfriend and I both work in restaurants and know what it's like to get a bad reviews when it's not deserved and we do everything in our power to address our guests' concerns. One star is for the escargot. Zero stars for everything else, especially the service. After we got our main dish, we didn't see the server at all. Not one time did he check to see how our food was. My husband's lamb burger was over done. There was supposed to be blue cheese inside the burger, which was unnoticeable. My steak was under done, I ordered medium rare and got rare. I gave them a benefit of doubt since they looked short staffed. The waiter had to wait tables and work at the bar. I get that, but it takes maybe 30 seconds to say "how was your meal?" After about 30 minutes after we finished our main entrees, he swung by to pick up the plates, my husband tried to tell him about the burger being overdone, he didn't even hear us, because he picked the plates up so fast without even stopping to see if everything was okay. My husband mentioned it was my birthday and asked if they did anything special, they said they can add something to our dessert, but of course they forgot. The kicker was, after we finished dessert, we waited another 30 minutes, it took so long that my husband had to walk over to the bar to get the bill. I have been in this restaurant a few times but never check in with Yelp. I was so looking forward trying the "Magical Dining" menu. What a disappointment. It didn't represent the quality of the food I was used to get in this restaurant. I went with my family. My husband and I ordered from the Magical Dining menu, and for my kid, she ordered from the regular menu - my favorite dish Duck Breast. For first course, we had Cesar salad, green salad and the french onion soup. They were just ok. For main entry, all the dished ordered look exactly the same, except the menu item came with mashed potatoes. The protein (fish -think was grouper, salmon and duck) were all completely covered with this yucky sauce. You could barely see it. I kept telling my husband, these sauces look exactly the same and to me, they tasted exactly the same like some sort of sweet and sour sauce. The yellow rice that came with it, was just throw on the table with some mystery cabbage and about 5 tiny greens beans that were completely overcook. My salmon was extremely overcooked, dry, and burned - not poached as it said and very hard. So the bad cooking process was camouflage - of course - by the sauce. When I saw the dished after waiting a considerably amount of time, I really wanted to walk out but we were starving. After finishing the meals, I asked the server to bring the menu back as I wanted to compare the name of the sauces used especially in the duck. Again, as I said, I had this dish before and that was not the sauce used neither the protein was swimming in sauce (so un French). The waiters (yes, 3 of them) were scrambling and trying to tell me that is the sauce they always used. Excuse me, but not really. They could not even explained what was in the sauce. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate cake and the creme brulee. The chocolate cake was a super thinly slice piece of normal cake that tasted like supermarket bought (my apologies to the supermarkets) and super dry. I am going to assume they precut these pieces and let it sit until they were ordered. The creme brulee is supposed to be cold under the sugary melted crust. It was warm and eggy taste. I will recommend the Executive Chef, if you want to be part of the magical dining, remember, people come to taste your menu. A good impression will bring customers back. I ended up paying over $150 and considered one of the worst meals this year. The best I have of this experience was their take on the Moscow Mule drink. ;) The staff was friendly, but that doesn't make a patron a repeated customer. I got to say, this is the first time I entered such a bad review and I should have been more careful reading the recent reviews before we choose to come back. I hope the owner and chef take these reviews seriously and bring back the Chez Vicent restaurant I loved. read more

I really love this restaurant, but I adore walking around and shopping in Winter Park. It reminds me a little of a small copy of the Back Bay Neighborhood in Boston. There are several restaurant establishments, coffee shops, Mexican and Italian, Cuban Cafe, the usual and Chez Vincent is one of my favorites. Everything I have had has been excellent. Their crepes and escargot, fish dishes and sides are all delicious and beautifully prepared. The staff, they are pleasant, bar is great, everyone is accommodating. The building is neat. I really don't get this place. I've eaten here several times at the invite of friends/family, most recently this evening, and each time the quality of the food and consistency of cooking seems really inconsistent. This evening I had a mussels as an appetizer and swiss-stuffed burger and fries. The mussels were comically over-cooked - like tiny dehydrated nuggets of leather on the half shell. The burger was good, but the fries were strange - they were lightly sautéed slices of raw potato, dusted with herbs. I also tried some other dishes at the table. The filet mignon looked like a subpar cut of meat and tasted fatty. The blackened trout wasn't blackened and tasted bland and like it was likely a low quality filet from a grocery store. The setting is nice enough and service has always been acceptable, but the food doesn't inspire me to want to return. For a similar price there is much better quality food cooked reliably better elsewhere. read more

My husband and I visited this charming restaurant on a recent trip to Orlando. We were looking for a quaint French restaurant that was not prohibitively expensive - and we were not disappointed. Our table was situated outdoors, reminiscent of the typical outside seating in France, right in front of the vintage, red Peugeot! The service was impeccable, and we had a lovely post meal conversation with the chef, Vincent. Went for magical dining. The food and the ambiance in the bar area was much better than my last visit. Food:delicious. Service: impeccable. The only downside was the loud piano. We had to move to a table far away from the piano. Why is it amplified? It's too too loud. I noticed everybody had to stop conversations because they were interrupted by the piano guy. And his singing voice and choice of oldies from the 80's, just didn't fit right. Either play piano background music, without singing and amplification, or skip the live music altogether. We will come back again on a night when there's no loud piano and singing entertainment. read more

Visiting Orlando from South Georgia for the LSU/FSU football game and also celebrating our 31st anniversary. Food was absolutely amazing, my wife was very impressed. Her filet mignon was so tender she could cut it with her fork. I had the salmon with raspberry sauce and it was delicious. Server was prompt and attentive. I wonder if sites like Yelp should start not posting their reviews if they hide their true identity? Or make us pay to leave a review? Anyways, here is an honest review - We've eaten here three or four times and we've liked it a lot every time. It takes a little longer than most restaurants but if you enjoy the company you're with that should be a plus. The food is French, they're not super friendly and the food is very good but it's not the best in the world. You're still eating some French food in Central Florida so that alone is a wonderful thing to be thankful for. I think maybe people get upset because they come here for a super special occasion and they expect too much. Then, if one napkin is crooked or one server is condescending, they hop on yelp and vent a year's worth of disappointment. It's a great restaurant for dinner but it won't be your best night out of the year. Maybe we should take it a little easier on any restaurant that just survived the Covid pandemic. Supplies are hard to get, good employees and enough employees are very hard to find and it's been stressful for everyone. read more
