Blown away by this special place!!! Every bite of everything we ordered (and we ordered a lot!) was extraordinary! Rebecca is amazing. She is so warm and so knowledgeable about food and wine, and takes a lot of time and care curating an impressive menu. Even the water was the best tasting water I have ever had, which I learned is brought in special for the restaurant. She doesn't miss a thing. She takes pride in it all, and it shows. There aren't a lot of reviews for this restaurant. With the prices for this place, it's no wonder. It has to be one of the most expensive places in the state. Or for that matter the country. When you're serving Dover Sole for $60 or so...for lunch you are setting the bar high. Does it reach it? Not quite. And I suppose I should sing the restaurant one star for that. And yet I can't because the food and service were so darn good. A frisee salad with goat cheese and asparagus and wild mushrooms? Sublime with a mix of flavors and textures that made me want to savor each bite. The tuna was better with shoestrings fries. Tuna was near flawless. Just melts in your mouth. And even the bread was ridiculous good. Imported from France I'm told. FWIW. Still, it's nearly impossible to justify the prices. So the place is left to expense accounts and Old Greenwich money where the amounts are an afterthought. If you have either of those, this is the perfect place to splurge. Our family celebrated a special occasion at Rebecca's and we could not have selected a finer place to celebrate. The ambiance is simple and elegant, while being comfortable and relaxing. The space sets the mood for a special evening. The service is impeccable. It is of the very highest level. And the food; perfect. Absolutely perfect. Rebecca's is expensive, yet the food, service, and ambiance provide an exceptional experience that is well worth the price. A finer place can not be found for an exceptional dining experience. First of all, this is an evening affair. If you want fast food, go somewhere else. From the moment we walked in the door, it felt like we were regulars. Rebecca has a passion for her restaurant. You can tell she enjoys what she does. She hand squeezes the juices for the cocktails, has a great selection of liquors. Makes a great Vesper martini. Swears by her margaritas. (going back for that on our next trip) We were all asked about food allergies before pleasantly surprised with a large ravioli with an egg yolk and creamy sauce topped with shaved white truffles from Alba. Sooo good. After that we were presented the menus. I must say there are plenty of choices and we had questions on the dishes. The way Rebecca explained each dish was mouth watering. We had the whipped egg topped with caviar served in the shell. "amazing" The beet salad was paired with goat cheese and ginger and a light dressing. I had the Steak Frites. Simple but cooked to perfection and mouth watering. My wife had the Dover Sole ( best ever) For desert we were surprised with chocolate soufflé, pumpkin creme brûlée, pear tart and baked alaska. I could go on and on. Plan on spending 3+ hours on a culinary journey, otherwise don't go if you want a fast dinner. This is an experience. We felt like we were invited to a house party. My sister (who still lives in Greenwich) really wanted to go to Rebecca's. Having not lived there in years, I'd never heard of it, and frankly the Glenville section is not where I expect high-priced dining, but go I did. Tough to get into this place, as the door on the street is locked, and the actual entrance is hidden in the dark recesses of the back parking lot. Inside is a plain rectangular room, sparsely decorated and with too many tables crammed together. Mostly ~empty~ tables I might add, but it was a Wednesday night. Service was fine, salad was fine, my sister's fillet mignon was... meh, but ~my~ main course of lobster with lemon risotto was a pathetic joke. A cold, rubbery baby lobster tail on a bed of BOILING hot, flavorless risotto. How can the kitchen produce something so hot, and so cold at the same time, and have it all taste like a TV dinner? The salad and the ambiance were nothing to complain about, and would have gotten 3 stars.... if not for the $300+ price tag for two peoples appetizers & entrees. I know this was Glenville, but as this place is trying to appeal to the upper echelons of the wealthiest town in Connecticut, (and certainly charged like it) I was expecting a heck of a lot better. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE from servers to management. Let me start off by saying that Rebeccas has been my favorite restaurant for years but recently my family went there and found a few HAIRS in our food! Not to mention a mouse ran across the restaurant. When we brought up this issue to Rebecca and her husband they did not act in a professional manner, instead gave very nasty response and offered no solution to accommodate us for the food or treatment we received. I don't get it. I have no problem with a big bill for a nice dinner,but Rebeccas's doesn't deliver on any front. I can forgive if the food is amazing, but it's not. It's Ok at best and definitely not in the exceptional range. The ingredients are fresh and the presentation is very nice, but again looks don't make good food. The restaurant looks looks like a retrofitted cafeteria and the entrance layout is awful. There's no one to meet you or take your coat. This looks more like an IKEA breakrooom than a fine dining establishment. Our service was there but severely lacking. Our appetizers came before the bread, which we had to ask for. The butter was frozen. The second bottle of sparkling water never arrived. None of this is awful if the prices are reasonable and they are not. The entrees start at $35 and average close to $50-60. The over-use of white truffles means there are several plates over $100. I don't get the allure or even continued patronage of this place except by folks that need to put on a blazer for dinner and want bland, but pretty food. That's all this place is. I will say that the baked Alaska was exceptional and was a real treat. However that can not make up for the stale petit fours accompanying the dessert or the rest of the meal. read more

