I am have been a faithful customer prior to Covid…read more I requested specific hair services Upon booking appointment. An instructor Tracey reviewed and kept asking me the services that I requested. I repeated several times /stunned why she seems not have hairstyle expertise in addition student assigned only following her instructions. I never had a bad experience where the service detailed to her and asked her to see another instructor as I never seen this instructor before in the school. She did not perform the services requested stood over student watching student washing my hair no idea what She was doing felt aniety belittled and stunned How badly this instructor Tracie lacked professionalism addressing my concerns. Once student placed me in the area hair put towel ok wet hair I proceeded to manager desk with wet hair. Manager told me to wait she had other customers. The service still have no idea what she did on my hair prior to wash. No services requested were done and yes her had no clue except talk down to Me. I took a chair still with wet hair then I approached by school director Ashley Reprimanded how I broke student spirit ? The student had no clue what service to do ! I told Ashley this is not the service requested the teacher had no knowledge of hair services and never treated so unprofessionally. I am stunned a director would speak to me in public in front of the whole salon with students customers/did not speak to me privately. I was then told by manager that I would have hair dried by another student and Had to ask new student assigned to flatten hair As again I detailed services requests repeatedly to teacher director. The student dried hair and and quick straighten. I was told after I paid left students that I would need to come back for all services requested at no charge/no apology !! That next Thursday appt there for 4 hours new student instructor I knew all services Were completed and the instructor advised cutting hair 2 inches I was not happy agreed. After all services completed. I was told by manager that there was no charge. I told the manager that I still wanted to give student tip and that I would back to give cash. I came back manager please forward to student. I stated that I would be back for condition next time. I was told by manager that there would not be a next time that Management made decisions on incident with instructor prior appointment. ??? I was mislead on coming back for the services requested and manager stated prior instructor was in Florida dud not document the Roots lightened blonde over entire head of hair condition flatten iron. I am stunned over this misconduct of instructor Tracie initially and lack of professionalism and ethics of director Ashley. Only manager Kerry is the best ! Had to be the messenger To tell me no longer could go to school services. I would never recommend Paul Mitchell for students and customers.

I've have had back facials, regular facials, body waxing, and nail polish removing services. I highly recommend the skin and waxing services! I would give my overall skin services a 9 out of 10. I would give the wax services 10 out of 10. I would give the nail gel polish removal surface a 0 out of 10 I was in agony the 1 time I went there. It took 2 hours to remove the gel off my hands and feet. They removed it the 'old school way' of using a nail filer and grinding down the gel off until they got to my natural nail bed. My nail bed was in so much pain and soreness... it took a day for my hands and 2 days for my feet to feel back to normal. I had areas of my nail bed turn white due to the over grinding. They tried soaking my nails in acetone and foil but the foil was constantly dropping. It was a game of catch. The student had to switch to different fingers/toes or hands/feet when i needed to rest due to the irritation. I came in thinking it would probably take 30 minutes for the appt... but 2+ hours?? Imagine if I had plans afterwards?? Smh. I understand that they probably have issues with drill bits and nail drills due to students probably pocketing them. I wish they had a more secure system of keeping a nail drill on the property. For example, having it locked with a pass code protected lock and each student have a unique pass code so that, in the event it went missing, staff would know who was the last one who "checked out" the drill and that student would be financially responsible to paying for / replacing the drill (and accessories) before completing the program. Or another system could be it would be locked up with the instructor and a student would gave to request and return it to the instructor immediately at the start and end of the appt It would gave been a 5 star review had I not have had a bad experience with the nail part of the facility. Definitely book as much skin and wax services for yourself (and your loved ones) as you can!

I was able to schedule the first appointment on Friday morning. I arrived and checked in. I had a short wait before I was greeted by Adele who performed my services. I originally came in for a silk press but after the consultation it was recommended that I pivot to a deep conditioner and blow dry. Adele was amazing! She was attentive and knowledgeable and consulted with me about everything. She provided great services and was very attentive with my hair. I ended getting a trim and a different style than what I had originally planned but I love this even more. The prices are great too! I can't believe everything came to less than $20!!! Please bring cash for tips! You can pay for services via credit card but can't put tips on the card and the students work very hard!

