From the chandelier in the front dining room to the spiderweb window-topped accordion glass doors that open into outdoor seating to the unique illustrations upon the tabletops, you'll feel as though you've stepped into a Paris bistro in the heart of Stamford. Mon Dieu! The warm goat cheese salad! I swore I wasn't going to eat it all, but somehow I emptied my plate. I added chicken and the meat was juicy and savory. The sour cherry vinaigrette was a lovely way to dress the toasted almond shavings and greens. The Montrachet melted in my mouth. The service was attentive and cordial. I felt bad they couldn't coax dessert because I've had their crème brûlée on another occasion and it was heavenly. C'est magnifique, Chez Vous! I must write about them even they are closed. They are our go-to French restaurant in town. Hope they will re-open after the horrible fire. We miss the place, Rudy and the chef. The poor staff in this place is so overworked. They are running from table to table, opening bottles of wine and not getting orders from the people who've come before. it took them three times to come to our table in order to finally get the entire drink order. Twice for our food order. I had the mushroom risotto, which was very bland, but the winners were the escargot, the shepherds, pie, and the lentils. If you order a bottle of wine, it seems you get faster attention. Are used to come here years ago, but I think it's under new ownership. Not sure I will definitely try it again. It is very convenient to the Avon theater. It is quite loud, but for many that would add to the festive environment. Not good for older people who have hearing issues! I must say that I thought the tableware, and the dishware was very attractive. The cargo was cooked to perfection. It is a reason to come there if that's one of your favorites. read more

Came here for dinner on a Friday evening. We really enjoyed the French onion soup. Service is friendly and the chef/owner stops by every table to check in and make recs. We also tried the duck and two other entrees. We were too full for dessert but this place is charming if you're looking for French cuisine. read more

All these years in CT and my very first attempt at Chez Vous. There is not a single dish I would not order again. Ratatouille with crunchier veggies compared to my habits, enhanced white spices that may it a great experience. The escargots (snail) are amazing. The chef makes you wait, it is for a good reason: this is the real deal, when you use the very last piece of bread to dip in the caquelon. Steak, sole meuniere, duck confit, osso bucco, all of them are cooked the right way. And the desserts could come from the best local patisserie...just talk to the chef, listen to his explanations, his recipes. Great service, pretty quiet ambiance with an older crowd and the classic french dinner dishes are good. The French onion soup is excellent and the pate and Moules Frites are solid! One tip: Watch out for the Benedict dishes. I ordered the Eggs Florentine today and am still feeling sick 5 hours later. It was largest portion I have ever seen, felt very American on two big slices of standard white bread with poached eggs the size of softballs. Most of the plate was covered with hollandaise sauce. Not what the photos from other reviews showed. I should've sent it back but it was Florentine so I tried it. Wish I hadn't! I know raw eggs are a risk and hard to gauge, so my fault for ordering it. The service was impeccable. Our server/bartender Rudy was awesome. I started with a nice glass of Joliesse Vineyards, CA, 2019 Cabernet while waiting for my friends at the bar. Once seated and my friends arrived we ordered the herbes de provence potato croquettes. They were good, just lacked a bit a salt. The order was on the smaller side, 3 pieces. Enough for one each in my party. lol. For my main course I ordered the wild mushroom risotto and added shrimp. (I could have done without the shrimp, they were large and very grilled) the meal was hearty and creamy. For dessert I ordered the crepes suzette, which was flambéd with a side of vanilla gelato and an espresso martini. I had to give this restaurant 4 stars because the meal in itself was just, good. Nothing over the top for me honestly. But the drinks were tasty and the service was very pleasant. read more

