On a corner off Bedford Street is a cozy French bistro which makes you feel you are sitting inside a French Restaurant off the Champs Elysees. The restaurant has a small outdoor patio that leads right into the indoor dining area which provides that outdoor feeling throughout the restaurant. We chose to have Brunch Menu which had some of my favorite French delights. We started with the French Onion Soup which was outstanding, then moved to the Spinach with Goat Cheese omelet which we loved. The side French fries was awesome, especially the side jalapeno dipping sauce. Meanwhile I became addicted to their coffee. After three cups, the owner Eric asked me if I wanted another cup of coffee. I could not resist. The owner Chef Eric and I enjoyed a short conversation about other dishes; such as the French Shepherd's Pie or as Eric called it Hachis Paramentier. First time coming here! Everything was delicious! My boyfriend & I both had the wild shrimp Benedict. Shrimp tasted so fresh. Everything was so filling. The side mixed greens were fresh as well. Afterwards, we had the Frangelico Cheesecake. Very good!! The service was great! Ambiance was good too. I would definitely return again! This place is not consistent. Today the duck confit and the snails were very good. However the pepper steak was very disappointing. The steak was a well cooked and attractively presented rare piece of meat. Sadly, instead of accenting the dish, the "pepper sauce" spoiled the flavor. Instead of finding evidence of butter, shallots, crushed peppers and perhaps cognac, what I found was sludge. Ruined the steak and instead of using bread to mop up every last drop, I pushed the plate away. Chez Vous could always be relied upon for delicious butter and french bread. I feel as though I need to be generous in this review because I enjoyed everything about both of my dining experiences so much, despite how different each experience was. Yesterday I popped in on a whim because the weather was nice and I needed lunch. I ordered to go and had the pate sandwich with a side salad and the mussel bisque. Everything was delicious. The pate was savory and filling, the cornichons it came with were crunchy (not soggy, which is something I hate in anything pickled), the mustard was sharp and mildly spicy, and the salad was killer. Despite being simple greens, the house-made vinaigrette made the dish. The soup was delicious also; not too salty, not too "oceany" - perfectly balanced, creamy, and generous with the mussels. Some of my coworkers saw me plating my meal and curiously asked me where I had ordered from and it sparked quite the conversation about French food and dining. Today I decided to dine in; it's overcast and a bit gloomy so I wanted to catch up on my media and take a breather. The waiter and maître d' were both attentive and respondent but were not "hovering" or otherwise smothering. I appreciate that, as dining alone is my time to enjoy a good meal and have some time to myself. The complimentary bread they served was delicious. Lightly toasted and served with a delicious Moroccan spiced hummus that I would absolutely eat all by itself. The pate appetizer was extremely generously portioned and was priced quite fairly. It came with pate, cornichons, toast, mustard, onion confit, and salad. I ate every bite and it was delicious. For my main I ordered a croque madame and only ate 1/3 of it before boxing the rest to go; my eyes were larger than my stomach! That being said, it was cooked perfectly, the cheese was generous, the sauce was generous, the egg was cooked perfectly, and again - the side salad was delicious and suited the indulgent sandwich quite nicely. I've been here twice now. The food is very good! First time I got the duck confit and we tried the escargot. The duck was made very well. I thought the purple cabbage with bacon that was served with the duck was just okay. I wasn't a big fan of the escargot but I think that's just because I don't really love escargot. This was actually my first time trying it. Second time I got the French onion soup- delicious and comforting as it was a little chilly that night sitting outside so it was perfect! And as my main course I got the steak au poivue. I only ordered the steak because the two specials I was looking at both at just sold out for the night! It was late so totally understandable! But I would've loved to have tried the bouillabaisse or mussels with frites. Maybe they will be on the menu again! But the steak was cooked to my liking- medium rare. Went there for CT restaurant week to try it out...limited menu which is OK for the week...food was meh and super small portions. Worst part was the waiter...really rude and non-attentive and no kids menu...at least that is what we were told. waiter forgot part of a dish and when asked he challenged that it was included until he checked...again poor service. The menu that was posted on line was different than the one we were given. I ordered a pasta dish and they gave me a portion that was maybe 2 oz...miniscule at best...will not be going back!!! read more

This spot is legit when it comes to french food. I love the Partners that run this place, great wine pairs with tremendous food. The escargot is comparable to what you will find in Paris. I've been a customer since they opened. Been there a few times and I know the owner who also runs a furniture store next door, where we buy frames. The most recent visit was this morning and was a belated Valentine's brunch. It was a disaster from the get go. I arrived with my wife and the Maitre d didn't acknowledge us. A busboy came over and inquired about us and directed us to a table. The Maitre d stopped him, asked the party behind us to see if THEY wanted a table and lets us pass. Once seated he never comes over to greet us and give us any menus. The busboy brought menus. After fawning over other guests, the Maitre d casually comes over and says "do you know what you want yet?" We ordered and waited for the food. Two eggs Benedict, coffee and a mimosa - that's our standard brunch fare here and they have very good eggs Benedict. Throughout the meal the guy ignores us again and our water and coffee is never filled. Couldn't get his attention at all because he is 'busy' with other guests. We had to request everything from the busboy and even the lovely and friendly chef, when he came out to talk to a French couple seated next to us. By this point my wife is very unhappy at the way I'm being treated and we skip dessert and request the check, to the busboy of course. The Maitre d comes over after a few minutes and says "Do you want dessert? If you do I'll bring you a menu". We request the check - again. Another 5 mins later the check arrives. 10 mins later he takes it back and finally we're done. Very disappointed at the treatment. There is only one reason I can think of - the Maitre d is a racist prick. If the owner is reading this, please note - your Maitre d is a racist prick. If the Maitre d is reading this - you are a racist prick. No customer should be treated this way ever period. read more

