TL;DR: Top 3 favorite restaurant in Austin! Would easily recommend this restaurant to any friend visiting from out of town. Make a reservation beforehand. Food: + Duck red curry: This was probably my favorite dish! The duck is super tender and curry has a nice rich flavor to it. + Pineapple fried rice: There were around 4 large shrimp, and they were very tender and flavorful. Every bite is seriously so enjoyable -- not spicy and served in an actual pineapple! + Filet mignon pad see ew: Not a huge portion, but wow the meat is really quite tender. + Ube panna cotta: I have had this dessert twice! Ube flavor is very strong, and gelatin texture melts in your mouth. Portion size isn't very large, but it's a good way to end a nice meal. Service: + Friendly service, gave good recommendations, and refilled waters without asking. No complaints here! Ambiance: + Big fan of the dim lighting. + Very close walk to the Lady Bird Lake trail, makes for a great view before or after your meal. There is a free parking garage right across from 1618 as well. + Nice spacious restroom to use as well. Clean, 2 stalls and 2 urinals.

Amazing! Came here to celebrate an anniversary. After this being on my radar for quite a while, we decided to try it out and we were more than impressed. Here's my breakdown: Food: 10/10 Vegan curry had phenomenal flavors and a great veggie selection. Rich and creamy. Five sampler was a nice mix of everything and the meat was soft and tender. Seasoned very well. I wasn't a big fan of the tofu eggrolls though. Everything else was spot on. Veggie dumplings and shrimp dumplings were both awesome. Ambience 10/10 Not that loud, light music playing in background. Was a good vibe and nice to listen to the live music. Service: 12/10 By far, I was most impressed with our server( yen). She was very attentive, gave us good recommendations and answered all our questions and was very friendly. Even gave us a card for our anniversary + complimentary dessert.Management if you see this, please give Yen a raise Overall, 1618 is outstanding. We'll definitely be back, and I do recommend going in a large group because the menu is very extensive and there's a few dishes that would be ideal to share. This spot will definitely rise to the top for my favorite spots in Austin. Keep up the good work 1618

Love this Asian fusion Austin spot. Been here twice and both times were great food and great service. Ambiance is warm and classy yet casual. It is a great spot for Dim Sum soup dumplings, fried rice, and they have a filet minion pad see ew. What I order: Pineapple fried rice Chicken dumplings Xiao long bao

I'm usually leery of anything Asian Fusion because typically it's just generic Asian cuisine with severely watered down flavor or just poorly prepared. 1618 is one of the few exceptions I make. The service has always been good with the staff and the food/drinks are even better. I was a huge fan of the pineapple fried rice. I had the Thai tum yum fried rice this time and it was equally great! The "Award-Winning Pho" was not good at all the very first time I dined here in 2021 but I'm glad I came back (and again!) to give it another shot. It's been months since I last visited and finally getting around to leaving a review. I believe the whole peking duck was good; can't recall anything necessarily bad about it but nothing was super impressionable either. The ube panna cotta, Milky Way shot, and lychee martinis are always a must for me.

This restaurant food and staff are amazing! Our server was outstanding. She had a lovely personality and did everything possible to ensure that our brunch was a special experience. We ordered more food than we could eat and everything was delicious. The music was very pleasant and not too loud. I was informed that we should return for live music one evening. This is the place to go for beautiful great tasting food and fabulous service!

First things first: 1618 Asian Fusion is located in a busy and popular area of South Austin, but there is a free parking garage right across the street, which makes visiting much easier. The dining environment is comfortable, clean, and fun. It has a lively atmosphere that works well for hanging out with friends, date nights, or even a casual dinner when you want something a little nicer. Their menu has a great variety of food and drinks to choose from, which makes it a good spot for groups. I tried the dim sum and pho, and both were fresh and delicious. What surprised me the most was that the prices were actually very reasonable, especially considering the location, atmosphere, and quality of the food. No wonder every time I come here, it's always packed. It's rare to find an Asian fusion restaurant that does this concept right, but 1618 really pulls it off.

