This is my favorite taco truck in the area! I usually go around lunch time and there are a few others waiting for their food ahead of me. My usual order is 2 brisket tacos and 2 carne asada tacos. They prepare the tacos super fast and I usually get it within 5 minutes of ordering. Pre-covid there was a table where you can grab yourself salsa and grilled onions but now salsa is already in containers with your to go order. Don't forget to ask for grilled onions! They are amazing with your tacos. Each taco comes with a generous amount of meat, cilantro, and onions. The brisket is slightly cripsy and melts in your mouth while the carne asada has just the right amount of flavor. Four tacos definitely fill you up. I've had the brisket quesadilla and shrimp tacos before but wouldn't get them again because it was too oily for my liking and the shrimp taco didn't have as much flavors as the beef ones. Incredibly satisfying and convenient. You've probably driven by this taco trunk dozens of times and the curiosity may have poked you a few of those times. While there's nothing spectacular about these tacos (no, they're not worth driving miles and miles to try), they are delicious and convenient if you're around the area. I'm only talking about the tacos. I tried their torta thinking it would be the crunchy/crispy type that I know and love from El Farolito's but they use hamburger buns, which makes for a very soggy torta. I really did enjoy this place, they moved their location, no longer at the gas station, it's right next to the Kelly Moore paint store now. They have a lot of variety on their menu and their prices are great. I love that they have salsas outside so you can add as much as you want. They also have grilled onions and Serrano peppers! Wow - I was blown away by this place. The diversity of the menu and protein options was incredible and I have a new go-to - brisket tacos anyone? Also I love the shrimp special because it has so much flavor and just the right amount of heat. Was craving a taco and thought I'd try somewhere new. Saw this place was local so I decided to check it out. Menu was pretty solid, has all the items you'd expect but it was the campechanoz that caught my eye - a blend of carne asada, pastor and chorizo with cheese, onion and green bell pepper. It's served on a platter with 12 (or 6 double stacked) mini tortillas, a side of grilled onion and jalapeños and of course their signature red and green salsas. These things were killer. A very disappointing experience led me to write this review. It's 10pm and I'm the only customer at the moment. For my order I asked for one Shrimp Burrito. I finally tried their burritos and I'm again amazed. Every single one was different in it's own way, but still perfect. I ordered three burritos: one with lengua (tongue), one with cabeza (head, or more accurately face), and one with suadero (brisket). Every single one had a perfect tortilla (pliable with a little bit of toasting), every one had nicely integrated ingredients without any cold spots or pockets of just sour cream or just rice, and every one had plenty of meat. The differences in the meat also came through very well, with the more unctuous cabeza, the chewier lengua, and the charred suadero all having their own separate textures and flavors. In my tacos I tend to lean towards cabeza and lengua, but I actually liked the suadero best. I thought the mixture of charred outside and chewy texture stood up better to the burrito, whereas the softer cuts blend a bit more with the rest of the ingredients. All were still great, just the suadero was the greatest. Sauce wise, the green sauce is definitely the way to go. The red sauce has a deeper, smoky flavor, but the green sauce is more tart, which I think cuts the richness of the burrito better. Cheztakos is amazing, I'm impressed every time I go by how consistently good they make everything. I haven't properly explored the entirety of the Mountain View/Sunnyvale/Santa Clara Mexican restaurant scene, but so far Cheztakos is hands down the best. Decent prices and one of the few spots open to grab food before we headed to the movies!! My boyfriend ordered the carne asada quesadilla while I ordered the chicken one. Food came out fast and the guys were nice! I took a star off because there's no tables just a bench to eat on. I also took a star off because the quesadilla didn't come with and sour cream/guac or fresh pico. Maybe I've been spoiled at other taco trucks. The carne asada was a little dry while the chicken was very tender. Both meats lacked flavor. I liked that they had the sauces outside as well as grilled onions and jalapeños! I noticed this truck hidden under a couple of tall trees along El Camino Real during my random lunch search drive. I don't know if others have noticed, but I've never seen brisket tacos as an option in san jose. This is my third taco truck that I've seen that offers brisket--must be a mountain view thing. Since I've tried it, I LOVE IT. Tender, flavorful and crisp delicousness. Tacos are $1.80. I usually get the carnitas and of course the brisket with extra onions and cilantro. There's a self serve salsa station offering green and red salsa, grilled onions and jalapenos. Small seating area near the tree where you can sit and enjoy your tacos while watching cars drive through el camino real. If I ever need an early lunch this is the place to be--they open at 10am! Don't make my mistake of forgetting your credit card because they charge a dollar! read more