From the time you walk in to when you leave, it felt like we had a waiter dedicated to our table. I knew the prices were quite high so I was somewhat expecting it to be a big bill but I had no clue that the wine list was so limited in the sub $100 range. Anyway, the foie gras dumpling with black truffle broth was highly recommended so I ended up ordering it. I would advise against it because the flavors combination is way too strong and you end up not being able to enjoy either one. A good attempt though. And at $28 it's worth a rethink! For the main, my friend and I got the braised short ribs and the new york steak and split it - an excellent choice by the way. We asked for the sauces on the side, which I highly recommend. Other than the price, both entrees were excellent! The ladies got a fish and a pasta - once again both excellent. For the wine, we started with a Sancerre which was quite nice and then a Paulliac which was disappointing, it was way to light. I would go with the Cab that they have by glass also instead. So to sum it up, Rebeccas is a fine establishment with very good food, but ask your lawyer to take you and go all out!! read more

This is one of my favorite "expensive" restaurants in Greenwich. I have been here maybe 5X and every time has been delicious. We usually start with the soup- they do 2 soups in 1 bowl- it is pretty cool. We also like the sashimi salmon. For dinner I have tried the: Dover sole, Arctic char, Roasted tenderloin of venison, Filet mignon. I probably wouldn't order the Atlantic Char again, but everything else was to die for. They serve blinis with sour cream and caviar to everyone and they also give you little cookies for dessert. The atmosphere is awesome too- very trendy and clean. read more

I ate out here with my friend. Service was great. We shared foie gras dumplings which were terrific and i have never seen anything like it so i found it to be unique. my friend got duck which was tender and the sauce was a great companion. i got pheasant which was terrific and tender. Great fancy restaurant for special occasions. The short rib is succulent and melts in your mouth . Rebecca always helps us pick the perfect wine for our meals. The last time we went we had an amazing desert with cara cara oranges on top of merengue with whipped cream. It reminded me of the orange sherbert and vanilla popsicles I enjoyed in my childhood. The best restaurant in Greenwich. No debate. I have been 20+ times and have never been disappointed with the food. Sometimes, on a busy night, the service slips a bit, but it never bothers me. Everyone comments about how expensive this place is...I think it is right in the ballpark for comparable quality restaurants in tne nyc burbs. But this place has value. The quality is so superior to places like Valbella, Polpo, and Napa & Co which all cost the same. Of course if you order truffles or kobe, it will rack up, but that should not come as a surprise. After reading several reviews here, I felt compelled to weigh in. We have dined at Rebecca's many times over the last decade. It probably adds up to only a handful of times per year, and what I can say is that each and every time has been spectacular! The food continues to amaze and the service is impeccable. The hosts are warm and gracious and not intrusive. If something isn't right, the team works to correct and make everyone happy! We dined there last night for Valentine's Day. Tuna Tartare and Gravlax appetizers were terrific, as was the Sea Bass and Elk. Both warm and flavorful...in the case of the Elk, cooked perfectly rare. In reading other reviews, the complaints seemed to be less about the food and more about massaging ones ego. Can't imagine the team at Rebecca's is anything but attentive, and Rebecca runs the dining room as if you are eating at her house for dinner. Rebecca's isn't the most inexpensive choice for sure, but at least we know we are consistently getting high quality food and a wonderful night out! read more

Always love going to Rebeccas for a special occasion. Went with my family to celebrate my son's one-year anniversary. The food is always meticulously prepared with incredible attention to detail and flavors that are spot on. Our waiter was someone who we had before, and he was really hustling (as were the various others who were helping) to make sure that we were well taken care of. When he got a bit overwhelmed by the level of activity (the meal did take a long time, but we were having fun nonetheless) Rebecca stepped in and helped to get our drinks refreshed and give him a hand. If you are going out for a special meal and have the patience to have a leisurely-paced dining experience, Rebeccas is a great place to go. read more