Overall: 4.3/5 We ordered for pickup again, and the food quality is pretty close to a dine in experience compared to other places. Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp ($10): Very sour so I had to dilute it. They did give a lot of veggies and a good amount of shrimp though. However, I still recommend the tom kha soup over this one. Crispy Pad Thai ($22) + Shrimp ($2): Consistently good with any protein, but I think beef pairs the best. The pad thai was crispier this time too. Hu Tieu SG ($21) + Duck ($10): We went with the shrimp and pork belly soup option with extra serrano pepper and hu tieu kho sauce. This version is better than the Hu Tieu Kho, and the duck was a total game changer so I highly recommend adding it. Just know it runs on the blander side without the sauce so make sure you get that extra on the side. Filet Mignon Onion ($25): We got it extra spicy and requested medium rare. I thought the price was a bit steep for a small portion but the meat was cooked well and tasted really good. Five Sampler ($28): Came with fresh brisket spring rolls, grilled pork patty skewers, sugar cane shrimp, pork belly bao, 1618 eggrolls, and two dipping sauces. Best enjoyed in person since the spring rolls and bao really need to be eaten right away.

If you've never had purple ha how, well guess what you can at 1618 Fusion. And it was delicious! As was the rest of the dim sum platter which, while only eight pieces and is technically two dim sum plates, had four soup dumplings. Four/eight are safe for pescatarians. There are a few happy hour dishes that are worth getting there before 6pm for such as the sesame chicken. Theirs is so good we ordered a second dish. The vegan pho is noteworthy for its existence and taste. The coconut fried rice with crab meat served in a scooped out coconut is my new favorite dish. Service was impeccable. Delicious food, excellent service, live music on the weekends- you can't go wrong here. I also did take out for the garlic vegetables and octopus appetizer. The sauce in the garlic vegetable is fantastic.

We came on a date night and enjoyed our experience overall. This is a bit of a hidden gem, as the exterior looks like a random apartment or lease building... then you walk into an alternate world where it's suddenly a gorgeous restaurant! The service is good overall, host was super sweet. The server did keep coming by too quickly/too often, asking what else we want to order - so we definitely felt rushed. All the food we tried had really good flavor. Portions are on the small side, so you end up spending more than planned, but it's all very tasty. We would love to come by at a time when they have live music and hopefully not feel rushed.

My favorite restaurant in Austin hands down period. I never got the Asian fusion trend but my gosh 1618 changed my mind. I absolutely love this place and all the options they have here that caters to everyone cuisine and taste buds! It's great for dates, casual, big groups, and even fancy! It's an all in one. The ambiance is very nice. The service is prompt and the servers are always recommending great dishes. It's a monthly trip for me here!

We went here twice during bachelorette trip at Austin! They have so many good cocktails. I highly recommend the matcha and lychee martini. One of my favorite is the duck noodle its definitely a must try. So many other yummy items in the menu with so much varieties to try. Very authentic Vietnamese flavor. Service was also amazing we were able to get table very quickly without reservation. Def a good dinner or brunch spot for big party

If you're looking for a standout Asian fusion spot in Austin, 1618 Fusion absolutely delivers. We tried a wide range of items and there were some clear must-orders along with what I'd skip next time. First, the lychee martini is a must. It's delicious, well-balanced, and not overly sweet, plus it comes with a seedless lychee fruit which is a nice touch. For appetizers, the salt and pepper calamari is a must-get. It's perfectly crispy, super flavorful, and honestly so good I could've eaten multiple plates as my entire meal. Another standout was the pork xiao long bao. Easily one of my favorites I've had. The flavor is incredible on its own, but dipping it in their chili oil takes it to another level. We also ordered the tom yum kha soup with chicken. It was very good and the portion was surprisingly large for something listed as a side. It leans more coconut milk-forward than I personally prefer and isn't spicy, but still a solid choice. For entrees, the General Tso's was the only miss for me. It was crispy, but overall pretty average with not much flavor and no spice. The portion also felt smaller compared to our other dishes. I'd skip it next time. On the other hand, the crispy pad Thai with chicken is a must. Huge portion, packed with flavor, and I loved the addition of lots of veggies. The crispy noodles were done perfectly and gave a fun twist to a classic dish. For dessert, the flaming cheesecake is both an experience and delicious. It's lighter than a traditional cheesecake, and pairing it with the sauce and pineapple coconut ice cream makes it even better. The ambiance was also a highlight. We went on a Saturday evening and there was live music, which added a really nice, lively vibe without being overwhelming. The only downside was that there were some flying insects around at times, which was a bit distracting. Service was good and everything came out quickly. There's a parking garage nearby, but it can get busy during peak hours. Also, don't risk parking in spots reserved for other businesses, even if they look empty. We were told they do actively tow. Overall, I'd definitely come back, especially for the appetizers, crispy pad Thai, and that lychee martini!