We really love Chez Bistro! Every time we have ever gone about 5 times we have truly enjoyed our whole experience from beginning to end. Tonight was NO different! All four of us had different entrees and appetizers and desserts. OMG, it was like the last supper meal! Delightful! And the Southern Tea cocktail Rebel enjoyed before dinner was a lovely refreshing treat, too. My favorite dessert is the floating island. Sweet Baby Jesus, soooooo bloody good! The staff are pleasant and proficient and have excellent suggestions to help your dining moment. I appreciate the location being down on The Ave what I call the downtown Bedford Street. I'm a local Stamford resident and frequently dine at Chez Vous. Chef Erik does an amazing innovative job of bringing together fresh ingredients for a gastronomic experience. Try the Mussels, the vegan burger with Mirapoux, quinoa, zucchini, and frites. The menu choices are as tempting as a stroll down Champ D'elysee. Today's brunch was especially enriching as we watched the French Soccer team defeat Croatia in the championships. The "joie de vivre" love for their country was so moving. It was my first time. despite the fact that food was good, my Mother's Day brunch was ruined. The waiter was snobby, looking down at us and then the manager chased us on the way out telling us that we didn't leave a tip. The bill was 25% more then we had to pay, so i thought the tip was already included . After long discussion in front of all customers finally they realized they overcharged me!!! It's such a treat to come here in the winter and get cozy with their delicious hot menu items like the escargot or the French onion soup. And in the summer it's even better with fresh market produce that even their cocktail menu will feature. Just a really charming bistro for outdoor dining and for people watching when it's warm out! I will not return to this establishment. The food was mediocre and the service was horrible. The waiter (I believe his name was Mark) was rude, disinterested and less than professional. I asked if they had Tiramisu because I saw the menu on a Yelp post and one of the photos showed it was a desert option. The waiters response (with a straight, stern face)? "Tiramisu is Italian, this is a French restaurant". His response was condescending and insulting. Perhaps he should familiarize himself with the definition of uncouth. A lovely little French place with decent food. For Stamford, this place is pretty good. I've eaten here a few times at this point. Last time around I got escargots as an appetizer and an entree of mussels. The escargots were fine, but nothing to write home about. They were quite salty and quite garlicky but other than that there wasn't much to them. Likewise the mussels were fresh and tasty, but nothing about them made me want to sop up all the sauce with bread. Speaking of which, you'd think that mussels would be served with a piece of good crusty bread to enjoy the sauce, but no luck here. If this place were in NYC, it would be a solid three stars. Hit and miss on a recent Wednesday. Onion soup was delicious with a peppery kick that made it different. Parmesan risotto croquettes were adequately tasty. Sole meuniere was over salted and overcooked, too much for the delicate fish to handle, though the ratatouille served with it was lovely. The shrimp in angel hair pasta tasted funny; pasta was very good. Cocktails were light but good, crepes suzette so-so. Service was top shelf. Cozy place, smelled somewhat of disinfectant. I enjoyed my business lunch yesterday at Chez Vous. The location is great in Stanford's version of restaurant row. There are many places to choose from within an easy few minute walk but I am glad we stuck to our first choice. The restaurant has 2 seating areas inside and a nice outdoor patio on the sidewalk. Unfortunately yesterday the city decided to do some construction project within a few feet of the restaurant so we opted to sit inside. The service was pleasant and the staff were attentive without being too much. The food was very good. My blackened chicken sandwich was spicy and delicious. If you have to ask how spicy is it, you won't like it. It was not overpowering but the spice is a main part of the flavor and it had a kick, perfect for me but not my wife and kids. It came with either fries or a side of greens. I opted for the greens and they were a perfect and fresh compliment. Amazing how the French can make even a simple salad special. My associate got the French burger and fries and he enjoyed both. We even had a quick dessert before leaving. I had the creme brûlée and he got the chocolate moose. The wine was very good, a red Bordeaux, but one would expect a French establishment to serve nothing less. But, sorry, I can't get over the Grilled Chicken breast with French Fries. So we actually live in walking distance of this restaurant. Not really sure why we hadn't been there sooner. We had a reservation with another couple but they had to cancel at the last minute but we decided to go anyway. And I am soooo glad we did. I never even knew they had a back room but that is where we were seated. Very warm and cozy. Just perfect. Then I had the onion soup. Beyond delicious. I also had the burger which was exceptional. Honestly I think it was the best burger I've had in a very long time. Had to go back about two weeks later. Decided to try the escargot. So good! Then had the branzino. The most amazing creme brulee! We've had lunch and dinner here. Food is consistently GREAT. Definitely a favorite for us!! Their lunch chicken sandwich is yummy. The grass fed New York steak sandwich was absolutely delightful (a favorite of my husband). Their mussels... out of this world!!! And u can order it with white or red sauce. Organic salmon gravlax fennel salad is something I can't stop coming back for. We've been here a few times and the food is always good, place is clean (they also have a big room at the back for private parties or bigger groups). Service is always awesome. Great for date nights. We have had several excellent meals at Chez Vous - dinner, lunch and brunch. Arrived here at 9:40pm on Saturday 9/15/18 as a party of three. We were met at the door and told they were closed. My wife said 'but your website states you are open until 10pm'. The gentleman pointed to the nearly empty restaurant and said 'we are closed'. I reiterated that their own website reflected a 10pm close. The reply we received was "I am the owner and I don't care". I said that we will never come back again - to which he replied 'fine'. And the veal scalopini is light and drizzled with just the right amount of balsamic glaze. The atmosphere is also pleasant.