Whenever I have a friend visiting me from Europe or Asia and they ask me what a taco should taste like, I either prepare them myself, or I take them to Cheztakos. One of the key ingredients (onion) is often missing from Americanized versions of tacos and without it, you're not really having a real experience. Instead, Cheztakos makes a killer set of grilled onions that I sometimes order on the side to take home. I'm a fan of the Suadero and Tongue tacos, but if you're less adventurous, a carnitas taco will do just fine. read more

It looks like the Tacomania truck in Mtn View has changed names though serving mostly the same menu. Not sure if there's a following out somewhere or what. Good thing is the food is still solid. Got the campechano plate with chorizo, asada, pastor, cheese, onions and bell peppers. They give you a stack of tortillas so you can make your own tacos basically. The kiosk for sals, limes, radishes, and cucumbers. Super filling for just about $10 for a huge plate. The city is trying to get them to close at 10pm on the weekdays and 12am in the weekends which would be a shame as it's a fave for late night eats read more

I came to da liquor store lookin' for a 40 of Ol' E, but it be closed. Waddup wit dat? But it be crazy dat da taco truck is open! Off the heazy fo' sheezy! Tacos were $1.65 with the usual meats plus more unique brisket, pork stomach, beef brisket, beef head, and pork sausage. There wasn't a heaping of meat on the taco, but for the price, I could've ordered an extra or two. The brisket was more tender than carne asada, and the carnitas was not too crispy. The taco meats were flavorful with the usual raw onions and cilantro, and they're served with a whole jalapeno and onions on the side. Seating was folding chairs and tables under an awning, and there's a small salsa bar. Hours are sporadic (~6PM - midnight for dinner), so look for the brightly lit permanent truck in the liquor store parking lot - perfectly safe in the suburbs. The short story is that this place makes mind-blowing burritos. You'll love it. Don't even hesitate. Just come eat. I come to this food truck every week for the lengua (beef tongue) burrito. The food is perfect in every possible way that you can imagine: tender and flavorful meat, properly toasted tortilla, and amazing sauce. My personal favorite combo is: burrito + red sauce + lime + grilled onion. I would also recommend al pastor and carnitas as the meat options. You can also do double meat. They do a great job wrapping things, so it's good for take out. Staff is nice and friendly. Your food usually gets ready in a few mins. Food trucks are in and there are two really good reasons; first, they generally cost less than a brick and mortar store, and second the food can be quite good. TacoMania is one of the many fine examples of both reasonably priced and good food. I had two tacos and a diet coke for $4.80 before tax. Taco #1 was and Al Pastore on two 3 inch corn tortillas smothered in onions and cilantro (which I requested). Taco $2 was carnitas and also smothered in stuff. There is a table with salsa, sautéed onions and peppers, radish and lime slices and hot sauces. The tacos both proved to meet my standard for authentic Mexican and not the Taco Bell variety. The décor is Tijuana old school, a little clumsy with bits-and-pieces from garage sales and the flea markets; but, that is just fine. It blends in nicely with the concept and bright colors of the truck and in addition provides some shade, a flat screen TV and tables/chairs. Not to mention they have kept the cost down and provide a good value meal. Do yourself a favor and try something new once in awhile. It is a true adventure to discover fun places to eat as wells the thrill of taking a little risk. I used to love this place...I really really did. You could tell from the 5 stars I gave. But the quality of the food has gone down. The quality of meats that they use are not good. I recommend not ordering the brisket unless you want chunks of fat in every bite. Plain, disgusting chunks of fat. Chicken is bland and the carne asada is chewy. They used to toast the corn tortilla a little bit for that extra crunch, but they don't anymore. Their only saving grace is the delicious salsas. And if they have caramelized onions. But other than that, I'm not sure I'd come back anymore. read more