I wish I could give a great review, but our dinner was just average last weekend. Our daughter was home from College on break and she wanted to get dressed up for a nice dinner. The staff is very friendly and gives mostly attentive service. I had the squash soup, and it was ok, nothing memorable. My wife had the scrambled egg and caviar which she liked, but it's hard to mess up caviar and egg. My salmon was supposed to be medium rare, but it was medium well. The waiter pushed the Elk chop on my wife, and it was tough and flavorless. The waiter never came back after our entrees were served to see if everything was ok. So we never got a chance to tell him. I'm not going to complain about the prices because I know it's pricey and I don't mind that when you get a memorable meal. I've had other wonderful meals there, maybe it was just an off night for them? read more

Let me begin with compliments to the chef, kitchen and wait staff on creating a beautiful dining experience for me and my family. The food was sublime. I started with the lobster asparagus soup - it was perfect. For my entrée I went for the pretentious yet delicious white truffle risotto. Again this was perfect. Desert was baked Alaska, which was delicious. At this stage you are probably wondering why the review is awarded a modest two stars. The answer is quite simple: the obnoxious, arrogant creature that sat at a table near me. Now if this were a customer I could write it off as unlucky timing, however it appeared to be a senior staff member. LOUD and visibly drunk, this person needs lessons in etiquette and reserve. She was sitting with customers, sharing a bottle of red wine - they were clearly squirming with discomfort at her presence. I was forced to listen to her entire conversation(s) due to the volume of her voice and her drunken demeanor. This woman needs to be kept behind closed doors and monitored by an adult. However I could have gone on a week long cruise for the price of the meal. Worth it if you got it to make those special occasions memorable. If I win the mega millions I would eat here every week. Very disappointed with dinner tonight Rebecca's is rated as one of the best restaurants in Greenwich, but did not live up to its standards tonight. My fiancé has been dinning there for years. We ordered a dinner that was overpowering with one ingredient. The waiter sent the main course back to the kitchen and they made us a new entrée. When the entrée came back from the kitchen it was still over powered by one of the main ingredients. The waiter said that they never added that ingredient to the dish. Very insulting that ingredient was still to overpowering and was shocked that he would even say they didn't add that ingredient to our meal. And the owner never came over to our table to apologize or Acknowledge what happened. Not acceptable never going back. read more

My wife took me here (all the way from Guilford) for my birthday last night. Please don't tell her, but it was not at all worth the trip. This restaurant is seriously over-hyped on various reviewing sites. It is unbelievably expensive, both food and wine, and while I have been known to drop $1000 relatively happily on dinner for four, it's really not worth it here. Our first courses (sautéed foie gras for me, the much applauded truffle risotto for her) were acceptable, but I've had better and for more reasonable prices. The main courses were disasters: she had the dover sole and I had a turbot dish. The fish in both cases was over-grilled beyond redemption: completely dried out and so smokey tasting you couldn't tell one fish from the other. And at $45+ for each, these dishes were really a scandal. Desserts were a return to acceptable but not great. For $125, we had one of the cheaper wines on the list ( a Chassagne-Montrachet at only 150% markup over retail). No complaints about the service, but it really seems to me that no matter how much money you have (or don't have) to spend, you can do better than this. read more

One of the top restaurants in Greenwich, though also one of the priciest. My wife and I go there for all of our "special occasions". The food is incredible, everything is wonderful from the starters to the desserts. Rebecca's easily compares with some of the best restaurants in NYC. The dress is business but it doesn't feel stuffy, like a few of the other top restaurants in the area. Rebecca greets you at the door and tries to make sure everyone has a great evening. read more