I completed the nail program at Anli Academy in February of this year. Despite this, I strongly…read moreadvise against attending this school due to its poor educational standards and blatant disregard for disability accommodations. Their discriminatory practices made my time there incredibly frustrating. I provided the school with an accommodations letter from my doctor for a diagnosed disability and was met with dismissal and hostility. The same thing occurred after having to take a few days off following a medically necessary surgical procedure. Despite the time off being approved ahead of time accompanied by a doctor's note, I was scolded. Upon my return from surgery, the director Cherie Chaves, sent me a lengthy email full of false allegations, discriminatory remarks and denial of my accommodations. I've attached a screenshot of part of her email. She suggested that I drop from the program and implied several times that my disability is a burden. She called me a liability because I had to follow physical restrictions for 2 weeks after surgery. I explained that I just needed a locker, which they gave to everyone else without a problem, but Cherie still scolded me about it. A few days after she emailed me, Cherie called me into her offer and stated that if she had known about my need for accommodations, she wouldn't have accepted me into the program. She called me "fragile" several times and an "extreme case," which was not only humiliating but also openly discriminatory. She said that if I had a condition like diabetes that she would be more understanding and implied that I'm just not trying hard enough. She stated that nobody in the school needed accommodations like I did and that they don't offer accommodations to anyone. Meanwhile, a classmate of mine received accommodations like open book tests in another room, having tests read out loud, and more. This highlighted a discriminatory double standard. Furthermore, my disability was discussed openly by instructors in front of other students, causing me humiliation. I tried to inform them privately but they would often ask about it out in the open. Attempts to advocate for myself were met with being labeled "difficult." Beyond that, the overall structure and quality of the program was disappointing. Instructors would regularly leave the classroom for up to an hour at a time, leaving students without direction. Students would often have to teach each other. There was very little opportunity to work on real clients and we spent most of our time practicing on mannequin hands with little to no feedback. My phase 3 instructor was incredibly lenient and didn't care if students skipped steps while performing services like manicures. I was a model for 2 evaluations where several steps were skipped. This may sound nice to some but when it comes to being prepared for working in a salon, it's detrimental to success. She was incredibly vulgar at times and spoke of things I can't even type here. I had to ask to change the topic because it was incredibly uncomfortable. Several instructors openly admitted to not knowing how to properly perform certain product applications or techniques. The examples they gave were far below even basic industry standards. I don't understand how they expect students to learn something that they cannot do themselves. An example of this is their sculpted acrylic application. I've attached a photo I took in class cause I was shocked that they put such an emphasis on something they haven't perfected. Directions were constantly inconsistent -- each instructor would say something different about how to do the same technique and tools, which left students confused. To add to this, the promise of job placement upon completion of the program is seemingly false. Throughout my time there, Anli Academy has demonstrated a significant inability to accommodate and respect students with disabilities. Their education is also not up to par with beauty industry standards. I cannot in good conscience recommend this school to anyone.

First there is no a structured curriculum . One day we are doing hair cutting, the next braids, the next pin curls and in the next breath we are having a test on waxing which we've never done. When I first started, we were told we weren't allowed to use any salon product on our mannequin because it was a waste for students and cost the company money, so we used water for everything. The school is open enrollment. They accept everyone that comes through the door. Majority of the girls there don't take this seriously and are only there because their welfare counselor told them "this" was a good idea. They're always late if they show up at all and disrupt the "class" any chance they can get. Once (while teaching pedicures) the school refused to allow us to wear the pedicure slippers and told us to tape paper towels on the bottom of our feet. I refused and took a pictures of this horror. The teachers don't want to be there and talk down to the students. We were never taught how to properly curl or blow dry hair. We still burn the hair(I've been there 10 weeks) The theory is a joke. I get good grades. When we have test, The girls that fail are allowed to retake the test right after they've failed it and the new grade which is higher than mine is kept while their failing grade is dis guarded. I'm not allowed to retake the test because I passed the first time. This is a reminder you get exactly what you pay for. This school is the cheapest in the state. They said everything I wanted to hear in order to get me to enroll. I'm currently working on attending a school that takes education seriously. I can no longer attended a school that has no interest in producing hair stylists, partakes in unethical practices and could care less if we learn anything at all .

i cannot agree more with what you've said. i graduated in august of 2010 and since then i have had…read moreno help like the school had promised so many times to give us to get into the field. the school is a complete and entire joke. i'm repaying a $15,000 loan for a career that i now hate and haven't been able to do anything with. the teachers are constantly on cigarette breaks or chasing down students who have gone m.i.a. while the kids who actually want to learn are sitting there waiting for a lesson. i can say that i haven't learned a damn thing because they would give all of the clients who wanted perms and such to the people who had done one before. i can honestly say i have never done a perm or a relaxer on a client. instead, i was given clients who had been waiting for hours and were mad already so they would hate how long i would take even if it was five minutes. the best part is, they would give a client who would tip well to someone who they thought would be the best at whatever service was desired and i would be stuck doing endless pedicures. since graduating, i've noticed that about ten of the people in my class have actually begun a career in the field and everyone else seems to have gone back to school for something else. Also, they pride themselves on knowing exactly what tools you can use for state boards, but once you actually go to take the test they change up everything and you can basically use whatever you want because, like i said, the school is a joke. Also, i don't think it is physically possible for them to be more unprofessional. There were a few times where TEACHERS would come up to me and say "can you please work on this client she's a complete bitch and no one else will take her we know you're really patient." I could say so much more but i'll have to refrain. in all seriousness, POTENTIAL CLIENTS: do not waste your money, while there are some fantastic students that push out amazing work, most of us don't have a clue what we're doing and youu'll probably leave angry or with a half-assed hairstyle because we weren't taught properly. It is large enough that each daughter is able to find her place academically, socially, spiritually, athletically and is able to develop a healthy sense of self. MB is unique in that the Quaker values provide a calming, quiet powerful start to their day and help to build a partnership with their teachers. Our world is changing fast and we feel that Moses Brown is focused on the world that our girls will thrive in bc of their experiences and problem solving skills. No school is perfect but from our experience we feel that MB partners with us as parents to help mentor our kids to be the best they can be, to help make the world around them a better place and to feel Confident in their abilities. It is a challenging school but large enough to accommodate different learning styles. When there are tough issues that arise the faculty addresses them immediately. Our family is active at the school because we believe in the MB mission and feel blessed to be a part of the welcoming community.