Food is phenomenal but the prepare for a wait. I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. They are very busy but you can order from the bar which in the meantime which is nice. Food is amazing as always and I always recommend going during mango season so you can try their mango sticky rice!

When you arrive, everybody is so nice you give them your name and they get you seated right away. I ordered a drink called a signature tingling Daisy and it was so good. I definitely could've had so many but I was driving so you gotta pace yourself. We started off with the soup dumplings, which are just phenomenal. It's a must when you go. Also, for appetizers, we got the spicy cucumbers which were divine and a hot and sour soup, which was perfectly balanced and not watery. We also got a beef fried rice and let me tell you that rice is so soft and delicious. You literally dream about it the next day. I also got the pecking duck which is delicious there the skin is nice and crispy and the meat on it taste so good. We also got the Kung pow shrimp with cashews, which was delicious and the pieces of shrimp were gigantic. We also got the green beans which is were delicious. I love ordering green beans when they're cooked just like the ones I posted in the photo. Then for dessert, we got the chocolate mousse which is that little dog cake. I know it's so cute and they made it a little hard to eat because you feel bad in a weird sense. It was delicious now I will say when cutting it and realizing the inside had a raspberry filling, made it a little more crazy cause it looked like blood, but it was still so good. This place is definitely an awesome staple and a must visit when you're in town or just always go and have food there whether it's date night or friends catching up or anything in general even on your own.

This could have been my mistake but I don't remember any choice in the matter. The greeter wasn't very friendly and borderline surly when I asked for more details about how to not book the bar in the future. Didn't get any explanation but fortunately, we won't have to worry about that... The food was just awful. We ordered 3-4 types of dimsum (onion pancake, soup dumplings, chu shou, fried shu mae) and three entries (orange beef, eggplant and their take on ma pao tofu) for the best tasting experience. The curry sauce for the onion pancake was probably the most flavorful dish of the night sadly. The onion pancake was way way over fried-- hard as a rock. If that's their take on onion pancake... well, it's just wrong. The soup dumplings were passable but a bit doughie and the filling was full of a lot of noticeable coagulated fat -- not clear and broth-y, with light surface droplets of oil as all delicious broths. My wife enjoyed the chu shou -- I found the filling much too overcooked and tough -- difficult to eat with chop sticks. Like a tough, overcooked meatball. The fried shu Mae were just plain inedible. My wife and I each ate one and left the rest. The included sauce was basic and too heavy. And again, over fried. There was a huge delay between our apps and our mains, like 40 minutes or so. Various bar staff apologized. It wasn't a big deal, we were in a good conversation and they were super busy but our mains were not at all worth waiting for. Small portions. WAY over sauced. WAY too salty. WAY too sweet. No distinct flavors at all. The ma pao didn't seem to have any Szechuan pepper at all. How do you miss that ? The plating of the eggplant dish was really creative but I don't eat with my eyes and it came with no instruction -- my first bite was just flavorless steamed eggplant cube -- second was mixed with one note sauce. One of the better mains IMO but it was still gloopy and pretty gross. Wife did not enjoy it. The orange beef was essentially just six or seven cubes of tough, fatty beef covered in over-the-top bitter orange peel. We each had a cube and left the rest. Honestly, give me Panda Express any day over this abject failure of a restaurant. Austin needs more Chinese but if it's anything like this place, forget it. I'd rather spend a 4h round trip to Houston and go to even a mediocre Chinese restaurant than endure another meal at this place. What a waste of $165. Edit: I wish I was making this up but I literally had to pull over to throw up on the side of the road on the way home. The food did not sit well with me. I have no underlying health conditions, am not on any medicine that would have this as a side effect and only shared one beer with my wife. It was just a very, very, disappointing and gross meal.