Chez Vous is one of my favorite restaurants in the world... I have been to six of the seven continents multiple times and Chez Vous definitely tops my list! It is in a rarified group of my few favorites in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Warsaw, Poland and Manchester, Vermont. I have been to many wonderful restaurants, but those 4 are the best! Chez Vous owner and Executive Chef Erich Erichson is not only Charming, he is an epicurean master! After the waiter corrected the receipt to $130, they continued to charge me $135 in my card. How can a waiter alter an a gratuity amount that a customer authorized from $17.28 to $22.28. I was lucky enough to dine here for brunch and dinner recently and I'm very happy to share the good news. Amazing by Stamford standards, and not bad objectively... When you're in Stamford, you'll pretty much take anything you can get - "meh" pretty much defines the local cuisine. In this sea of mediocrity, Chez Vous stands out pretty strong - it is, by far, the best you're going to do vis-a-vis French-fare in this 'hood. Mind you, that's not saying much. I was invited to a private Christmas Party. Did not get a chance to see the menu because it was a prix-fixe. The food was excellent, from soup to dessert. The party started with hors d' oeuvres (Gougeres Cheese Puffs) floating around. - amazing. The service was flawless. The place is cozy. I'm still dreaming of the Foie Gras. Chez Vous probably deserves 3.5 stars, but with the half star as a non-option, I'll have to knock down my rating. The food was hit or miss. The stuff that was decent was just decent and the stuff that wowed actually deserved to be praised. For starters, a friend and I split the country pate [$12]. The pate wasn't bad, but also wasn't amazing enough to write home about. Served alongside it were toasted (yes!) baguette slices, sweet pickled red onions and some greens. These provided some much appreciated textural and flavor contrast with every bite. For our mains: Spinach and Goat Cheese Quiche (3/5) [$16] : This was TINY. I was so disappointed by the size of my quiche. It's supposed to be an entree yet what I was served looked more like an app. It couldn't have been any larger than 4" in diameter and it was shallow too!!! Worst of all is that the quiche was more spinach than egg or goat cheese. I might have had a few crumbles of goat cheese on top of my two-bite quiche. It really was that small and it really was lacking. Chicken Vol Au Vent (4/5) [$18]: This was more reasonable in terms of pricing. The creamy concoction was chock full of carrot, celery and beautifully sautéed mushrooms. Inhaling the fragrance of the mushroom gravy almost left me lightheaded. I wanted to dive right into the ramekin. Perched atop the the piping hot mixture was a golden square of puff pastry, whose flakiness made for the perfect accompaniment to the chicken gravy. If I were asked what my ideal rainy day comfort food would be, Chicken Vol Au Vent would be it. Overall, Chez Vous is a really adorable place with small window-side tables and a homey atmosphere. We love this French restaurant that we have returned to more often than other restaurants we like. It was just a little hot while we were dining even though all the door-partitions were open. Brought my family for dinner there last night. As always Chef Erik did not disappoint! Everything from appetizers to dessert was wonderfully delicious. The burrata was melt in your mouth delicious accompanied by the fresh vine ripened tomato. My favorite which I order all the time, escargot ala Bourgignonne was tender and perfectly seasoned. I could have had this for dinner with tons of bread to sop up all the parsley butter. I had the Moules Marinieres and I was in heaven! My husband had the Duck Confit with rhubarb sauce crispy on the outside and wonderfully moist and tender inside. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the Chicken Milanese or the deserts. We had the Dark chocolate mousse, Tiramisu du Chef and crepes Suzette. I think we all gained 10-20 pounds eating all these deliciousness. It's probably a blessing that we live far enough that it would be impossible for us to go every weekend! But it's also unfortunate that we can only sample such heavenly food once or twice a year read more

Cozy French bistro. We came for a late lunch, just an hour before they closed for the afternoon. It was on a warmer spring day and the restaurant was an open setting/atmosphere, the dining room was very airy. They played great selection of French songs too and the pace was slower and relaxing here, encouraging you to enjoy yourself. You absolutely will not feel rushed here. Both the server and the busser were very attentive to us. Our water was never empty. Chef Erik Erlichson (the owner himself) took care of all order in the kitchen, and everything came out incredible. We ordered the prix-fixe lunch for $15, which comes with one entree and the option of either red/white wine or appetizer. We got Twisted Pasta with Spinach and Mushrooms and La Soupe du Jour was root vegetable soup (olive oil, garlic, mirepoix, potato, vegetable stock and seasoning). Seriously, very tasty. We also ordered the French Onion soup (amazing) and Le Petit New York Steak was also good but a little bit dry, and came medium even though we requested medium rare. For drinks we ordered Bleu Rose and Charentes Sour. Both were good as well but on a lighter side. Cocktails are $12 each. By the way the French white bean hummus that comes with the complimentary bread was out of this world also! Portion was very filling, we were too full to order desserts. Had dinner here this week. It was an okay experience - food was so-so but service was good. Of the dishes we ordered, the moules marinere and French fries was excellent. The escargot appetizer was way, way too salty. The duck confit was extremely dry. The hamburger was good but came decomposed in various parts (my husband had been expecting a burger he could bite straight into). On the flip side, service was excellent. The restaurant took full precautions to social distance with limited seating, outside dining, and provided hand sanitizer. Staff wore masks at all times. They played Spanish/salsa music at the beginning but as the evening wore on thankfully swapped to more suitable music for a French restaurant. read more

Amazing cozy French restaurant! The chef and waiters are all very knowledgeable and know what pairs with what - drinks were great. They were also friendly and the who vibe was very inviting and cozy. I got the burger and it was probable one of the best burgers I've had in a while. I would highly recommend coming here anytime - whether for a relaxing Sunday afternoon lunch, a weekend date, or sitting at the bar on a weeknight for a meal and great drinks. This place is a hidden French gem! The better half and I are up here for a medical procedure, so we needed a "to go" order on a Sunday for lunch. Called in advance to make sure that was possible (yes!). When I came in an hour later, they recognized my voice, and helped me place my order while I waited at the bar and had a good strong drink. The head chef and also the owner both were working the front, and came over to speak with me. We had a great conversation that made me feel very welcome! They are friendly and great people! The food was great! We had the French onion soup, an order of shrimp scampi and a custom charcuterie board to go! It was fantastic!