So it was my wife's birthday and we invited 2 friends to join us for what we told them would be a fantastic dinner that would be remembered. We said this because we have eaten at Rebeccas many times over the years and have always loved every aspect. Our reservation was for 6:30pm and we arrived on time, although finding the front entrance to the restaurant is no easy feat in itself. They sat us down at a nice table against the wall; which we could have done worse and sat in the middle of the restaurant as aisle people with non-stop traffic passing by. The Maitre D sat us and said our waiter would be right with us for drink orders. 45 min later nobody has been over to our table and the four of us are sucking our thumbs and looking around. My friend got up and told the Maitre D that we have not had any service. If it wasn't for the fact that my wife and I have eaten here before and the food is outstanding, we would have stood up and walked out. So, 45 min later the waiter shows up and says sorry for the wait can I take your drink orders. My guests ordered their drinks ( I was driving so I had water). Seeing that the service already sucked and we had nothing to do but look at the menu and catch up with our friend, our friends, knowing that this would not get any better, decided to order all the food at the same time as the first round of drinks. Another 15-20 min go by and out comes our appetizers. After they set them down, I asked the server if he thought that our drinks would be arriving anytime in the near future. He looked at me like he had know idea what I was talking about and then realized we still had not gotten our first round of drinks yet and they already have us eating. He apologizes and states that the bartender is backed up (Pure Bullshit). The round of drinks finally arrive half way through our appetizers and embarrassing to me, my friend, already knowing that the service is pathetic, immediately told him to get another round. All of the appetizers were outstanding, especially the seared Foie Gras. Next, they cleared the table and took away useless silverware and reloaded with what we would need for our main course. The main course comes and after serving they simply walk away as opposed to saying. . . "Does anyone need anything else"? Not even that, just a drop and walk away. So we begin to eat when we realize that our guest has no fork. There is no apparent person standing by to assist so our guest simply stood up and went over to an empty table and helped himself to the silverware he needed. Yes they saw him do that and realized that they might have overlooked him. All 4 meals were outstanding. Look - here is the point. For the prices they charge at this restaurant, which don't get me wrong, is fine by me because the food is that Good,I expect impeccable service to compliment the excellent food. I would normally rate Rebecca's as a 4-5 star restaurant but last night they get 2 Stars because the Service was definitely 2 Stars. My guest even got up and talked with the maitre d, who seemingly was concerned with the level of service we were getting but it also seemed no one who worked there could give a rats ass what the Maitre d said to them and paid little attention to him. In the end, when we went to pay the bill, for some reason the card I gave to them was not being recognized so I went to give them my gold card but my friend already had his card out and handing it to the hostess. We insisted to the Hostess that these were our guests and they would not be paying the bill but the hostess said that she was going to take the advice from the young one at the table (my guest's wife). My wife and I ignored the insult and she finally took our card after we insisted many times. As my wife said, although we have eaten there many times, this time, after bragging to our friends how good this place is and feeling completely embarrassed by the lack of service provided to us, we will not find it necessary to go back. read more

The way the staff at Rebeccas treats you is simply unacceptable and certainly not what the expensive prices call for. Typical dining experiences at Rebeccas last at least 4 hours--about 10 minutes of which you actually have food in front of you. The prices are absolutely outrageous: I recall a single ounce of beef costing 25 dollars, meaning a typical steak would cost upwards of 200 dollars. As expensive as it is, the quality of the Filet and Desserts are great, but still not worth the value. This brings me to my next point, recently I wanted to take my mother to Rebeccas for a late dining experience to enjoy simply dessert for her birthday. She had always told me how much she loved the Baked Alaska; we thought only going for dessert could help us skip out on the unaffordable entree prices. Upon calling Rebeccas to place a reservation for a modest party of 5 to enjoy dessert, Rebecca herself answered the phone in a disgusting tone, "This is not an ice cream parlor, you would cause too much of a commotion, perhaps a smaller group of 2 or 3 could work." The fact that she would turn down service after we complimented her restaurant for having such great dessert shows makes it one of the least welcoming places I know. We never said that we thought of them as an ice cream parlor, and nothing we said would imply that we would disrupt anyone or anything in the restaurant. Needless to say, Rebecca regards herself as the owner of the greatest restaurant in the world and sees no reason to appeal to people who she views not worthy to dine at her restaurant. read more

I usually don't write reviews but we had such a bad experience, here we go... We got there at 8:15pm and got our appetizers by 9:30pm. Service was really poor and do not expect your waiter to serve anything. He returned to the table the absolute minimum number of times to get the job done. Meanwhile the table next to us was getting impeccable service with the same waiter. From the time we ordered to the time our entrees arrived we were served 3 orders of freshly baked mini baguettes (Yes, the staff was able to bake bread 3 separate times before getting our order). We looked at the kitchen and all the chefs and assistants were working at warp speed but could not possibly handle all the orders in any reasonable amount of time. You could tell the place was seriously overbooked. We experienced another customer having a meltdown for the poor service and delays in his order. According to him he has been a regular for the last 20 years so maybe this is unusual for the place? However they are not getting a second chance from me. Another thing i would like to mention is the volume level of the restaurant is fairly high. A large portion of this volume comes from Rebecca herself as she talked to customers. It was so loud I thought she was using a megaphone. Food is mediocre and way overpriced. Definitely had better food and service at other 5-star restaurants. Don't even bother making a reservation.