This might be the best dim sum in Austin now…read more I actually had never eaten at Shanghai having grown up in Austin. I didn't have their food until around COVID when we got dim sum to go a few times. I remember at that time thinking it was pretty unremarkable, and also quite expensive for dim sum. Fast forward to this year. I'm not sure if they have new ownership or new cooks, but the difference is night and day. I've been a couple of times now for dine-in in dim sum and each time was awesome. You can order off the menu or by QR code. They definitely focus on the classics but they're all executed really well. Standouts for me were the pan fried turnip cake, full of turnip and super sweet, the shrimp and leek pan fried dumplings, shrimp stuffed eggplant, and chili wonton. What makes them unique to me is that the food is all cooked to order and comes out hot and fresh. The fried items are crispy and hot and everything else you can tell just came straight from the kitchen. This avoids the one issue with carts which is that the food has been cooked who knows when and has just been sitting in a steam cart for an unknown amount of time. Also since you order off the menu, you can get exactly what you want instead of having to wait for a cart to come by. The service is always friendly and I've never had to wait to be seated, even on a weekend. If you haven't come here in awhile or written it off in the past, I'd encourage you to come and try it again. Right now it's a hidden gem but if more people realize how much better it is now, it might not be for long. Also bonus points for being a dim sum place that's not super far north like New Fortune 2 or Golden Palace.

Ordering is through QR code and they did not know what order went to which table. They put food on our table and took it back to a different table TWICE. The good: the dim sum tasted legit. I'd recommend the shrimp rice roll. If service was better and their ordering system was more organized, this could be such a bomb place!

Wu Chow hits the spot on manny levels. The patio is inviting and the interior is decorated nicely as well. The food reminds me of home cooking meets a new hotspot in atx! The staff does a great job of checking in on tables and making great recommendations for coursing plates for a group (including portions bc in Texas you never know!). I really liked their dumpling and the rest of the meal was tasty as well.

We let them know we all had tickets to the opera at 7:30 so it was our goal to be wrapping up by 6:45. By 6:35, my plate was still bare. By the time my food arrived, I had to just shovel it in and go to the opera with indigestion. My friend sitting beside me fared even worse. His food didn't arrive until we were all paying our bills and getting ready to depart so he just had to get his to go. There were nice aspects of the meal too. My food was hot and tasty, my Welcome To The Jungle drink was epic, and our server was pretty attentive. However, the timing of food coming out just made the experience a catastrophe for my friend and me and I hope to not return.

I've heard so many great things about this restaurant, and we finally made it there over Memorial Day weekend. It absolutely lived up to the hype. This place is truly impressive. You can tell every detail was thoughtfully designed and intentional, from the stunning interior design and décor to the incredibly creative menu. What I loved most was how the dishes stayed rooted in authentic Chinese flavors while adding creative, and sometimes surprising, twists. Everything we ordered was excellent. The Lobster Cheese Puff was a huge hit: crispy on the outside and packed with flavor inside. The Salmon Sashimi Mango Salad was incredibly fresh, bright, and crunchy. The sautéed pea shoots were so tender and fresh. And the Lamb Chop with Spicy Miso Sauce was absolutely unforgettable. One of the biggest surprises for me was the Veggie Fried Rice. As a native Chinese, I've had countless fried rice dishes over the years, but I've honestly never had one prepared quite like this before. It was so flavorful and unique. For dessert, the Chocolate Soup Dumpling was both creative and delicious, and the bunny-shaped sorbet was almost too cute to eat. Our waiter, Jake, was also incredibly attentive and helpful throughout the evening. He made our first experience there even more special. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for high-quality Chinese cuisine paired with a beautiful ambiance and elevated dining experience. Perfect for celebrations or a special night out in Austin!
